Not a fan of aftermarket fenders on JLs. Nothing like OEM, personally speaking
You’re worried about the paint but you’re putting on those narrow fenders? You do realize the tires are gonna sling rocks up into that beautiful paint, right?
How will that pass Pennsylvania state inspection? Most of the tire is on the outside of the fender .
Am I the only guy who thinks all you need to do to a Jeep is a slight lift and some 31 to 33 inch aggressive tires to make it look perfect? I don't get the monster truck look.
For a 4 door JL with a lift, IMO, 37" is the minimum size to balance the tire size with the body and wheel well size. 31-32 look good on a 2dr YJ or TJ.
I thought in a past video you said you wouldn’t do this type of mod anymore? What changed your mind? Free fenders from Motobuilt lol?
This jeep is going to be worth a 30,000 in about a year. lol
Something about drilling holes in a six figure Jeep. Make sure you video everything! Maximize your return, I think most of us will watch all of the boring stuff. Excited to see this project come together.
lol I still cringe any time I drill into a tub!
JL body bolts suck. I have done sliders on a 4 and 2 door and what I found is that if you get the can of WD-40 with the flex straw you can get the straw in various holes and gaps in the body panels near the threads on all the body bolts, spray them before tying to remove them. I did two dry on my 392 then started looking for a way to lube them. This method worked like a charm, pre spray, loosen bolts until they start to bind, turn them back in, re spray/lube, repeat. My 2 door had one bolt that I don’t think would have come out in one piece without lube, and it still fought me for 45 minutes.
Those are definitely some of the best looking flares out there.

Do the inner fender liners in black, I went color matched once and brought them back to get redone because it looked off. Just my past experience but I’m sure people will like all the same color as fenders/body.

It’s easy when you get everything for free
That front body mount bolt is red loctite, not blue (unless they changed it). I installed Ace Engineering rock sliders on both my JT and my JLU, and both required a propane torch for a minute on each bolt, and even then, still needed a 2 foot breaker bar. Once I broke them loose, then I used my 18v impact. From what I saw both times, the front bolts are red loctite, and the middle and rear are blue.
Those 40's are amazing.....when you show the spare tire on the tailgate OMG!! Beast!

The one part of modding a vehicle that always scares me is drilling into the body. One mistake and it's not easily fixable. You're a lot braver than I am.
I think it’s mostly the fear factor as it’s really not that hard to do and do it right. Most people try to drill all the holes at once and that’s where they mess up but Matt showed that you drill 2 holes with nut serts and fit it then once those are set you can go back and mark the other holes as its not going to shift on you

Personally I like the stock fenders better just have to remove the inner plastic and high line lights.
Rust prep... Make sure to prep the bare metal and coat it in something to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Negative for me on the cutting and drilling. Why not just use a nut on the backside instead of rivnuts, where accessible .

There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) out for all Jeep JLs; its covered under warranty.
