My dad and I suffered from my mother’s abuse: and when I was little my daddy would play this song and sit in my room with me till I fell asleep because I was so stressed from my moms bullshit. (Mind you I was 8/9) I’m 27 years old now, and to this day; I can turn this song on and really think “I need my dad” and my phone will ring. 🖤💜✨ there’s something truly magic about this song.
Unfortunately she is getting dimentia now and it's even worse. Anytime she sees me she tells me everything I'm doing wrong and never ever has one good thing to say. She told me that a lady that goes to my church is POS the other day. Her exact words. Just crazy sh--. But I've learned I wasn't put here to please her or anyone else for that matter. Took me a long time to realize that. Once I finally realized that my life has been much much better. Misery loves company but I refuse to let her bring me down any more. It's a shame for her own sake that she is completely miserable 24 hrs. a day. I'm not sure what is the cause of the misery. I got her to go to counseling once with me like 10 years ago and we left she said my counselor was an idiot and told I was an idiot for going to see the counselor. Haha. It's almost getting comical to me at this point.

Just dropping this here to vent. I lost my 2nd dad less than a year ago. My mom remarried after my dad passed away. My stepdad is wonderful and loved my mom so much, treated her like a queen. And then, he passed away too. It was all of a sudden. He just complained of a tummy ache on Sunday morning. Took him to ER. He was then transferred to ICU on Monday evening. He passed away Wednesday evening. All those time from Sunday morning, we did not see him due to COVID restrictions. At first it was only tummy ache, then complications. It was all of a sudden, losing someone like that and not being able to be there next to them. Tonight, my friend's dad got rushed to ICU due to pneumonia. He is in the 70s. After losing someone so quick, I'm paranoid when people get rushed to the hospital. You'll never know when it is the last conversation you will have. Take your time. Cherish each moment. Be there for somebody.
That's terrifying to think of, losing someone at anytime, no warning or anything. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I hope your friend's dad is doing ok. Stay strong ♥
You know what's cool? The people who came here to listen to this song are probably all over the spectrum in terms of nationality, race, gender, religion, political beliefs, economic status, etc. but everyone is united by this song and the fact that we understand the importance of friendship. God bless all of you! ❤ ~:~
Me and my dad lived in an RV for years but every night we ate we listened to a disk full of James Taylor's songs, but this one I remember the most. and I have nothing but good memories of this song, every time I hear it I cry and think of the great memories I had as a kid. This song has a great place in my heart. keep in mind at the time I was only 6-8
Seriously who can dislike such a beautiful and soulful song !? Gosh his voice and the guitar and the lyrics Perfection! I never get bored of listening to it over and over..
James Clary sure beats the ignorant generation that you're a part of! Why hate songs? ? Did You know that if you don't like a song, you don't have to listen to it? ? You can accomplish that in different ways. 1. Turn the song off 2. Change the radio statio 3. Don't download the song, or watch the video on line 4. Did I mention, Turn OFF the music? ?
This song was popular when I got saved back in 1971. After I got saved I lost my son who was only 1 year old. This song reminded me and still to this day reminds me that Jesus is and always will be my friend.
You basically just summed up everything about every song I've ever known I don't have no song for anybody like that either but I love three people comments on it
I left home when I was 20 or so. My mom and I always enjoyed each other’s company. She used to take me out of school early just to spend time with me. When I grew up I didn’t call her enough. I don’t know why. She’d ask “Why don’t you call more?! I want to talk to you baby!”. I always loved how she’d say “baby”, or how she said my name. Or how she always knew the right things to say to soothe my mind. She died a few years ago and I just weep every time I listen to this song. The music, wisdom and life she shared with me is never gone. This one is for mom
This is a song I sang to my newborn son who is now a 24 year old man I sang this song to hom almost every night as I held him in my arms rocking him to sleep. At 5 years old I continued to sing this song at his bedside. Now at 24 years old I can send him this song through text message or Instagram or just play it on CZcams when lifes challenges become over whelming. He'll respond with a " thank you mom I feel better now." Thank you James Taylor and Carole King for your so awesome and beautiful song with such beautiful lyrics. I will forever believe this song was written especially for me and my baby boy.❤❤
"If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds, And that old north wind should begin to blow - Keep your head together, and call my name out loud now, And soon I'll be knockin' upon your door...." Several years ago one of my sons was in the military in Afghanistan. It was SO hard as his dad to watch him go, but before he left, I told him to remember that verse. I don't know if it brought ever brought him any comfort, but I know it brought me a measure of peace during that time. I thank the Lord that he came home safely.🙏
This was the lullaby I sang to my daughters when they were little. This past October my oldest had them play this when we danced at her wedding. I cried like a baby.
If you are feeling lonely I promise you it will get better! Trust in God, go within, and find healing. I know it sounds cliche but you are enough you are amazing you are unique! Love yourself first!❤ You are here for a reason!
I miss you dad....I love you always...mom misses you so...I don't know what to do without you...thank you for giving me this song..you use to play it on your guitar as I would sit memorized by your fingers sliding on the strings. Thank you for being my dad and the best daddy I could have ever asked for. I love you and we all miss you so dearly...I'll never stop missing you
Absolutely one of my favorite songs of all time..."JAMES TAYLOR" is the cream of the crop and a definite Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and this beautiful heartfelt song always gives me a lump in my throat every time I listen to it because it speaks from the heart 💜🙏...
Mom, You sang this song when you and dad got married in 1976. You sang this song at dad's funeral in 1982. You waited 38 years to see him again... You are with him now. You came running to see him again. You've got your friend back. Go and be with him.

Crying...no one knows what this song means to me...and it was on my wall this morning...as I am going through a hard hard time!!! Jesus thank you!! Thank you James Taylor..
James Taylor and Carole King, alongside Karen Carpenter have voices that relax the soul and the universe! Whitney’s ballads are also on that level also
I'm from mass. I banged on his door in Martha's Vinyard and he answered. He was with Carol King.i was only 18 with my girlfriend. I should have kept my girlfriend.
When the harmonies enter on the second chorus the dimensions of this song expand from a ray of sunshine in the shade to illumination. The third chorus is like taking a sunbath.
Who would’ve thought that 48 years later this song would give me some comfort in a really bad, sad time? I remember hearing this in my dads car when I was a kid. ‘Trying to keep my head together’ in 2021 ... nothing to do with covid either. Just life! ❤️
My husband sang this song to me at our wedding 47 years ago. He was my best friend all those years. He passed away a year ago in July 2022. This song still plays in my head when I need a friend and am missing him.
In the 60s and 70s, people wanted to forget the war, and they attached a lot of importance to true values, and they wrote and sang songs that will remain forever as a testimony of that unforgettable historical period.
God Bless. I Feel the same way. My mom passed away. She was that friend!!!! A lot of times we have friends but they are there for the good times. Good time friends but they scatter when we hit low times! R.I.P. MOM
"You've Got a Friend", a timeless classic has inspired many lives across the globe for many generations, and is still is until today. Oh, how I love this song!
Now I know what real meaning of this song hindi lang sa friend or kaklaseang kantang to ito ay para Kay papa God iwan ka man ng lahat sya never tumawag ka lang sakanya praise the Lord 💖😇🙏
This song hits me directly in the heart. To have a friend whom you know and feel when he dedicates this song to you, his feelings and words are right from his heart to yours are beyond words. This song by James Taylor was dedicated to me by my late husband. This was our song. Truer words have never been said to me by my husband. He was always there for me. Thank you so much to my husband and James Taylor!
I used to be a radio disc jockey in the 1970s. I would have folks call into the station. This song was on my playlist. The most meaningful times then were the calls I took. This song means a lot to me. I play it in my mind most every day. Carole King’s version too. Humanity is going thru a lot these days in 2024 now. Just play this song. We are all friends here if you resonate with this song. Yes, you’ve got a friend. ❤ steve

James Taylor is one of my favourite singer. His voice is very smoothing and sweet. Carole King the song composer for "You got a friend ". is awesome. I think if they team up to sing will be fantastic. Looking forward to hear more songs from both.
Sorry to hear you lost your dad mine died in 1976 you always miss them. At least your mum and dad had some time together although not as long as they would both have liked to have had

A friend of mine sang this song to me with a band playing at my local bar one evening. I was in a sad place after getting blindsided with a divorce I never saw coming. My boys were 5abd 2years old. Their mom sold the house, moved to another city and married another. This song performed for me lifted my spirit and healing did happen over time. Many thanks to my old friend, Margaret Beth.

4 yrs ago, My Dad had tickets to see James Taylor & ended up in the ER the night before. We were uncertain if he would make it but thankfully he made a full recovery. A few nights ago we went to see James Taylor live at the Hollywood Bowl. He sang this song & it was beautiful 😌🩵
Lord, everyone wants to hear these words and know that they are truthfully and sincerely meant. This is the only kind of friend I desire to be and the ONLY kind I hope to have. Nothing less will do.
When I hear this song, I think of how much Jesus loves us, and how when we turn to him, he embraces us no matter how we see ourselves, his love is there. What a great friend we have in Christ. 😀
I just hope he can forgive me for my new fuck up's. And hope some day he can make me feel happy about my life again. Especially my brother he is the one who is going through the most hell
@@carljohnson3884 The only one who needs to forgive you is you. Jesus, Source, anyone back Home is not judging us at all, that is too dense of a vibration. I was 16, my 1st girlfriend Bernie C. I was tall and lanky and she tiny, we would walk around the parks and rivers arm in arm. My first ever kiss was on a sloping river bank where I would have to go further down the bank so as we could kiss. One of the most wonderful times in my life. I returned to live in the same area after 40 years and still return to that same river bank and wonder what happened to the sweetest of girls. I floated home in pure happiness after that first kiss. An innocent time. This song reminds me of her. Thanks for the song and the memory of Bernie.
Just lost my precious mother on Easter Sunday. She was a absolutely beautiful so full of love and devotion to all of us, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. This song is the essence of her. She loved us so hard and never fails of always being there for us for anything and everything. I'm 59 and youngest of 7 children and she was the comfort, love, confidant and always there for each one of us. She did it with tenderness, love, and prayers... always praying for her children. God Bless you mamí. I'll feel u with me in my times of hurt and loneliness as well as times of happiness. I love you precious beautiful mamí. Que Diosito te bendiga.
we're always our mother's children no matter our age, or if they are living or have passed away. Nothing surpasses the love of a mother for her children.. my mother died 3 years ago and the pain and loss are sometimes overwhelming.
Instead of thinking about losing a person think about the good memories you shared with them in my case it was my Dad and my youngest brother My last moment with my brother was super bowl Sunday but we also had memories of Gilligan's island and building a sandbox at the beach and others my father actually was while I was in the last home l was in but. I also had thoughts of how much he achieved. His being a veteran in the military and a hero of the purple heart recipient and his John Wayne Movies and all of the western movies and shows we watched together in fact ihe picked my brother middle name which was Wayne l miss them both
James Taylor is a national Treasure. I just sent this link to my best friend who just lost her job of twenty years. Hold tight to your friends everyone!

It's crazy. My dad, rest his soul, loved this song and always sang it at the local after a few drinks. Lost him in 2015 to suicide and he never met my little girl who is only 2 and what's crazy, and brings a genuine tear to my eye is that she loves this song because of Shrek and for me, that's almost like my dad's way of saying hi to his granddaughter. It's always playing in my head how he'd have been like with her. I know without a doubt he'd love and adore her just like she would him. It's great to have things like this to always remind me of him and the fact that my little girl loves this song makes it all the more special for me.
I lost my father to suicide also. There is pain that we can imagine. Just because they leave does not mean that they didn't love us. Share his memory with others and he will always be alive.
My husband passed away 3 years ago. This song helps me to keep going when I am 'down & troubled".... I sing this song to myself (brings a tear to my eyes but makes me strong again), but sometimes listen to this. This is the best recording I have found of the song.
Im zstill going through my first breakup, its been months, i havent felt like i have with her in a long time. But thats gone now. This song really does make me sad but it somehow puts things into place
Fellowship can be good, but a relationship with Him is exactly what I needed too. So being human & believing His word, I am simply a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ. He’s been my best friend for years, so I understand.~
My dad is such a huge James Taylor fan. I listened to this song for the first time in many years. And I instantly remembered all the nights my parents would sing this to me to bed as a child. It’s easily been over 20 years ❤️
One of my Brother's favorite songs; this past August he passed away and I was asked to say something and all I could do was read these lyrics and though I sobbed through the whole reading and everyone felt the love and sorrow I felt, they also knew the heart and soul of my Brother.
Yes. Those "one year anniversary dates" are difficult. I am on a "prayer chain " (with a few friends and nurses I used to work with). We pray daily. And while I strongly believe in prayer I also believe God sends us others to comfort us if we ask. I had many people help me "thru" my parents deaths. ( I say "thru" not "over " , because I don't think we ever "get over" grief ). My dad took his own life and my mom had Alzheimers. I was just going thru some pictures of them to send to my nephews when I got your reply. Sorry if I have rambled on. Marybeth 💚🙏
Today is the first day in my life I am listening to this song and I’m 41. I’ve heard bits of this song my whole life I never really appreciated it, I thought it was too cheesy...not for me. Today though I had this particular song in my mind and I listened to it and now I understand why people love this song. I’m feeling down right now, and honestly nothing in my life is working the way I want it and I so wish someone would just tell me, “listen to this song, this is me for u.”
When you're down and troubled And you need some lovin' care And nothin', nothin' is goin' right Close your eyes and think of me And soon I will be there To brighten up even your darkest night You just call out my name And you know, wherever I am I'll come runnin' To see you again Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there You've got a friend If the sky above you Grows dark and full of clouds And that old north wind begins to blow Keep your head together And call my name out loud Soon you'll hear me knockin' at your door You just call out my name And you know, wherever I am I'll come runnin', runnin', yeah, yeah To see you again Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there, yes, I will Now, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend When people can be so cold? They'll hurt you, yes, and desert you And take your soul if you let them Oh, but don't you let them You just call out my name And you know, wherever I am I'll come runnin', runnin', yeah, yeah To see you again Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there, yes, I will You've got a friend You've got a friend Ain't it good to know you've got a friend Ain't it good to know, ain't it good to know Ain't it good to know You've got a friend Oh, yeah, now, you've got a friend Yeah baby, you've got a friend Oh, yeah, you've got a friend
EVERY DAY IS A BLESSING, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, GOD DOSEN'T GIVE US MORE THAN WHAT WE CAN HANDLE, HE'S THERE TO WIPE ALL OUR TEARS, GRIEVING THE LOSS OF LOVE ONE'S FEELING EMPTY, BUT GOD IS SO GOOD HE'S IN OUR PAIN AND SUFFERING. THANK YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG ❤❤❤✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏

That is so sad. I am truly sorry for your loss. ❤️🌹☮️💜
My condolences to you and your family🙏
Thanks for sharing this!
Shout out to not having any friends but being everyone’s friend

Me and my dad lived in an RV for years but every night we ate we listened to a disk full of James Taylor's songs, but this one I remember the most. and I have nothing but good memories of this song, every time I hear it I cry and think of the great memories I had as a kid. This song has a great place in my heart. keep in mind at the time I was only 6-8
It is a great song, written by Carole King.

Stupid people who grew up in wrong generation
James Clary sure beats the ignorant generation that you're a part of! Why hate songs? ? Did You know that if you don't like a song, you don't have to listen to it? ? You can accomplish that in different ways.
1. Turn the song off
2. Change the radio statio
3. Don't download the song,
or watch the video on line
4. Did I mention,
Turn OFF the music? ?
sure hold your breath and wait
This song was popular when I got saved back in 1971. After I got saved I lost my son who was only 1 year old. This song reminded me and still to this day reminds me that Jesus is and always will be my friend.

A beautiful song... So cool
You basically just summed up everything about every song I've ever known I don't have no song for anybody like that either but I love three people comments on it
My father was not just a person, he's my dad.
This is a song I sang to my newborn son who is now a 24 year old man
I sang this song to hom almost every night as I held him in my arms rocking him to sleep. At 5 years old I continued to sing this song at his bedside. Now at 24 years old I can send him this song through text message or Instagram or just play it on CZcams when lifes challenges become over whelming. He'll respond with a
" thank you mom I feel better now." Thank you James Taylor and Carole King for your so awesome and beautiful song with such beautiful lyrics. I will forever believe this song was written especially for me and my baby boy.❤❤
A music teacher taught me this song when I was a little boy. It's always been one of my favorites. Thank you music teacher, wherever you are.
"If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds,
And that old north wind should begin to blow -
Keep your head together, and call my name out loud now,
And soon I'll be knockin' upon your door...."
Several years ago one of my sons was in the military in Afghanistan.

Hi Peggy
🕊
Friendship a mistery to human nature..
Absolute truth!
When the harmonies enter on the second chorus the dimensions of this song expand from a ray of sunshine in the shade to illumination. The third chorus is like taking a sunbath.
After 50 years, this worthy song stands the test of time and always will do.
Who would’ve thought that 48 years later this song would give me some comfort in a really bad, sad time? I remember hearing this in my dads car when I was a kid. ‘Trying to keep my head together’ in 2021 ... nothing to do with covid either.
Just life! ❤️
Keep your chin up.
GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY!
I played this a thousand times as a teenager in the 70's..... lovely song.
My husband sang this song to me at our wedding 47 years ago. He was my best friend all those years. He passed away a year ago in July 2022. This song still plays in my head when I need a friend and am missing him.
I wish you the best. Be strong ❤
In the 60s and 70s, people wanted to forget the war, and they attached a lot of importance to true values, and they wrote and sang songs that will remain forever as a testimony of that unforgettable historical period.
So blessed to grow up in the 70’s
I've said this myself. James Taylor, Carpenters, John Denver, Bread etc etc were really heart to heart, easy listening, moving to a peaceful place.
This song reminds me of my father, he already passed away, and he was this friend, on the song, to me. Never found another one like that since.

This song hits me directly in the heart. To have a friend whom you know and feel when he dedicates this song to you, his feelings and words are right from his heart to yours are beyond words. From the bright green spring of 71, James sang Carole King's song, and did it well. Memories flow back of when I was 18!

So sorry for your loss. My dad also took his own life. May memories comfort you. 🙏💚

@@marybethphillips4925 Thank you so much. We just passed the one year mark of his passing. 😢
Marybeth 💚🙏

Oh, yeah, now, you've got a friend
Yeah baby, you've got a friend
Oh, yeah, you've got a friend
Thank you.
Tks for lyrics of this beautiful song
