Informative review of the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe FH50150 carpet washer machine. Why do consumers like this machine? Is it right for your needs? We tested this out in a very dirty carpet area. See video, or visit carpetcleaningmachinesreviews.... for before and after pictures.
Who Its For
For homes with pets, homes with stained carpets. For general carpet cleaning, and stains/spots cleaning.
Lightweight
Many people really like how light the machine is. It weighs less than 19 lbs without water. Amongst Hoover's line of upright carpet cleaners, this one is the lightest.
Effective Brushing Technology
This Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe carpet cleaning machine features Hoover's patented SpinScrub brushing technology. The brushes spin in a counter-rotating manner to agitate and remove dirt and pet stains. Different users have used this machine on both shag/plush carpets and berber carpets, and they've gotten great cleaning results on both types of carpets.
Easy-to-use Water Tank System
There are 2 water tanks - one for filling in clean water, and one for collecting dirty water that gets suctioned out of the carpet.
Rinse/Wash Selector Switch
The machine has a rinse/wash selector switch. In wash mode, the machine cleans with detergent, and in rinse mode it cleans with just water. Using the rinse mode helps to remove detergent residual from your carpets. You don't want to leave detergent on the carpet threads because it makes you carpet go dirty quickly. And if you have pets, you get peace of mind that they won't be affected by detergent left on the carpet.
High Powered Brushing and Suctioning
This Hoover carpet cleaning machine has 10 amps of power for brushing and suctioning the dirty water out of the carpet. 10 amps is powerful. In comparison, most Bissell upright carpet machines have 6 amps of motor power. We've seen a lot of feedback from users who are really satisfied with how the suction power. For anyone interested, this cleaner uses Hoover's Dual V Suction Technology.
Regular Cleaning Nozzle Width
The cleaning path measures around 11 inches. This is a regular cleaning path. Hoover also makes widepath carpet cleaners with 6 SpinBrushes instead of 5. That means you get more cleaning done with each cleaning stroke. If you have to clean a wide area, that may be something to consider. Otherwise, for most homes, this regular size works great.
Impressive Attachments and Tools Package
The package also comes with a nice bag and accessories that allow you to clean upholstery and crevices. It's got a Carpet & Upholstery Tool, Powered Hand Tool, Crevice Tool, Stair Tool, and a Storage Bag to keep it all together. You can even clean your auto carpet upholstery and carpets if you can hook the machine up to a power source near the car. Amongst Hoover upright cleaner models to date, this one comes with the most tools.
Thanks for watching or reading this! I hope this overview was helpful to you. To summarize, the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe FH50150 is a well-designed regular home carpet cleaner that is light in weight, easy to use and it cleans really well. It's been on the market for more than 2 years now, and has collected a lot of great user feedback.

I just NOW used my BRAND NEW Hoover Power Spin Deluxe (FH50150) carpet cleaner for the very FIRST TIME after receiving it from Amazon yesterday! I was so eager to get started with cleaning my carpets, so I immediately began assembling the unit and getting everything filled and ready to go! I plugged my unit in and moved the machine to begin shampooing, BUT saw a football size water/solution leak under the area of the rotating bristles! I assumed it was "operator error" so I inspected and careful tried again, ONLY to continue to see the same amount of solution leaking once again. I knew I had to quickly get this water up, so I simply removed the bucket that housed the water and solution and left only the bucket that holds the dirty water, and just concentrated on sucking the leaked out water up and out and got it as dry as I could get it. I then went straight to the internet and googled this problem, ONLY to see that MANY, MANY, MANY other HOOVER POWER SPIN OWNER'S are plagued with this SAME leaking CONUNDRUM (different models throughout the years) YET Hoover has still not addressed this issue! I'd say it's no coincidence that WE are are still having this problem! It's because Hoover hasn't YET addressed the problem! WHY? Why shout WE have to deal with it? Why should we have to box it up and return it? OR, WHY should some of us have to figure out a way to solve the issue? What IF we gave this item as a wedding gift? How embarrassing THAT would be! But the #1 reason that Hoover should fix this is because WE are choosing to BUY it, so THEY should be supplying us with a product that works! P.E.R.I.O.D! GET WITH IT HOOVER! YOU DO KNOW THAT BISSEL SELLS AN ALMOST EXACT MODEL OF THE SPIN BRUSH!
Awesome demo !! Thank you !! 👏 I ordered mine on Amazon yesterday .. will be delivered Wednesday .. can't wait !! Thanks again !
Thanks for a very good review. I especially appreciated the PRO & CON advice. Our daughter recently purchased one of these and says it did a good job so we borrowed it but I wanted to know more before trying to use it next week and I've found your tips & review very helpful. Thanks very much.
This was by far the most informative review on this product. Thank you!
Thank you for your review... I'm going to find/purchase one today!!!
Excellent and thorough, thank you very much for the review!
Good job. I’m impressed on how you explain things, and taking your time with it. Thank you very much.
Your viewers might want to know that sooner or later the brush drive will stop working due to rusted bearings in the turbine drive. The good news is the parts are available and the unit comes apart with just a screwdriver. There have been many reports of this problem and Hoover has done nothing to correct it in the manufacturing process. i.e.-substitute ceramic bearings. I used mine 5 or 6 times before it's brushes stopped working. My ex has the same problem with hers, bought 3 months prior to mine. Not a big deal if you fix it yourself but a repairman would likely charge as much as the product costs, only to have it happen again down the line. Aside from that, I love it!
Count me in as one who has a Hoover that also rusted. This stopped the brushes from turning completely even though they have been cleaned out.
Steve Mc Im trying to decide whether to go with the Bissel big or this. Prob the Bissel, yet this seems so much more convenient.
Your comment peaked my interest so I looked for reviews on the Big Green Pro which I assume you meant. Seems to have known issues with leaking both clean and dirty water. I personally wouldn't lay down $400 for something like that. I can't recommend the Hoover because of the problems I know it to have. Given how little a steam cleaner is used, the warranty should be longer. Mine sat for months before I knew I had a problem. Look at the reviews (bad ones first) and don't count on a warranty repair as many times it will have expired prior to the issue showing itself.
No it doesn't leak. Plus it's made tougher.
Plus 5 year warranty on Big Green machine
Great overview and definitely helped me to make my decision...thanks!

hi can this machine be use to clean cars carpet and seats. interior detalling on cars etc? thank you...
What is the SpinScrub Powered Hand Tool used for? And do the brushes move on their own or is it manual?
Great review.
My orange tab keeps popping up well before he tank is full. It is a bit annoying. Any suggestions?
Do you have a manual on HOW TO USE it?
Can you use this on car seat?
Thank you for this review. it was very informative. I hope you have a great day!
Awesome review!
Are you from Austria?
Lots details, very helpful~
How easy is it to clean up pet hair? How easy to pull it apart to clean? How noisy? 6 yrs later is it still working?
I need information of that
I have a much older Hover cleaner that has been a beast! It has never broken and has always got the job done.
It does not have a water/soap switch but I never use soap in it anyway, I use rubbing alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide with warm water mixed in the hopper.
I never have had a problem doing this but I have very short polypropylene carpet (restaurant type carpet) glued directly to the floor, Peroxide and alcohol wont hurt it.
BTW: I have three German Shepherds, I almost never have a problem but when I do it's stupendous! Forgetting to unlock the doggie door is an error you want forget anytime soon! ✞ ☧
nice video, thanks
Although Hoover should have definitely used stainless steel parts, If you’re gonna spend that much time with a machine that you’ve invested in to keep your home nice it would be a good idea to perhaps maintain the machine after use so things don’t rust.
this was very helpful. thank you
thank you so much for this informative video. i am buying mine this weekend. VERY HELPFUL !!!
+Carolyn Buie did you buy this one? If so, are you satisfied with it?
Just got one at 50% brand new at Canadian tire.
thx
You say that this vacuum is great for pets and stains, but I'm looking to find out if that also means getting fur out of a low area rug. Those cleaning bristles look great for stains, but they also look great for trapping fur and NOT releasing said fur into the canister. I'd be worried that the fur would clog up the bristles, and require cleaning those by hand. That's the kind of thing I'm looking to avoid.
Good point! Have you found something better, as I have 4 furbabies & this can be (and is) an issue even with vacuums
Your best bet is to get a vacuum with a beater bar (that actually works) and vacuum the carpet as many times as creatures you have living in your home (industry standard figure) to get the dust and hair out and then use a wet cleaner to clean the stains out. Trying to get hair out of a carpet with a wet cleaner only makes the hair clump together. This is true with a truck mount steam cleaner as well as a small machine like this.
Doug B. That's why you vacuum the carpet before you use this machine. This is a carpet washer, not vacuum cleaner. There's a difference. You wouldn't rent a Rug Doctor to vacuum your room; you rent it to wash it.
Now take the bissell Big Green over the spots you clean and watch it work miracles. BG is also made tougher.
That is also $400... This model is only $120. Clear choice for me.
Can you put hot water in this machine? If so how hot are you able to go with that? Is it safe to use just under boiling temperature or would that damage the components? Have you tried using really hot water even slightly higher than hot tap water?Good video, thanks!
Ok thanks for responding, I will probably get this machine!
It only takes hot tap water. The owners manual states not to use water above temperature 140°F (60°C).
Ok, that's pretty hot 140F, Thanks.
Sorry to tell you but you could put near boiling water in any one of these machines and by the time it got through the system into the carpet it would be pee warm. Still, the warmer the better for cleaning.
Cleaned one time. The next time I tried to use it, it leaked water so bad that it is useless.
Can't possibly be user error. /s
hi,I don't why in the video don't put the part when you put water and rinse
Did you also just have a stroke?
Mine didn't come with a small screwdriver that I could find. I didn't have the right size phillips screwdriver, which meant going to the store and purchasing one. Then, this doesn't show how to, after stepping one tha peddle to lean it back to start cleaning, both the water going in and to the dirty water all comes together so there is no water going out. You skipped over all of that, and this site isn't current.
Didn't come with an instruction / user's manual, huh?
Mine starting leaking like crazy after only 1 year and 3 months . I will not buy this model until Hoover fix the problems.
Did she say come stains I have a lot of those on my bed sheets🤣🌭
Her carpet was VELY stained 🤣🤣😂😂
After spending $200.00 for this machine, I find out the brushes do not rotate !!!!!. Somebody please tell me how the " SPINSCRUB" that does NOT SCRUB enhances this worthless water squirter.
It "goes back" TOMORROW.
replace the carpet. . . disgusting penny pinchers.
WOW...YOU'RE SO EDGY!!!
@CALMBEATS What's wrong?? You mad 😔😔 You probably are the type to just throw away something that can be fixed with some hard work. Don't worry, a little hard work won't break you. I promise. Cheer up little butterfly 😍
Thank you, I appreciate the review and found it useful.
Great review. Thank you.
