You can stop the walking animation of the sprites in line 148, just change true to false

Thanks so much for posting this. Though I can't seem to find where to keep my characters from appearing to move forward in battle either.
I've had RPG Maker VX Ace for almost 2 years and back then I had given up scripts cuz I couldn't understand it especially Victors Script fast forward to present time, I'm older and smarter and I try to tackle adding scripts to my games and this is SO EASY, just put it in and you're pretty much done (if just want the side view). Thanks for this tutorial, I might just use this for my game with some HUD scripts. Question, is there a way to use enemy sprites instead of the static images?

I have a little issue, I have gotten the side script set up so that the characters are all good and my monsters are in the right spot but it shows the default damage message on the top of the screen instead of showing it on the monsters like yours does...
it worked pretty well! but the problem is the character sprites are stuc near the face sprite, had any solution?
Is there a way to make your character(s) face up? Like have them at the bottom of the screen (just above the battle menu) facing toward the enemy? I tried editing the script, but it didn't work out for me.
Is it possible to change the color scheme of my sprite in battle based on what ability they used last? If so can you point me in the right direction as to how?
is there a way to make characters look different in battle? like instead of the tiny body guys have like actual proportionate people?

I pasted the scripts in the right order and tehre is no error showing but when i start the battle , there is no battlers appearing , no custom GUI as shown in the video . What do i have to do ?

So, I got the scripts to work, but when I do a battle test, the players/fighters are on the bottom, even though I didn't edit the scripts.

I have a question, is there a way I can use this with a custom name showing?
At the start of my game the player can select their name/gender but the name doesn't show up with this script and I don't know enough about scripting to edit it myself.
It does pick up the right gender tho, just not the custom name.

***** Yes exactly, but I figured it out.
I left the actor names blank because the player could choose their name anyway, but this caused it to have no name in battle system, just the avatar of the actor.
Now I gave the actors a standard name which is also changable, and now it works perfectly when the player picks their own name.
is it possible to add a minigame to the system, like the circle clock game in shadow hearts, even in a simplified way, like with a bar that fills up or st ? its my fav choice and seems doable.
I have an issue where my character sprites (I made my own) are stuck above the portrait, I assumed it would just be a matter of moving the x and y coordinates further to 400 x 350 y and lower the y for each subsequent party member but that doesn't seem to change anything.
Anyone else have this issue or know how best to approach it?

pops up for me with just the Core engine, battle engine and visual battlers installed. How do I fix it? I'm not huge into code and have no idea how to fix this issue. Please help.
Okay this is an interesting battle view, but can the game be put into a mode where its like the legend of Zelda where you don't initiate a battle sequence to attack?
Quick question: I have Luna Engine Installed... Does Visual Battlers Work with it or should I use Symphony Battle Engine? In that case... I can't really make it work...

You have to adjust them manulally or get some at the new resolution

You always need to have backups before installing any scripts. And you must remember these scripts are not made by me. You can always uninstall the script.

i don't now if somebody else already asked this but even when you clicked on the defend button your character moves forward ...i think its a little bit weird that to defend him self he goes forward can i change that??? (sorry for the bad English)
It doesn't work for me unless I resize the resolution back to the default values. Then it works.
on visual battlers line 296 i have a error: type error occured " nil can't be coerced into fixnum"

So i did all that was shown... but the side battler will not work for me.... and i have VX Ace :( im not really good at scripting but i did everything and copyed and pasted where it was shown to go and stuff but it still doesn't work for me

For some reason Im getting an error Script 121: Name Error occurred Uninitialized constant object: game_character. I looked to see i never touched it I don't know whats wrong.

Hmm when i copy all 3 scripts over i get a system stack error (someone commented on this being related to two of the same scripts running at once?) i deleted the battle script and the visual battlers and then try the battle test and it reverts back to the normal view. not sure what to do :S
Scratch that, deleted all restarted video done the same thing and now it's working

I deleted the "Ace Core Engine" part but kept the codes for "Visual Battlers" and "Ace Battle Engine". it seems to work....
The background is normal when I test teh battles, but when I actually ahve the battles when I play my game the background is like all blurred up, anyone know how to fix that?

I don't understant i did all this, placed the scripts even with the same name that you use on them, and when i test battle nothing changes. Is just like allways default Rpg maker xv ace battle system :( /////////////// OKEY LOL , the problema was, even if you accept the screen after placing all scrypts, you have to save changes on proyect too xD. Never mind !
