Did Zamperla LEAK EVERYTHING for Dragster Reimagined?! | Cedar Point 2024

- We just got Some INSANE Dragster Reimagined news today as It looks like Zamperla may have just LEAKED all the details on their website. Let's dive in and talk about it!
So earlier today, if you were to go on Zamperla's website, you were able to see details about their Top Thrill 2 project. Now, it needs to be said, this afternoon when I try to access the website all I get is a 503 service error, but even under the Google Search results you still see Top Thrill 2 listed as a subheading.
Now many others out there were actually able to capture all of the details posted on the website and I'll go over them here and give my take on what I think about the leaked details assuming they're all true.
First off, the fact that Zamperla is the manufacturer working on the project doesn't really bother me. I know a lot of people wanted Intamin to do it, given that they were the ORIGINAL Top Thrill Dragster Manufacturer, but Cedar Point went with the cheaper option here and I don't think it's a bad thing since we'll still have the old Intamin track on portions of the ride.
Now for the ride stats and layout, it looks like we'll be starting off with an initial forward launch of 74 mph taking you partially up the current 420' tophat, then we'll get a rollback into a 101 mph backward launch which will then propel riders up a 420' backward vertical spike, only then to fall back down into another forward launch section reaching the same 120 mph top speed as the original ride as you'll then go over the tophat and through the finish line just like before.
Another thing worth noting is that the new coaster will operate with 3 5-car trains with a capacity of 20 riders per train. Not a capacity monster by any means, but if we're assuming less downtime compared to the original Dragster than I don't think it'll be a big issue.
And as for the proposed layout and stats, this is about on par with what I was expecting. I like that the backward vertical spike is the same height as the tophat as that will give the skyline it's 2nd high point which will be level with the current highpoint, and I think that descent from the spike could be one of the best airtime moments of the park as you change directions quickly after the backward launch. I imagine it'll be a better freefall moment compared to the standard tophat descent at least. Overall, if this is what it ends up being, I think it will at least rival the original Top Thrill Dragster. You might not get that same gut punch with the initial 120mph launch BUT you will get a much longer ride experience with 3 different launches and a LOT more airtime, hopefully all while being much more reliable.
Now again, I'm not saying this will end up being 100% legit by any means but I'm just hear to provide all the info I've been able to gather thus far before Cedar Point's official announcement coming this Tuesday August 1st 2023.
But as always, I'm curious to know what you all think about this leak. How do you feel about the ride layout and stats, and perhaps more importantly, do you think that this leak on Zamperla's website was even legit? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts down in the comments.
With that being said, thank you so much for watching guys! As always I've been Mike with TroutTakes and we'll see you all real soon!

Thanks4Posting. Out of all the vids that were posted today, yours offered the best objective analysis. As 99% of the vids/comments are like: "Why did Cedar Point go cheap", "I'm disappointed, what a waste", "I was expecting at least (2) airtime hills"
Thanks for the kind words! I try to be as optimistic yet realistic as possible.
I agree!
The best video covering this topic today. Awesome man!!
I appreciate that! Thanks for the kind words!
The background song sounds like halo 2 when he's "giving the covenant back their bomb"
Lol I don’t know much about Halo 2 but I’ll take your word for it. Just a random “dramatic” music I downloaded from YT free music library. 👍
The only way I’ll be disappointed is if the new ride regularly goes down multiple times a day or is closed for days on end due to mechanical reasons.
Couldn’t agree more!
Think about it I don't think they would have did that on purpose
This is Cedar Point
I will laugh so hard if Zamperla really did troll the enthusiast community.
You can’t believe that.
Kind of disappointing, it would have been really cool if they had 3 top hats maybe, small medium, main, with the 3 launches
What in the Roller Coaster Tycoon kinda ish is that?
If I wanted a longer ride experience, I'd ride a different ride. TTD was all about that instant torque gut punch. Accelerating at a slower speed to make it over the same top hat will be very underwhelming.
Imagine complaining about cedar point adding a launch to a rollback , a backwards launch , a spike , and another launch to get over the top 😂😂 all they did was make an amazing ride even better !
@@jo3yd12 Nobody who has ever been in a dragster wishes it had to roll back and forth to gain enough momentum to make it to the finish line. Being shot out of a cannon > whatever this ends up being.
Totally agree, that launch was possibly my favorite coaster element ever. I guess I’m just glad they’re somehow repurposing it so the middle of the park doesn’t feel like so much of a ghost town like it has the past 2 years.
@@joesmith6972 that’s weird , because I thought getting a rollback on the original dragster was this crazy amazing special thing ? But now that it’s part of the ride it’s a problem ? Also why are you comparing a real drag car to a rollercoaster ? 😂😂 that’s like saying the guardians of the galaxy roller coaster shouldn’t be made because it doesn’t correctly simulate you flying through the galaxy 😂😂
The launch on the way back was described to be the same exact speed as before.. only this time you're coming from a 420ft spike. So, there is no change to the acceleration of getting over the top hat.
My last hope is that these leaks were faked intentionally and they still have some trick up their sleeves. Although realistically that is absolutely not the case and ill just have to accept my disappointment.
It’d for sure be great if there’s something more! 🤞
101 mph for a 420' tall spike, but 120 mph for the same height top hat? 🤔
Yes because it doesn’t have to make it “over” the spike , just go up it , that’s why it takes less speed .
Yeah I doubt they’d want you anywhere close to actually scaling the full 420’ backward spike so realistically you might get up to around the 400’ mark max.
it was on purpose.
I'm not sure that a fully machined aluminum chassis is the cheaper option.
I suppose I offered up the “cheaper option” statement too freely as I’m not sure of whether or not other manufacturers were even considered or what the accompanying price tags associated with said propositions would be. My mistake 🤷♂️🫡
i hoped for 500ft or the Hight record tbh
Very underwhelmed. Was hoping the spike would be larger and the faster launches. Also they could have added a speed hill to it. Hopefully, they will retheme that midway to racing some how. They took the cheap way out of it and its not going to bring the guests in to the park like they think it is.
I hear you, and it all depends on what you were expecting, right? I personally didn’t really expect anything other than just a more reliable LSM replacement over the original launch system. Anything more than that is gravy to me.
Well this a great start to Cedar Fairs relationship with Zamperla.
A sign of things to come?? Lol.
Well they already got their initiation with Wild Mouse this year so I’ll assume the best in that they’ve been able to work out many kinks with that smaller project.
Does it have Fast Lane
Prob
It IS the fast lane 😉
I fully expect that it will, but Cedar Point will be the ultimate arbiter on this once it’s officially announced. 🤞
I appreciate you!
They ruined it spikes are boring I'd rather had a longer layout
I hear you. Some inversions or airtime hills would be great after the tophat. I suppose I personally view that spike as a slightly extended layout, which I’ll take over a non-operational ride like the past 2 years.
Gotta be fake, not 1mph faster or 1ft higher? Cmon that's some bs
But those “multi-launch” records…😆
@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures I know right! "Triple launch" I could be wrong, but I'll wait for the official announcement.
I think it was on purpose….I think it was fake
If it DOES end up being fake I think I’d be even more fascinated as that would seem like an even bigger story and I’m here with my popcorn for every second of it! 🍿
Im calling either a hack or a misdirection. The numbers dont make sense, and the page seemed way too unpolished to be meant for public eyes.
