You have reached outstanding quality's standards. You restore my faith in humanity although it only lasts few seconds after I close your videos but welp, this is infinitely better than the so called professional documentaries
hold on one sec ! just 1.5 k views??? I'm subscribing this now and suggesting Socratica to all my friends ! really wonderful! so much of info ! wow! plz continue doing so !
Socratica your most welcome ! really glad to see a reply ! I'm sure this channel will be a great success in the near future ! All the best ! God bless you !
Same here, i can't believe this channel has only 60k subs O_o I'd expect this kind of work to be a lot more famous have like a couple of million subs at least but it'll definitely keep growing! I also sent the link to my friends

Great video! I love how a sense of pretend and make-believe is woven into it. This reliance on imagination is a very important part of inspiring a sense of wonder. How many scientists can say they were inspired by fantastic tales and daydreams? Most I'd wager. How many were inspired by the Kardashians or the home shopping network, or infomercials? None. I hope.
I know we certainly grew up looking up to scientists and allowed to dream of new achievements by reading science fiction. Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov...we owe so much to them. I think you're right - I bet almost every scientist can say this was part of what shaped their interests.
This video is the best astronomy video, your graphics are amazing, I hope a very bright future for you and your team, and the speaker is very nice indeed, and the thing is she explains complex aspects in a very playful and easy way, thank you Socratica.
This was such a wonderful video. You guys pulled up all stops making this one. Serious applause for the professional effects, and as always, my favorite spokesperson delivering a wonderful performance of knowledge. The best educational video Socratica has done to date :)
High quality videos and interesting contents. You guys definitely deserve more subscribers. Introduced this channel to my younger siblings and friends as well :)
Great video. She looks she had fun making this, and I can see why. I was surprised to see the comment that it was "professional-looking" because I'd assumed that it was. Earth's air used to be mostly CO₂ too, so all we should need to do is get some plants or cyanobacteria going. Is there enough water near the ice caps for that? Plants should thrive in that atmosphere, although they might need a bit more nitrogen. Are the weighted suits enough to prevent muscle atrophy and loss of bone density? Are there any kind of feasible terraforming procedures would it take to increase the surface pressure? Why the crustal dichotomy? Is the thicker crust related to the smaller size and density not creating more heat and pressure in the core or the smaller gravitational gradient not pulling all that external iron in from the surface? Does the magnetite in the atmosphere also shield from UV radiation along with blue light? ..ready for her to do Mars video 2 anytime;) I also appreciate the effort to pronounce people's names correctly, from Évariste Galois to Schiaparelli.
I am continuously amazed at Liliana's language abilities. Fluency in so many languages, and perfect English with no accent! What is your secret to learning Ms Castro? What a great channel and website as well!
2:13 Why would we need a lot more fuel? Once we've got our course set wouldn't we just travel on inertial flight? Even if it's a longer trip it's still the same concept: point where we want to go, give thrust until we get to speed, shut off boosters and glide until we reach our destination. The only time we'd need more fuel is if we needed to make course corrections
Seems to me that the logistical requirements will cause a lot of problems for a trip. Not only do you need to think like a prepper as to what you're going to need, how long it will last and how you're going to get resupplied but you're going to have to be very picky as to who you bring, what everyone will do to stay busy and what skills will your team need. The social planning will have to be as detailed as the mission planning. What do you think?
The Biosphere 2 experiment ended in disaster for a lot reasons, one being that they couldn’t get along and they broke up into two groups. It ended early and wasn’t considered a success. The challenges in colonizing Mars are far greater!
Its sad to see so low view count for that much good effort and quality. I know how it feels, quite demotivating. I made far greater apps as well than some of the top ten but marketing and bullshit always wins over content and smarts in this stupid uneducated society.
You are so kind. Thank you for recognizing how much work we put into our videos! We are still a small channel, but we love what we do. We have to keep the faith that there are more people out there like us who really care about quality education! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. :) :)
This was a good idea and I would have thought it was cool when I was younger. I think you should take it farther though with detail. For instance instead of "We are on our way to Mars" talk about delta v, gravitational assists and how we actually figure out where to point the rocket. Then talk about the challenges of getting enough fuel in orbit to fuel the ship to mars etc. IE I think this would be even better if you kind of simulated in detail all of the challenges that we will face on our way to Mars.
It would be great if you can translate your videos to Arabic. I would love to show them to my siblings and share all your videos on my profile. Amaizing, continue the great work 😘
You don't really have to stop the atmosphere for leaking into space. It takes a such a long time compared to human life. If we somehow manage to import or generate all the nitrogen and oxygen that we need into Mars, we can keep doing that.
What would Earth look like at favorable opposition from Mars? Would you at least be able to see Earth as a disc, or a faint star like the other planets?
But wouldn't space colonies make more sense? That way we could live at normal gravity and have more control over our environment. We also wouldn't have to worry about landing on Mars because of the thinner atmosphere. Less friction to slow falling objects. Also, on Mars, we'd be at the bottom of a gravity well, making it harder to leave. I'm SURE I'm not the only one who sees this. Is there something I'm missing? *edit* Even if we terraformed the planet, it wouldn't solve either the gravity issue or the atmosphere issue. The only way that I know of to do that would be to somehow inject the core with a dense, viscous fluid. That would be an absurdly HUGE undertaking, and we don't have anything close to the technology needed. Also, the amount of resources needed to do such a thing would make it infeasible. Seriously, why do you people keep talking about Mars!?
If you watch many of the videos here on youtube that discuss the many very great hurdles that would have to be overcome it does seem like an impossibility. I wish Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos would spend their money on building massive new wind and solar plants here on Earth instead so that we can transition away from using fossil fuels much more quickly. Especially since it sure looks like we’re DOOMED if we don’t!
i saw that you responded the questions in english... and in spanish or... "argentino" no repondes mucho...me gustan tus explicaciones de astronomia. ojala hagas mas videos bien argentinos
Interesting question! Maybe it will be like when people first worked on the frontier. They got paid a lot more because not everyone was willing to go work so far from civilization.
She told me to subscribe. I did. I have not been disappointed. By the way, look at the USA patch on her uniform. She is ours and the rest of the world can suck it. (Bring it on!)
. . . Let's not! No magnetosphere=dead astronauts. Until we sequence in a decent gene repair to our astronauts d.n.a to correct serious rad damage during the trip, only suicides apply. Sane universe indeed.
You will surely get selected if you apply for Mars one way mission, take me along with you I'm done with everyone here on earth.
Astronomy? Thumbs up before even hit the play button!
Btw, this vid looks so professional!!! amazing! Thank you for your awesome content!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We had so much fun making this video. We put a lot of hopes and dreams into it! :)

Great video, very well produce and informative and the narrative is great, really enjoyed it! Thanks Socratica!
The soundtrack reminds me so much of Stargate SG-1.
i like this new format. kind of fun, still really informative.

Reminds me of an old fmv from a DOS game. It's excellent, keep up the good work.

How quickly would an atmosphere leak away?

Very nice
Thank you so much.
This video and this channel are perfect!!!!!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support, kind Socratica Friend! 💜🦉
When she said "spaceballs" did anyone think of the movie? LoL!
Thank You!!!!
Nice lecture

Não me canso de admirar o trabalho de vcs e a beleza da apresentadora/atriz. Anyway... Great video, as always. Keep the awesome job!
Hold it! I'll go to Mars with you. Wait, I'm putting on my suit. Don't take off without me!
What would Earth look like at favorable opposition from Mars? Would you at least be able to see Earth as a disc, or a faint star like the other planets?
Oh my my my!
Mark Watney disliked this video...he doesn't want to go back there XD
We loved that book and movie SO MUCH!! Wonderful to see sci-fi with so much real science behind it. We hope Andy Weir continues to write...
His book Artemis is really good, I hope it gets made into an equally good movie!

What about living in lava tubes on mars? Jedi 82 is right I think populating Mars wouldn't take long if you were 1 of the crew. lol

Are we there yet? A we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet...
No signs of engineering on Mars? We'll soon fix that! :-)
if I work 24/7 I gain 37 minutes every day on Mars.
However I paid less for the same amount of work for the same job on Earth ?
Interesting question! Maybe it will be like when people first worked on the frontier. They got paid a lot more because not everyone was willing to go work so far from civilization.
Hello
Venus could actually still be a viable option, if we stick to the upper atmosphere of the planet (60 km+).
No because what happened to Matt Damon in the (Martian) would happen to me..
Hello ,there's a human live in mars right now?
Not interested in trying to terraform or colonize Mars. Not enough gravity.
I always thought of introducing trees to mars hoping to introducing oxygen to the planet and use up the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
That's the dream!! Probably start with something like algae first, though. :D

Don't bother, there is a star fleet on its way to earth.....
throughout the video, I could not stop thinking of this clip🤣🤣
