could you do a video on how to know when youve sanded your shoes enough before customizing!? would be extremely helpful all your other videos have already been so much help , your work is amazing and your tips are great ! 🙏🏻
I’ve done this! But none of them (friends and family) wanted to wear them by fear to break them and put them up on the shelf as art. And im like I WANT YOU TO WEAR THEM!!!! 😂 Love your video!
Here I am coming out of the body shop to learn sneaker customs as a hobby and I'm finding the prep work to be similar to how you would prep for a vehicle to be spray painted. Body shop experience helps a lot with this line of work.
I’ve started my shoe business based off your videos... you have become a mentor for me thanks!! Keep up the good work #toothpickgang 👍🏾👍🏾
Same
I respect your whole style, why? Because your not scared to share information on getting started!!! Mad respect to you!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge so openly! I pretty much binged all your videos in a few days, and I've used so many of your tips - it's made my work so much better in such a short time, thank youuuu! :)
Heck yeah 🤟🏽🤟🏽
I'm just a newbie to customizing and love watching your vids, as they are so informative. If i end up half as good as you, i'll be doing just fine 😉 Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you for your support!
Damn you ain't have to do jacquard like that in the beginning😂😂🤧
🤣🤣
That is one groovy opening tune 🙌
As usual, very informative, lots of tricks...thx a lot from France
Did you try using pure acrylic with mediums like angelus duller or thinner but non leather purpose one like pebeo's, rather than angeluses ?🤔
YOU ROCK🤘🏽You always INSPIRE ME to DO BETTER👍🏽💯THANKS FOR THE VID✌🏾
Thanks for rocking with us 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Great vid as always👌
Most awaited video man
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
every video is quality👌
Ever heard of Glowforge total game changer. I can see you all saving money in the long run.... great video as always
Yeah have been looking into it more and more but big leap lol
What vinyl to use for stencils???
Good vid man..I've been away for a while and sorry I've not been showing support my dad is sick and I've gave up on trying to customise anymore.im sad about both.good to see u r going in hard still ..much love Bro 💚👊
Aw I’m sorry to hear that, hopefully he’s able to turn a corner for the better soon!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear I hope so to man.its been a rough time tbh n the fact I don't feel the drive to create anything makes it worse..thank you bruvah
Hey, so much value!! I have a question - did you know how to paint/draw before you started customizing kicks? Please shear your experience, thanks!
Yeah I originally went to school to study architecture so had dabbled around in a little bit of everything
Nice
My opimion is jacquard has the better paint for airbrushing, no 2thin or 2 hard.. with angelus i have alot of peeling amd cracking not just on plastic parts!
Last week I finished my first pair of AF1's and I wore them for a couple of days to test the durability. The creasing on the toe box is already removing the paint a little bit. I did al the necessary prepwork and followed the steps from your cleat video's. How can I keep this form happening and make the shoes more durable in the future?. The only thing I did differently is that I sanded the shoes by hand because the detail sander was messing up the stitching on the swoosh. Love the video's, they have really helped me a lot!
If possible first and foremost avoid painting areas where you’re more likely to have creasing such as toe boxes... or potentially allow those to be areas where you’re doing less layers of full paint, such as a splatter panel or light texturing.. this isn’t always possible with every design but in those cases you really wanna take the time to sand those areas where the creasing will occur even more thoroughly and perhaps even dye them underneath the paint
End of video, said you have more content on another social media,I couldn’t quite hear what it was.where else you post video?
Please, make a video about the pricing. I never know if the prices I make are too high or not enough
BjnCustM974 you’re in luck, we have a great video on that czcams.com/video/xVm2BeglBZg/video.html
Thanks
how do you wash shoess?
where i live the sell jacquard paint would love to buy angelus but we dont have them where i live is jacquard ok to use to paint leather shoes want to re do the white on my celtic nike dunks
Really Great Video!! One thing I want to see if you do a q + a again is if you mention Blah Blah Blah Vinyl, then put in a b roll of it and hole you are talking about it to
1. Interest viewers more
2. Show viewers what the product you are talking about looks like
That’s a great idea!
If I have a paint that has the word flat in front of it like flat black do I need to mix duller still?
I personally still do
I’m having a problem painting fabric. I have these black vans I’m using to experiment. I ordered Angelus flat black paint and 2 soft and I ordered Angelus Black dye. I’m trying to paint my shoe and not only look like it was fresh out the factory but I also want to feel the fabric I want to feel like there is no paint on there is that even possible when using paint and 2 soft? Because when I use the black dye on the other shoe it looks news and I can feel the fabric like nothing is even on there but when I use paint the feeling is just gone
It’s very important to be heat setting when using the paint method, however no matter what you will be altering the feel and texture of them slightly
You should custom hypor ko boxing shoes!🥊
"Multi-layer stenciling" ... Music to my ears.
Bro I just started doing customs thanks to u . Do u know anyway to get paint cheaper I’ve looked everywhere, are there stores that sell angelus at the store?
They’re in michaels stores but it may only be online.. there’s some mom and pop shops that carry it but just do some google searching as far as that goes.
Thanks For the help bro
How can I send u pics of my first custom
Angelus is very expensive in the UK 🙁
Buy in UK via amazon because in France it was again more expensive... 😒
Its expensive all over Europe, especially after you try to check out and the shipping price pops up
BRUH YOU FEEL THE PAIN TOO 😭
If you’re sanding the shoe by hand how will I know when to stop? So like, how is it going to feel?
Check out our more recent Air Force 1 custom video... there’s no direct look or feel since every single pair of shoes will react differently (literally one pair containing 2 shoes can have a different reaction) it’s all about taking the right amount of time to actually do the sanding process
How do you prevent tape residue on rubber midsoles and how do you remove it from fresh painted shoes?
Switching tapes mainly, I use scotch 2060 green tape for my main layer and then crepe paper to cover large surfaces below that main layer..
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Thanks, trying to get this tape game down.
Can I store a container of paint that already has duller mixed into it?
Schmidt Custom Footwear yup just gotta make sure to mix it well when you bring it out later
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear ok thank you because I am making a small character and I didnt want to waste any paint
thank you for making these vids they really helped me with my shoe business
#toothpickgang
Im painting with a brush all of the paint keeps on spreading to the sides. Do you know whats happening? @DeJesusCustomFootwear
I guess that’s something I’d have to see, but no I can’t think of why that would be
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear nevermind I think I didnt sand it enough because I tried to do it by hand
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear what will the shoe feel like when I am done sanding?
Jacqard or Createx ?
The angelus are to expensive in my country, Im looking for giveaways? haha I want to startt painting shoe ughh
Lab ur vids anyways..
Aldwin Ignacio what country you from
Same for me =))
Sirius Haddad I have the same problem and I am from the uk
Angulus is like 6 dollors
Mooka Myles in The Netherlands it’s €120,- for 12 little bottles of 18ml, so ‘it’s just 6 dollars’ is bullshit to say, because A) you didn’t even specify WHAT costs 6 dollars, and B) like this person said, they’re not from the US.
BUT @ V A N I L L A you don’t need the best of the best for practicing, use old shoes and use acrylics mixed with water and practice, but mostly, practice a steady hand and painting teeny tiny things, because idk if you wanna just throw on colours on the shoes, or make some detailed designs, but you’ll need a steady hand for both, even when you’re ‘just’ throwing colours on, you will need to paint the sides of the panels (like the sides of the Nike Swoosh), and you’ll either need a steady hand or be able to tape really well, so until you get the money to get you started, you can practice that.
Something you can also do is as a bottle (small or big) of paint for your birthday, graduation, anything where you would normally get money or gifts. You have a no, but there’s a chance at a yes, and even if you only end up with one or two colours, you can practice how to use them. I just bought my first set last week (hence the pricing above^), and they work similar to watered down acrylics). Also practice on regular canvas, hard plastics (like water bottles or something), pillow cases, jackets, jeans, etc. etc. I am still a beginner with Angelus paint but if you want more tips to try and copy it (with acrylics for example) then DM me on @alex_linders_art on instagram
How do you get your sand paper to stick on the sander?
Double sided tape, or just wrap a circle with masking tape
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear I finished sanding and it the leather on the af1 feels softer that the unsanded parts. Is it supposed to be like that?
Schmidt Custom Footwear definitely
Please can I use Angelus on fabrics? jacket or pants
Sure can
Ok thank you very much 😊
But please.. do you think it wash off after laundry?
How to paint chrome?
Really depends on the look you’re going for. To be honest it’s hard to do a true chrome, the closest you’ll typically see is a metallic silver with a high gloss. But that won’t have a mirror finish
Jesus im in GR and a 1oz angelus paint is about 10$. So alternatives are a must.
Yes definitely want to save up to buy the larger quantities in that case
I am a custom designer here in Jamaica, i need to buy bigger bottle of angelus paint
I always hear you saying "scuff them up" but I have no idea how to scuff them up, which specific materials need to be scuffed and how much scuff is enough. Video maybe?
I think this video or our gucci cleats video would help too... to scuff em up real good you’re gunna want to use scotch brite pads
czcams.com/video/9LhAw1xmi6Q/video.html
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear oh okay so scuffing doesn't apply to leather.
gouda grishhdoe it absolutely does.. I scuff and sand anything im painting outside of softer materials
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Okay thanks. Appreciate the help. Gonna give it a try.
Yo where did you get that Angelus shirt you're wearing?
Angelus used to sell em!
Wow! I really wasn't expecting a reply!!! I am such a fan of your custom work. You inspired me to explore my creative side. I just recently started customizing shoes and for someone like me who can't really draw or paint your videos are very helpful! Keep up the great artwork and thanks for all you do!
Would u sand a pair of Air Force ones that u are about to paint
Or in other words can u sand any shoe
Absolutely
My girlfriend has over 25 sells on her wary but doesn’t seem to be blowing up any tips? Her insta is kustomKicks559!
The people who run Angelus (especially on Instagram) are so petty. Will never support them again. See how they treat people, even people they sponsor
Couldn’t disagree more, angelus is run by a fabulous team of very helpful people. Responding to anybody and everybody with any questions they may have very promptly. And becoming a sponsored artist is one of the best things that’s ever happened to us.
Yea people at angelus are awesome people..your tripping..they even sent me free paint before.
