I think you would like to see the e50m medium tank German it was just a concept vehicle I think but the blueprint design would be cool to incorporate with the tracks you could give it a little suspension to German tanks are known for having wide tracks

Just use a ice hockey skate as the shoe part, those support your ankles really well 🤔
Just remove the blade and bolt the shoe part to the robots and you'll have those awesome snow shoes that will do all the work for you 😁

I'm curious how these tracks would hold up in a desert sand environment. I know they're not meant for that, being designed for snow and all, but it would still be interesting.

Going with of the shelf gears is a really good choice.
Fyi, the best way I've found to make a transmission bullet proof is to add an overload clutch that slips before any of the gears break. Did it on my battle-bots and never had gear failures even with all the abuse I heaped on them. I usually just clamped the gear against a shoulder with disk-spring, but spring-loaded ball, or even a spring loaded clamp collar would work fine.
also called Slipper Clutch in RC cars. they slip at too much force
Just like hand drills do it to select the maximum torque when driving screws. Good call!
In regards to the 92 tooth gear which you were considering to be replaced with a steal version. Would it be possible to instead use an existing mass produced gear? If any exist that would require minimal modifications to the current design it may be well worth it to keep cost down a bit lower while still getting a massive strength increase.
check out those made for rc basher cars, they often use large spur gears for their main motor drivetrain, 1/5 scale bashers have plenty of good candidates for gears in both steel and nylon variety
@@teslacoil4335 Not sure what pitch those gears he was using were, but it seems like mod1.0 or larger teeth would solve the issue pretty well and keep the cost down ( nylon spur ).
Simply using larger teeth would work as well...I'm sure he's aware of this. The problem with that is size. I haven't really printed "exotic" filaments but they make carbon fiber reinforced filament. Might cause even more problems though as it's more abrasive..
@@mitchellroberts7954 carbon fiber filament isnt what its cracked up to be honestly, they make modified delrin filaments that are wonderfully strong tho
@@teslacoil4335 Wow I was unaware delrin is printable and it looks like a printer setup for abs or nylon should work great. It does contain formaldehyde but, just don't inhale.

@@nobodyofnaught2 most likely the victim's ID, had their backpack stolen. Thief kept the laptop/phone/camera in the backpack, chucked the books and ID and kept the cards and money in the wallet. Usual story when you find those sorts of things.

Already has something that's a bit of a basher, and it doesn't even have the suspension yet. Neat to see the potential with the prototypes.
It may be outside of the scope of this project, but adding a suspension to the road wheels would help hills and uneven terrain as well. I noticed in alot of the slomo shots not all of the road wheels were in contact with the track, so you weren't really getting the benefit of the tracks. A Christi style suspension would keep the body profile low and give you good travel

Super professional video
Back in the late 90's Tyco made a "Super Traxx" rc vehicle. It was good sized and worked well in most conditions, including snow. The tracks were rubber.
