Our Son Had Emergency Brain Surgery // Home from the Hospital

- Thank you guys so much for all your prayers this week. Our son Lincoln was rushed in for emergency brain surgery last week - first to drain the spinal fluid that was putting so much pressure on his brain that he couldn't wake up, then a second surgery a few days later to remove the clot and create a new pathway to divert the flow in the future. Lincoln has a rare brain disease called Moyamoya that caused him to have strokes as a baby, giving him left side hemiplegic cerebral palsy, and a much higher risk of future strokes. These 2 surgeries were exactly 5 years to the day since his 2 surgeries to re-vascularize his brain in 2018. God saw him through then. And saw him through now. Our little boy is a walking miracle. So grateful.

Being a parent to a special needs child takes strength, love, patience and energy. The many appointments, hospital stays and medical emergencies takes alot out of you. Keep your head up and remember to take time for you to replenish your energy stores so you can continue to keep going. Lincoln is a little warrior. Super scary hugs stay strong! I've been where Lincoln is. Cannot imagine what I put my parents through. Not exactly the same but scary non the less. I was born with hydrocephalus and have had 19 brain surgeries thus far.

I'm on the natural side you could try the use of cayenne pepper that is if he isn't on any blood thinners. Cayenne pepper helps with blood circulation it possibly won't help with the past strokes but maybe get the blood moving I know this because of my great uncle whom lived so long with a brain tumor unbenoned to him it was discovered in his 90s before he passed away but the doctors think that the cayenne pepper he consumed played part in helping the circulation in his brain and around the tumor this is only to share what happened with my uncle. Ps my great uncle was a very stubborn person and difficult to get him to see a doctor for anything on a side note.

My heart was breaking as I listened to you talking about Lincoln. Scary episode for him, as well as your family. I feel your pain. Lincoln is so brave and such a ray of sunshine. Steven and Amanda, you and your family and Lincoln are in my prayers. I fully understand what you were going through. You were at a wonderful hospital with all the resources available to you. Back in 1970 we spent almost a year off and on at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. Our beloved daughter who was about 2 years old at the time, was diagnosed with a teratoma tumor at the base of her spine. Back then we did not have use of Internet, and the library was not much help. I had never heard the word, teratoma tumor, nor did I really understood what chemotherapy or radiation was. Our precious little daughter, Karen died in 1970 , at 32 months old. It was the hardest time that I have ever been through caring for my daughter, spending time in the hospital with her, and leaving our little five year old boy with friends and family.
