We still had the 2020 Raptor and this was one of the last offroad runs we took in it. Check out the video and make sure you give Jon and Dirt Days a follow:

Good video Helio. I also have to say as a Mexican and Raptor owner it's always somewhat scary driving a Raptor or just a nice truck down to that area. All Baja peninsula is safe for Raptor Runs since it's "relatively" free of cartel activity but venturing into Sonora and further south it's definitely a No go. There are ilegal stops/cartel stops asking for bribes/mordidas. They can even take your truck if they want to. So yes, Mexico is gorgeous and it's packed with super nice people but gotta be careful driving these trucks Cartel enjoys driving and having for free.
BTW I'm your Temecula neighbor. Will hit you up through Instagram for one of your runs.

It happens in Baja too. Just not as often south of Ensenada. Check the comments for some people’s experiences. Most don’t talk about it. Specially on social media because they don’t want to scare anyone from coming down. Many running tour businesses down there so it’s bad for business to show all the bad. But even down there it does happen. Checkpoints are all over and if you do something dumb like speeding in the cities or something illegal, you can expect a cop in any Mexico city will want his bribe to let you go.

The illegal check point you ran into is also controlled by one of the cartels, all that area is controlled by it and no random people would just decide to set up a check point.
