  • Now this was a lot of fun to drive and review!
    The newly refreshed i30 N.... and in particular this stunning Fastback N features Hyundai's latest 8 speed wet-type DCT semi-automatic. with 280 PS available from the 2.0 T-GDi petrol engine, this car has all of the key ingredients to make this a serious B-road blast!
    The new 8 Speed DCT transmission can deliver a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds when using Launch Control & Overboost.
    When the first generation i30 N was launched back in early 2018, it quickly earned a badge for being a brilliant drivers car thanks to Hyundai making some serious investment into the N brand.
    This latest iteration does not disappoint and in fact it drives as well as; if not better, than the Golf GTI Clubsport that I drove on the channel a few weeks back.
    If power, handling and looks are on the shopping list, the N makes a lot of sense and what's more is it still comes with Hyundai's fantastic 5 year warranty!
    Thank you to Hyundai UK PR & Press for the loan of the car.

    I think this must be the only UK review I’ve seen of the FL Fastback N. Super lucky you got hold of one to review, I’ve read they’re on a ridiculously long waiting list to get shipped over to UK. (Although appear to be abundant in mainland Europe and Australia!) I’ve got a 2019 Fastback N which I’ve had about 4 months and it’s a joy. But I’d really like the FL at some point.

    I ve got a 2018 I30N, it's the only car I test drove, bought without haggling and drove home the first day, it's that good! I ve got a Ram Air cone filter on it, Turbosmart Blow off valve (always wanted a car with a dump valve on since I was 17, I m now 44) RPM Performance Flexi pipe that increase the diameter of the exhaust from the front pipes down from the engine, give a few more bhp and louder pops and bangs also RPM Performance exhaust tips on. Such a great around car. LOVE IT!

      DCT is such a good setup for the UK because of all of the stop/start traffic. For those normal days just having the ability to run in Auto with the suspension slackened off makes the car easy to drive. Then for those weekend blasts, everything can be turned up to 11!

    • @CARfariPark
      @CARfariPark  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Sergio, thanks for the positive feedback. Your question is a difficult one to answer as there are a number of contributing factors. If it was purely an emotional and driver engagement decision, then it would 100% be the i30, however if the purchase was heavily influenced by financial/total cost of ownership it would be a close call. VWs residual values are stronger, making the Golf more attractive on finance plans but then again Hyundai have the 5 year warranty. It would be a very difficult decision and you'll have seen I have driven both.
      Both good cars. Buy the one you'd most like to see on your driveway and enjoy blasting around the countryside!

      Everything is filmed in 4K Raw, I then colour grade all of the footage in post. I use a combination of a Canon DSLR, Z-Cam, Insta 360 1-inch and a DJI drone.
      The problem with all of that is, I have so many cases of gear but I enjoy the filming and editing as much as creating the review.

    If one was to add roof racks onto these cars, do the "feet" of the car bolt onto specific fittings on the roof or do they require clamps on the side, often ruining the lines of the car?

    • @CARfariPark
      @CARfariPark  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Chris, I'm sorry I don't know the answer to that with any accuracy. Looking online, it appears several owners have fitted roof bars to old model hatch and Fastback cars. They locate into the roof gutter, not clamped around the body. I would assume that the face-lift models would be the same but if in doubt ring your local Hyundai retailer.

    Would you go for this over the kona n?

    • @CARfariPark
      @CARfariPark  Před 2 lety +1

      I've driven the KONA N but not completed a review on it yet. I like the look of the KONA and it doesn't feel or drive like a typical CUV/SUV.
      In reality it shares most of the i30 N components so it comes down to whether you prefer a small crossover style than a hatch or Fastback. The KONA is just less practical when it comes to passenger space and boot capacity.
      If I were spending the money I would probably pick between the i20 N (and save some cash) or buy the more powerful i30. Both would be strong choice and a hoot to own.
      Hope that helps.

      @@jamesbedford2853 I'd go with the Fastback then. It has really good size boot and I managed get all of my camera gear in it, which includes 3 large flight cases, a big holdall, drone case, two tripods, camera rucksack and carrier full of car cleaning gear. There was still room and that was without touching the parcel shelf or folding the seats.
