  • A few weeks ago, I watched Baby Reindeer, a beautifully written show available on Netflix. It's based on the true story of the show's writer Richard Gadd, his life and encounter with Martha Scott, a convicted stalker. I immediately knew it needed to be an episode of the podcast, as it masterfully addresses a multitude of extremely poignant and profound topics. It is such an honest and relatable depiction of Life! In Baby Reindeer, Donny (the main character, played by Richard Gadd) acknowledges that his self-hatred and low self-esteem played an enormous part in his continuous interactions/relation with stalker Martha Scott (played by Jessica Gunning) and other abusive predatory people he meets in his life. How can you not relate to that?
This is what we are talking about today in this episode of A Seat With Me. Self-hatred, low self-esteem and low self-respect can and will lead you down the wrong path, throughout your life. Your pursuit of happiness, love, success etc... must be rooted in self-love in order to successfully reach your goals. Easier said than done, I know, but an absolute necessity.
Admittedly, Donny kind of enjoys the attention he gets from his stalker, but why is that? And what can we learn from him? (Spoiler alert: A LOT!)
With gut-wrenching honesty, Donny dares to dig deep within himself to go to the roots of his own existence, gifting us much needed life lessons and a lot to think about and discuss.
So come on and take, a seat with me.
