In my opinion I like path if Titans because pot care about there players but the isle like oh here’s a humanoid dinosaur that will never come but if these games are in early access but I don’t hate the isle but I like path of Titans more (in my opinion) and pot Titans will add each ability like the spin-off can sit in the sun and get heat or maybe they might add more damage like if attack the spinosaurus in the spine might reduce there heat ability or maybe when u attacks can feel the weight!

I think theres a few things about PoT's future you could have gone deeper into, or just didn't touch on, like the modding capabilities on PoT as well as AI dinoasurs, music, more maps, more dinosaurs, game modes, single player, etc, but overall I loved the video. I'll have to put more time into exploring Envirma, even though "coming soon" in the Isle feels a bit more like "your grand kids will get to see the release of this game."
(The combat system in PoT as of right now is also a placeholder. We don't have any clues to what their plans are, aside from body dragging, kill animations, latching and grabbing, and effects like bleed, poison, and ... bone break... )

      @xeno07_max20 Před 3 lety +1

But same goes for Evrima, all those things you mentioned were also talked about by The Isle’s devs. And also please keep in mind that Update 3 only took so long because they worked on two almost completely new playstyles one of which they have worked on the last time 4 years ago and the other they have never even worked on (or at least not in the Isle). And you might say that I don’t have proof that those updates will take less time but I actually have. Update 2 took less time than Update 3 did since they already hade the core ‘walking on land mechanic’ and had already fixed most bugs so that also implies to the future updates!

    Evrima Pros:
    -growth
    -balanced combat
-amazing light engine and graphics in general
-better dive and flight mechanic (now with update3)
    -spawn zones
    -very smooth animations
    Evrima cons:
    -essentially only 6 dinosaurs playable
-map looks good at first glance but is really very generic and lacks unique spots
-game is almost 5 years old now without being finished and updates take forever, so rarely any new content is added
-humans will be added to the game ruining the immersion
-some dinosaur models are inaccurate (scaly Utah, Hypsi with primary feathers etc.)
    -no skins yet
    PoT pros:
-already almost 20 playable dinos after only about a year in development
-new updates released often several times a month
-much more realistic and scientifically accurate dinosaur models
-map is much better designed with different biomes, small streams, ponds, ravines and caves/burrows
-there will be maps/servers with only contemporary dinosaurs playable, adding much more realism
    -no humans will be added
-different food iteams for different dinosaurs added last patch
    -water quality system
    -multiplatfrom crossplay
-interspecies groups between for herbies and carnies respectively (e.g. Stego can group with a campto but not with a cerato)
    -custom skins, unlockable through quests
-quests give you something to do
    PoT cons:
    -No growth yet
-combat is very unbalanced yet, herbies being generally to op and fast (e.g. Styraco being faster and having more stamina than Cerato)
-map is almost to big for 100 players (even tho larger servers are planned)
-graphics are slightly worse (most likely due to the mobile compability)
-No spawn regions, you'll spawn anywhere on the map
-almost immidiate death after food/water runs out
    -animations aren't as smooth

I feel like for once there's a fair question in a PoT/Isle comparison. "Which is worth it?" Both can be worth it, but it's such a more fair question compared to "which is better." One game is much cheaper, the other is way more expensive, and they both have very different types of communities/developers. "Is it worth it" is such a better question, since it's not comparing which game is better, it's comparing if a person would find either or both games worth the money and time.

While I love Path of Titans more, I do enjoy the environment of The Isle and do play it on occasion. Path if Titans just has more updates, more dinosaurs that come out every month alongside persistent bug fixes. Whereas the Isle fixes those bugs there and then and you don't have many issues. But in honesty, I like the Path of Titans Devs more as they are more interactive with their community and their game may not have the sniffing idea that The Isle there but it is primarily a survival game. Sniffing takes away surviving for me, it makes me find food too easy. Path of Titans you have to ambush your prey and forage like a Dinosaur should do.
I'm in the middle between both games. But I think the games shouldn't be put in contest to each other. They fill different niches and both side of players can enjoy qualities of both. The problem is comparing the games and going into either with the expectations of the other game is just not the way to go about it.
Also, Path of Titans updated their combat abilities for their dinosaurs.

I don’t really know much about the isle evrima, but I do know quite a bit about PoT and I noticed there were a few things that were not mentioned when talking about PoT’s development and future. Firstly and most importantly (imo) combat. I saw that you mentioned that everything in evrima had something unique about it and did not say this about PoT, however while this might not be the case now, PoT has plans to make each dinosaur very unique and different from eachother; for example, lambeosaurus is confirmed to be able to heal allies, sarcosuchus will have a lunge ability, raptors will get the ability to pounce, allosaurus will (when it comes out) have tho ability to latch on to targets and hold them in place and that’s just to name a few + the fact that the lead developer has stated that each animal will have up to 10 abilities it can use at any time along with more that can be switched out. Also PoT’s combat is very placeholder, things like collision and locational damage (both of which are already implemented in the game btw) are still a heavy wip. PoT also had plans for more food items and more in depth diets, a second map, fully aquatic animals and flyers and that’s just to name a few.
But seriously though, great video, most people in the dinosaur game genre are usually very biased towards one game or another for some reason, it’s nice to see someone who can keep an open mind and see the pros and cons of both games without letting emotions get in the way. For me the Best goal in a dinosaur game is just growing up the dinosaur and surviving, not doing quests to win skins. POT does not have point on that from my part but i know some players like that and i respect. Like it just does not feel the purpose of a survival dinosaur game and combating it feels more like a competition of skins game. That's not what i am looking for. Evrima does have what i am looking for. Immersion. Every dinosaur has their own mechanics like ptera can fish or deinosuchus can drown other dinos, Evrima does got my point on that. I hope the isle adds a system where if you’re constantly filling your hunger and food (with player dinos) you’ll get a growth boost, eating babies would be .5x, juvies 1x and adults 2x this’ll 100% make the game more fun for aggressive players. It’ll make the game feel even more like a survival game knowing you’re prey no matter what size you are. And for herbies there can be special bushes that look different from normal but are a little more harder to find and are smaller so groups can’t all snack on it. The affect at which your growth speed will be increased is only for a set amount of time meaning you’ll need to keep yourself fed and quenched as much as possible. But as far as the experience the player has, The Isle is very realistic and immersive. PoT will likely get more immersive as time goes on with new abilities and sound design upgrades, but its main aspect is going to be questing to get coins and that will always be a priority over Evrima's goal to gain perks by being realistic. So I was wondering, do you think they'll have a third installation of the game (so far they have two - Legacy & Evrima) that has humans and the people that don't want humans will stick to Legacy and Evrima? Many rules will be available for customization by the server admins so is as players will just have to find the servers that fit our desires for the games. @@J72Gaming Thanks for the great news and the interaction so far. Just subbed to your channel. One more question, do you have any videos or anything regarding Beasts of Bermuda? Alongside POT and The Isle, it seems to make up the "big 3" of dinosaur survival games. So I was curious how BOB would compare to POT and TI.

I currently own The Isle and was looking at Path of Titans with a "Grass is greener" mentality, so I came to this video trying to see if it was justified. Ironically, my main problem with Evrima is the whole "grass is greener". I love that PoT seems to have more brown, a dusty "red dirt" kind of muddyness in some locations, you can see the pebbles and rocks on the shores. Whereas with Evrima... it's pretty much just that same saturated green for grass, the few open plains areas where there aren't trees and bushes so thick you can't enjoy seeing anything (and so many players have been complaining about the thick vegetation causing them to fall off cliffs.) The map doesn't look as enjoyable to play on... on top of how the devs refuse to give us an in-game map, whereas PoT looks like you get an MMOesque style minimap, quests, and all in a nicer UI.
I actually kindof hate The Isle's silly glowy particle system for Scenting, right now, worse than the glows from Legacy.
But, your review implying that The Isle's combat and "dinosaur weightyness" feels better is giving me pause, I like what I see about PoT, but is the handling and combat truly worse?
And honestly, I like the look of the PoT dinosaurs better. The Isle is simply going abysmally slow in adding new species, who knows how many years it would take them to get around to adding various colored textures per species.
But... the fact that PoT isn't on Steam is a QoL convenience problem for me, I prefer to purchase on Steam. Ugh. Why couldn't they just have combined into one good game sooner.
And that bit about The Isle's Elder system... not excited for it at all. I certainly won't use it. I prefer maining a dinosaur and not having my time wasted (in a game where you already die so much and have so many growth hours wasting your time)... so why screw yourself becoming an Elder? Not worth, imo.

  • @mintytea9575
    @mintytea9575 Před rokem

I definetely have a soft spot for The isle ( The game, not the devs. ). I am sure that POT is a good game for many people but recently I have only been finding more reasons to support why I do not want to play the game. Personally I like a more realistic approach, the quest system has therefore really put a sour taste on my tongue. For me it is more of eating to survive just so that I can eat more and survive a little bit longer. The quest system really does need to approve though, not because I would want to play it either way but for the people who actually want to use it. From what i've seen it only allows you drinking/eating quests, location finders, picking up objects and etc. Not only that but the slot system allows you to rage kill a person that has previously killed your other dino ( I do not understand the system but I know that there are slots for your dinos )
The fighting style is a big factor in my enjoyment, which from what i've seen is quite choppy for path of titans. The isle has a more smoother and a more enjoyable playstyle when it comes to fighting. I hear a lot of people discussing whether or not these games take skill when it comes to combat, and to this I say both. The isle has started focusing on a playstyle that makes it more difficult for example utahraptors (or whatever they are called now, I honestly don't really care ) to kill large dinosaurs. It is still possible, however you can't simply ride anyone to death. In path of titans they have sort of a similar playstyle in which it takes a bit of skill. Something I have noticed (mostly an assumption) is that smaller dinos can kill like really big targets. For example the Metri that can drain stamina. Not only that but the sluggish turns allow for much easier ''tail riding'' despite the tail smack being an option. The isle has smooth alt turns that almost allow dinos to turn on the spot, while dinosaurs like the stegosaurus have the natural advantage of having a spiked tail.
The isle definetely looks the best, despite the whacky lighting sometimes being a bother. Right now the map kinda feels a bit boring with not much variety in the different locations but the graphics are by far the best I have seen in dinosaur games. The water is also much better than path of titans water in my opinion, not to mention that even more details will be put into it in the future. There are different ai spawns in the isle and path of titans water sources, however I must say that The isle still takes the cake on that one. Not only do they have fish but they also have frogs and sea turtles, I believe crabs will be added in the future as well. I know that a lot of people will disagree but in my opinion I find the path of titans maps and models to be sort of dull and not very exciting to look at. The map has generic lighting with an added day and night cycle. The foliage is quite bland and the trees seem to go forever. I personally feel like the water needs a bit more work put into it and the foliage especially. Grasslands basically do not exist. The models of the dinosaur are fine, but they look a bit smooth to me. I want to see them wrinkles!
Many people argue that path of titans have more dinosaur than the isle but I do feel like their playstyles blend together way too much. Some creatures even look like they are younger versions of another species! They need a lot more variety in body movements and combat tactics.
In conclusion, the isle is more of a hardcore survival game while I feel like path of titans is more of a relaxing game to hop onto after work. It does not seem like you'd really be afraid of losing your dino, especially since it is so easy to grow them. Not only that but path of titans players seem more forgiving than what the isle players seem to be. I do believe that path of titans has a better community and better devs than the isle does ( Not in skill ). The isle seems to have a bit more ''skilled'' developers in the sense that the graphis look better despite having been run in UE4 while path of titans has been run in UE5 ( The isle evrima is now being run in UE5 as well ) and the models, animations and concept art is just amazing. Both games are good depending on who you are, these are just my thoughts on the games.
Ps: I am aware that The isle devs are somewhat mean and annoying per say, or at least they seem like it to me. I get all itchy whenever I have to hear them complain about something. This however does not spoil my enjoyment of the game. Something can still be enjoyed despite being made by someone you disagree with.

Haven’t tried Path of Titans yet. And maybe I’m just not enough of a gamer, esp on the multiplayer side of things, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to play the Isle.
I wish I knew all of this ahead if time.
I didn’t have any friends to play with to help guide me through it, but I went into a random server, control instructions popped up for a minute before they disappeared and I didn’t know how to get them back, realized you had to go to another website to download a map to figure out where u were, saw no one around, and the chat basically ignored any of my questions.
So the few times I played chalked up to following the scent of water or plants to eat (always seemed super far away) and would stuck near the water source and hide in a bush because I was too skeptical about venturing too far out and losing where I was before and dying of thirst lol.
So I’d either die of starvation/thirst pretty quickly, or the one player I would find would be hostile and kill me immediately…and I didn’t know how to defend myself. 💀
I sound like such a noob, I know it, but my god-makes me afraid to buy and try another if it ends up being the same experience. Idk how you dino gamers do it lol

Yes and I don’t appreciate people directly comparing these games with each other. This video did it much better comparing pros and cons since I feel like PoT is a semi Rp/semi Survival game (because of the quest/group quest system and because most people don’t think ‘I must survive!’ but ‘welp Imma chill out with that carnivore at a lake without needing to worry about being eaten’) and The Isle/Evrima is a Horror Survival game (since they will add tribals, hypers, a darker night, gore ect. and you (especially in the future will) need to be scared about drinking, walking through the jungle, walking through tall grass, pretty much anything). And as you said both games are good in what they are doing.

I worry that the mobile crossplay might be holding PoT back, some content has been cut due to it and it is also the reason combat and movement have a tendency to be clunky as they are, i.e going up and down in water requires you to use two separate buttons, or the removal of directional attacks, as a system where looking into the direction of a hit (like in the Isle, Ark, etc) is not possible for mobile players.
I love PoT, I just wish it would decide to live up to it's full potential, not being held down by mobile restrictions.
Not that mobile support should be dropped, but to separate mobile and console/pc.

    • @J72Gaming
      @J72Gaming  Před 3 lety +1

I agree with the concerns towards limiting PoT's potential due to the requirement of mobile controls. As a PC gamer, I will never mess with it on mobile so its easy for me to wish it wouldn't interfere with the development, however I know there are a lot of people who don't own a PC but do own a mobile device, so for them this game is perfect.
