Its hard to believe the pro lite has lost its crown! 5000b rp must be an engineering masterpiece. I can't wait to see more of this gun in action. Office desk looks great. It always helps to have items a potential customer can view and get some ideas about what you offer and what they may want. Thanks Gunman !
Yes!,it's great to learn with high quality equipment, less frustrating, and easier. What makes a great finisher like The Gun Man.I believe is making great mistakes and learning from them, and perfecting your skills.Thank you again Gun Man.For you people starting out, don't give in to frustration and lack of $$$. You will lean to make it look great.
Have been looking forward to this review glad the sata was all you hoped it would be. The office desk looks awesome. Our local paint supplier has started stocking DNA products I am going to have a go at some flakes and candy on the bonnet of my ute in the future so will be watching your vids on their products with interest. Cheers for all the great vids Gunman, keep em coming.
Nice review! Just a tip for common conversions: You can do them from a Google Search. Just enter something like 1.2bar=?psi and hit Enter and it will display the results in a box at the top of the search results screen! Pretty handy and it may save you lots of time in manually calculating those things. :-)
Hi Gunman-Just fyi incase you hadn't heard this yet: i too have a new 5000rp 1.3 and love it for clear now that i got it figured out. Sata is telling everyone that gun can be sprayed at 24 lbs and that just aint true. I was solvent poping all over the place at 2 bar ( even though the finish was brilliant albeit a lil thick). So when another tech guru from refinish network clued me into this gun needing more like 32-34 psi to behave right my clear application went to the next level and pop went away Just FYI. She needs more air capn.
I was a fan of the 3000 RP, with a 1.4 tip it was the first gun I got an absolutely flat gun finish with. Used to like the WSB set up for Basecoats. Think I'll skip the 4000 series and go straight to the 5000.
yeah,I don't like hvlp guns either,But an RP can spray anything and can achive different finishes only by playing with the pressure. They offer more flexibility then the hvlp
HI Gunman, question out of the video subject.(watch most of your videos...) What size and length of the air hose from compressor to the gun ( FLG5 to start with by your recommendations but might upgrade to gti pro in future) I should get 3/8'' 15 meters? Thanks in advance
Hi Gunny, Was wondering if you were still going to do a video on the 1.2? I’ve recently purchased the 1.3,and 1.4 on the recommendation of my supplier but am still feeling there is something more to be achieved from this gun. Thanks Brother!!! Please keep up the great work!!!
is there any way u can show how that gun sprays after 2 coats of clear. That guy from refinish network in Canada (Jimmo) sprayed with a 5000 and it looked ok not great.
@The Gunman I know is quite an old tread and the gun it self is old model. However looking at new for me clear gun devilbiss dv1 c1 1.2 and sata 5000b 1.2rp at the moment the sata is new one and the dv1 is 6 months second hand can get both at more or less same price. Starting new Job in two weeks and wanted to give my self a better chance. Which gun would you suggest to go for? Any input highly appreciated!
Nice videos dude. I was searching info at this Sata 5000 RP and found ur videos. Very good lookin paintings u have made. I guess u dont know how this satajet 5000 rp suits for waterbase cause u r using solvent bases there. Here in Finland we have to use those waterbases. I have Iwata ws400 for bases now but im thinking new gun cause ive been using that Iwata atleast 4years and cause its bit wornout i leave it to wet on wet primers and get new basegun. I paint at Spies-Hecker Hi-Tec waterbase colours and guys at paint shop are telling that this Sata 5000rp is nowdays the best gun to those colours... but i dont know if to believe or not them cause sometimes they just want to sell that produkt where they get best money to themselves. For Clears i have Pro Lite TE20 and i was thinkin if i buy that Sata 5000 and if it somereason doesnt suit for waterbases then i can maby switch Sata to cleargun and Devil to basegun. Yes i could buy new Iwata tho but... i have never been 100% happy with it specialy with those silvers which are still hard to spray even to that Hi-Tec 2-generation watersystem. Keep up the good work man!
Hi Gunman I purchased a sata 5000 B RP 1.2 tip and used your recommended settings (2 turns out) and found it VERRY slow to use. I am used to the gti pro lite 1.3 with TE20 and love it, very fast gun. What am I doing wrong?
Hi gunman glad too see you have bought a sata.these guns are the business,I am working in a well known british super car manufacturer in the custom paint department and use a 1.2 rp at 2 bar for our manufacturing clear and it is awesome faultless finish our own sata techy recommends the 1.2 over 1.3 too get a flatter finish,so if you fancy 1.2 give it a try it gets my thumbs up,by the way your airbrushing is awesome keep it up .
Mike Fullerton Thanks mate, I do wish I did get the 1.2, the 1.3 nearly smashes too much paint on. Do you know if you can get a 1.2 kit without having to buy a new gun because I haven't been able to find any just by them self. ps I'm an amateur airbrusher but have fun :-)
The Gunman Hi guman yes you can just get a 1.2 service kit that is all you need try searching on sata if you get stuck i will get order code .cheers mate and happy painting
i bought the sata 5000 after your videos about it saying it's the best clear gun, it really is an awesome gun, but i was wondering if you still think the same about it after trying other guns, especially the new pro lite with the t110 air cap. Basically my question is, wich gun don you think can get you the best finish? oleaving asside the price of the gun. i know this question might seem stupid to you, considering you are a busy guy and have other things to answer, but i'm the same as you, i judge a spray gun by how it's able to spray laquer, and i want to know your opinion. Thanks!
Can you or someone else give some advice on good settings for base and then for clear with a 5000B -RP? I was just getting into painting a couple years ago. I purchased a Satajet 5000 RP off of ebay and it was supposed to be 1.3 but when it arrived it was 1.4. At the time I didn't think it was that big of a deal but now I realize the 1.3 Sata puts on too much paint so I am just trying to understand how to utilize the 1.4 rather than having to replace the tip at a cost of over $300. Thanks to anyone who can help.
Hey looking to switch up to the next spray gun, i just have the fuji q5 now it works okay but need something for nicer finishes, this looks gold. I want an oil free compressor that would work with this gun any suggestions? This will be my first big compressor I have no clue how many gallons or HP etc.
Hi mate, I got an 5000B HVLP. Mate I’m a mobile tech and mostly do bumper corner repairs and occasional a door or 2. I’m about to paint my own ford GT 350. I’m struggling to adjust digital gauge on the gun to my compressor in the van. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks 😊
Hello Gunman first I want to apologize for my English! I'm French and it's sometimes difficult to understand everything in your vids. I've just subscribed to your channel because I think you have the best tutorials and reviews about spray painting on the web. You always realise an outstanding job and all your tips help me a lot in mine. The Sata guns are very popular in France, I could try the 5000 rp a few times and as you say, it is a killer gun! Will you use your Pro Lite again after that? Thanks a lot
david boo Thanks, yes I'm totally loving the SATA 5000 at the moment but the Pro lite is still an awesome spray gun and its far from its last days, I plan on doing a SATA vs DeVilbiss video soon.
Hey gunman another great vid! I really like the gun. One question is: what do you honestly think of that dna clear? Is it as good as the dupont clear you used on the hq ute? I was considering getting some for the vk to flow coat.. Thanks in advance mate, Josh
Ah ok, awesome! Does it dull off or sink back much? Also does it compare to standox crystal clear pro or even glasurit clears? I know it is cheaper then those two brands.
Looks like an amasing clear gun mate. How are you liking the DNA paints so far? I emailed the NZ distributor and asked about DNA clear over Glasurit base and they said they hadn't tested their clears over any other brand and It might react badly. Have you had a chance to try it over non DNA base?
ForcedFalcon I've used it over many different basecoats and works just fine, yes it's not recommended but works fine. It's all the same stuff really just a few minor differences.
cxcMix let the paint be for 15-30 min before baking. sometime the surface dries first and there is some solvents that comes trough the surface and make it dull... it can come from the base coat as well let the paint "breathe" before putting clear coat.
cxcMix probably cause u over reduced your clear. i reduce my clear 5% or none depending on the quality of clear..if u over reduce it will look very dull
Hey GM the reflections of the fluros are straight as anything...that is awesome of the gun, HOW many coats until it looked like that, did you say 6 on the vid with 15mins between? Cheers Pete
I just got this gun shot 2 times with it, my boss is mad at me because he says that I'm wasting material because of the overspray, I shot at the 28 psi that many people have said including sata on their website, he wants me to shoot in the 18s because of the over spray, any suggestions?
Move Closer to the panel. These guns need alot of air. U will make a mess lowering the air pressure. you might be able to come down a little depending on what you spray. Im assuming your talking about clearcoat. 1.2 is a better choice. The 1.3 is huge. IDK why they did that. Its much larger than that.
I couldn't ever see myself getting such a big tip for basecoat, 1.3 would be more than enough even in the hottest climates. Another great option is the DV1 HVLP 1.3
here is my view, i have satas, devilbiss, and iwatas, with the satas you have to buy two hvlp for basecoat and rp for clears, basecoates sprayed with the rp just dont look right unless you drop the pressure down below your comfort zone. with one devilbiss and three air caps they will do all, the flowcoat finish the gunman gets with the sata is great but flowcoating is responsible for this not the gun, iwatas once again 1 gun and a selection of kits will do all even though i have one gun for each separate task on all brands.i have three w400s 1.2,1.3,1.4 wb2 air cap wbx and a bellaria and two ws400 with the same set s, i have heard comments about the large fan on the ws400 and it wont work fully open, it wont with standard viscosity's there is a leeway for different viscosity paints and sealers also if the spray fan is light in the middle lower the pressure till the fan fills out its basic gun setting realy . as for the fit of the guns devilbiss is best iwata a close second but still the sata has issues the 2000 great, 3000 feels like holding a brick and the 4000/5000 have issues with the position of the fan control and your thumb keeps twitching at the setting and because of the high ratio adjustment control a small nudge makes a difference, so there is my view one thing to remember not all painters paint the same so there isnt a perfect gun, some of the best custom paint jobs i have seen in my 40 years as a painter have been done with guns like a binks 7 i personally painted a d type jaguar concourse for a prestigious car show with an azenda spray gun and had a second place, the last comment i will make is all these guns are developed to be used in a spray booth dont think they will perform as designed out in the garage or workshop the same, air flow and quality and temperature along with quality materials make the job
Hi Gunman, great vid as normal but now you have left me with e decision of what gun next ?. I m just updating my gun and was about to get a GTi pro lite digital for my new clear gun but don't know now. Is the 5000 a lot better in your opinion ?nyou advice will help. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work 😊.
Darren Heaver they are very similar and to be honest value for money pro lite still wins, versatility too as you can change air caps and fluid tips without having to buy a new gun.
@@TheGunmanChannel Wow...really. I have my sata 5000rp 1.3 and sata 5000 hvlp 1.4 for sale to get the Sagola 4600 xl 1.3 and iwata w 400 Bellaire 1.4 because of the review you gave. WOW
@@TheGunmanChannel I know is quite an old tread and the gun it self is old model.
I hawe the same gun but with the 1.2mm they recommended for PPG UHS clearcoats. the only thing that the HVLP is recommended for here is waterbase basecoat. personally i don't like that HVLP stuff... i spray waterbase with my iwata 1.4 base. =)
The Gunman something I was wondering and maybe a couple of other beginners are too, is there a time frame for flow coating? Do you have to do it within 24 or 48 hours for eg while the clear is still fresh or can you wait a few weeks then sand and flow coat and still get good results?
to be honest its probably even better to leave it for longer, you will still get mechanical adhesion through the sanding but have the advantage of fully cured paint so less chance of getting shrink back and losing gloss.
Jonathan Day I'd recommend the 1.3, this is the exact one I got, cheapest on ebay and genuine fast delivery too. www.ebay.com.au/itm/PAINT-SPRAY-GUN-SATA-Jet-5000-B-RP-1-3-DIGITAL-209833-FOR-PAINTING-BODY-CAR-/251859994728?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_101&hash=item3aa4068868
The Gunman cheers for that, I wanted to be able to spray HS clears and I like to paint fast thats why i was thinking the 1.4 RP, pete on diyautoschool likes the 1.4 setup he runs fluid knob out fully too which i though was odd as it mush be hammering it on altho hes spraying quite far away from the panel, do you think the 1.4 is overkill and will cause a bad euro orange peel look, where do on run the fluid knob on yours when spraying clear, thanks

adi2200us agreed and I find they don't even use any more paint in the right hands, well not for automotive use anyway.
Love my 5000brp use it for the marine trade. 2.5bar 20cm back she flows out lovley!!!

Sergei S yes thats what I use, make sure you have water traps and filters to stop any moisture in the air, it will cause big problems.

Hey gunman another great vid! I really like the gun. One question is: what do you honestly think of that dna clear?
Is it as good as the dupont clear you used on the hq ute? I was considering getting some for the vk to flow coat..
Thanks in advance mate,
Josh
Joshua Nolte Its great stuff man, just needs to be thinned to 15% whereas the dupont doesn't need any so DNA will go further.
Ah ok, awesome!
Does it dull off or sink back much? Also does it compare to standox crystal clear pro or even glasurit clears? I know it is cheaper then those two brands.
just as good from my experience, well Glasurit may be a tad better but its hard to beat perfection.
Thank you very much

The Gunman Thought that'd be the case but I just wanted some reassurance as I've seen clearcoat react really bad before lol. Thanks!
Any reason why after 45 min of baking a paint job. The clear loses the glossy look and has a look of over spray ?
cxcMix let the paint be for 15-30 min before baking. sometime the surface dries first and there is some solvents that comes trough the surface and make it dull... it can come from the base coat as well let the paint "breathe" before putting clear coat.

we have all the sata 5000 ones, but we got them for a while now, my boss isnt going to buy any new guns :(

Very impressive gun I bet you can not wate to use it on every thing that comes into your shop.
Hey gunman....Now since I found this video, which gun would you use now. The sagola 4600xl or the sata 5000rp ?
That's a tough one but I'd say the SATA RP 1.2 is better
@@TheGunmanChannel Wow...really. I have my sata 5000rp 1.3 and sata 5000 hvlp 1.4 for sale to get the Sagola 4600 xl 1.3 and iwata w 400 Bellaire 1.4 because of the review you gave. WOW
@@TheGunmanChannel I know is quite an old tread and the gun it self is old model.
I hawe the same gun but with the 1.2mm they recommended for PPG UHS clearcoats. the only thing that the HVLP is recommended for here is waterbase basecoat. personally i don't like that HVLP stuff... i spray waterbase with my iwata 1.4 base. =)
kim öhberg I don't like hvlp anymore either, too thick orange peel but yes not a big deal with basecoat.
How about the sgk600bv ? Do u still like it ? You said before that it sprays like a conventional ?and do you still recommend it for base and clear?
nice
What do you think of the sata 5000 HVLP
Hey gunman what is a flow coat? Cool desk always good to show of your skill
alw968 Flow coating is painting it then sanding the clear coat back and using more clear over it to give more depth and better gloss.
Good to know that's sure to help me and maybe a few others. Thanks for the reply and knowledge sharing, really appreciate it. Cheers
What grade of paper would you use before the flow coat, and is the clear mixed the same for the first flow coat
Does the sata 5000 puts out more overspray than the gti?
abel aguilar very similar but it smashes the clear on very heavy.
Does it waste more paint?
no
in the wrong hands yes
Hahaha thankss cant wait for you to paint some car with it
Hi great vids, im in new zealand and looking at a sata 5000 rp 1.4 could you recommend the ebay seller you bought from, cheers
The 1.3 is all you need man, I run HS clears without a problem at all 2.5-3.5 turns out with fluid depending on what I'm using and desired finish.
What is that place name
good video except its not a devilbess or sagola
