  • The GLT concept was for an electric bus which can also use a central guiding rail to operate as a self-steering guided bus / rubber tyred tram.
This video looks at the prototype vehicles as seen in public service in the Belgian Ardennes. We see both vehicles in both normal bus mode and in guided bus / tram mode.
Also seen very briefly are the TVR variants in guided mode on the test track, and in normal public service in the French cities of Caen and Nancy.
Also look out for the other GLT / TVR films showing the TVR vehicles in Caen and Nancy in greater detail.
    Filmed in 2000.

@westporton hmm, you've caught me out here, as whilst I do know that all the wheels are steerable I'm not sure whether its through mechanical linkages, computers, or what.
Some single articulated buses also feature rear wheel steering, eg: the trolleybuses used on the Montreux - Vevey service.
The TVR as a mode of transport has not found favour and it is questionable whether either city will be using them for more than a decade or so. Also remaining to be seen is what is used instead!

Sounds a bit like a Pacer when it's in diesal mode.

    This is a great video.
It does seem excessively noisy though in "Diesel" mode

Very interesting, Simon! I was impressed with a ride a few years ago on a Geneva bi-articulated trolleybus: quite fancy having a go at making a working model! I understand that the very back set of wheels in bi-articulates is steered. Presumbly with these TRVs have steering on all axles to get that smooth and neat turning in the city? How does this work off the guidway? Computer - or physical linkage
