I remember it took me twice as long with f2l at first then beginners then after a month only there was improvement over beginners

Yeah sub 1 minute. Although I was 1 min 20 so I guess you could call that "progress".

I find it really useful to learn other methods/events like One-Handed, Blindfolded, Roux and ZZ, so you have a better general knowledge about how the cube works.
Before trying Roux I really couldn't do slice moves, and after trying to learn some EG-1 algs for 2x2, I learn a lot of useful fingertricks!
Roux and Blindfolded teached me quite a bit of wide moves, and One-Handed... It's a completely unique set of Fingertricks, and it developed my pinky muscle memory so much!
I haven't tried ZZ yet, but I'm pretty sure it's good for learn when an F2L case (usually) needs a rotation or not.
It’s fucking impossible

Hey there my friend. My name is Josh and although I'm not a cuber I enjoy your videos and thought you deserve the praise. Your statistics and research is very good along with your delivery of information. I like watching your unboxing videos and my wife and I zen out sometimes to them. Wish me luck because in the future I plan to comfortably solve my own cube. Take care!
I got told "do f2l intuitively and ended up making my own f2l method with a combo of advanced and begging such as putting the edge and corner into the bottom layer simultaneously without having to pair them up. However I think I have a much slower method to get them into the top layer in the first place as I'm not very good at recognizing patterns. Currently still working on it with an overall ao50 of 56.34 seconds
I do my own method of crop and I get sub 20 solves keep practicing !

can you make a video on 2 sided pll recognition? Not just basic things like when the headlights are on the left, but being able to recognize from 2 sides from any angle. I feel like there’s a lack of videos like that on CZcams currently
either way great video as always, and congrats on 500k :)
There is a very good tutorial on CZcams. Search "2 Side PLL Recognition Guide (Simple)" or "YE8VCt8QsAc". It helped me a lot, especially with cases where there is no headlights or blocks in sight.
You could probably do this yourself, just do a lot of solves, and when you get to PLL just stop and really think about what case it could be, if you need to pull up a PLL case pdf that could help. Good luck
I started cubing in the summer and everything you say in your vids is 100% true. You helped me improve and I thank you for that

In the video, you mentioned how weight 5 can slow down the cube, but newer cubers may not understand the importance of slowing it down (they may think faster => better). This may dissuade them from buying the best lube. I guess you could explain why slowing down the cube is important in the description/pinned comment?

Wow good catch!

Your not alone.
You're not alone
nope, i saw it too :D
My first ever average at a competition was 36 seconds but then when I learnt beginner CFOP (cross on bottom, beginner f2l, beginner oll and beginner pll) I decreased my time by 12 seconds in 4 more competitions. Highly recommend learning it.
I literally learnt almost everything I know about speedcubing from this legend. Like seriously full cfop and ortega was a nightmare before I saw this channel.
It seems to me that F2L is probably the easiest and most intuitive to learn to do it quickly. I'm not too worried about cube rotation, making the cross on the white side quickly, but I am very interested in learning the OLL & PLL steps of CFOP. On the other hand, I doubt I'll ever really take up speedcubing, which is probably why I'm not too worried about trying to speed up. I'm sub 2, and pretty happy with that, and it's enough to amaze my kids! lol!
Even though I won't take it up myself, thanks for all you do to make speedcubing accessible to the masses! :-)
Sub 2 would surely amaze anyone on this planet… 😳😂

@AJ Hauter it was a joke sorry
I average under 40sec on a Rubiks brand speed cube so I feel like I could probably get down to a average of like 30 on a actual good speed cube
@@andyflips1766 and that's the misconception of people, good cubes can make a difference but not a way big difference. Trust me I was sub 35 myself on "Rubicks" cube then I switched to Jperm RS3M 2020 and was expecting to get sub 28 but I was getting almost same result. Unless your rubicks brand cube really really sucks, I don't think you will be able to get sub 30 on good cube WITHOUT PRACTISE. Actually I noticed for the first few days I was faster on my rubicks brand cube than on my rs3m because I wasn't used to it or basically I didn't have it's practise. So if you wanna become sub 30,practise that's it nothing else but yeah you should probably look into buying a good cube for sub 30 because it's difficult if you're not expert at cfop or other advanced techniques.
Congrats on 1 million subscribers and the very first curbing channel to hit it
this is so funny, this video was recommended to me right after my first speedcube came in the mail. used to use a rubiks brand that taught me how to solve the cube, but i just upgraded to a GAN and it significantly improved my time.
Im at sub 25 average at struggling as hell on learning look ahead ( i know i have a lot other things to.improve too).
One of the main issues is actually focusing on looking for other parts while putting into slot (even tho i dont need to look at it). More frustrating is that i struggle with figuring out my 'progress' in it. Simetimes pairs like pop up just in front of your eyes so you dont really need to do anything special to 'look ahead', but sometimes they hide on the back etc. Hence its difficult to measure whatever i get better or simply being more lucky.
Casually solves a cube in 10 seconds while explaining meanwhile my cube remains unsolved for months
The Moyu cube you recommended is absolutely amazing
Never learned to solve a 3 by 3 and bought a puppet cube because youtube has showed me cubing videos for no reasons and its concering.. but your channel is nice so bought with code bla bla but see me in like 20 years when I have solved the puppet cube lol. It makes for a great toy to just randomly play with though lol. I got all the corner solved two times and had to retain myself from opening your excel file then
3:35 i use the : ruwix timer

@@nikobellic2869 yes I have, I worked wonders until it needed to be cleaned again.
@@angryh9392 store the cube in a dust free environment or best just keep it in its box when not in use, another advice I'd give is use less lube because it's fragments can get stored in there and appear to be dust.
