For the book pick, I would have definitely skipped the Romantasy book, but as a book collector, that definitively a book I would want to keep. Great month for bookboxes !

I really loved the Surviving Sky, post apocalyptic plant dominated planet with with floating cities and plant magic, can’t wait for the sequel this year
I think the murder road redo would be when you either love or hate. It's definitely not my style.
That Fairy Loot box. I was floored by the endpapers. Also loved the items. I collect puzzles and it's so awesome a book box finally gave us a proper full size one!

Missed your vids Ness!! Welcome back and I'm so glad you're doing well!! That murder road cover redesign is amazing! never in a million years would I have picked up the original but now I'm intrigued. Also, that sci-fi books puzzle is to die for! love the Keffiyeh 😊
I liked the Evernight book customisations individually (cover art, end pages, art on hardback) but book boxes are often guilty of using multiple different artists and throwing completely different arts styles and colour schemes onto the same book and it doesn't look very cohesive. I wish they would just use one artist per book to avoid this complete mishmash of styles. I enjoyed the book and gave it 3.5 stars. It's not horror though, it's more like a mystery with supernatural elements.
Welcome back!! I was so pleased with both of the FL combo books designs this month (Adult +YA) so I'm excited to see what you think of the YA edition too. I am jealous of that Murder Road I love the classic comic art style. The edges being that bright pink was SUCH a perfect pick on Evernights part it complements the comic style so well.
I am so behind on my FL reads, I still haven't read A Dowry of Blood (even though I've owned it for 1.5 years gah). One of my big goals this year is to get through a large chunk of the books I own and haven't read though so hopefully soon. I am almost done with the One Dark Window duology so maybe I'll try Dowry after those. We'll see. Once again glad to have you back and also glad your bathroom reno went well!

Missed your videos! I loved Lore of the Wilds, it was a 4.5 star read for me. Not what I expected from romantasy but still a very good book

As much as I loved this month of books I was expecting so much due to March being such a big month for the boxes!! The Puzzle was such a cute surprise! The YA pick for Fairyloot was probably my fav this month as Afterblossom Art is just the best! Excited to see what they do with next months picks xx

I honestly do kinda regret cancelling my fairyloot subscription by now. Their recent books have been stunning, but they had such a low a while ago and with only 4 skips... Idk if I should replace my Illumicrate subscription with fairyloot, because I'm definitely keeping owlcrate. Their may box was one of the best I've had in a long time. The choice between IC and FL is so hard cause they've both really stepped it up recently!
All the books are gorgeous, I have the Romantasy sub aswell and curious to see in what direction it’ll evolve.

Yay :) I'm so glad you liked the Illumicrate box, I really liked it but it seems to have been disappointing for some people so I feel validated that someone else liked it (I also wasn't mad keen on the bookmark tin)
No I really liked it, I think the jigsaw was probably a high value item which is why the rest was much lower value, and it also took up so much space in the box. I'm happy with it, I had fun :)

I'm still on a wait list for Fairyloot's adult and the most recent Romantasy books as well as the Evernite books. I read Murder Road in March and enjoyed it. The story was so strange and mysterious. That is definitely a very cool special edition. I hope you enjoy the story. That romantasy book is really beautiful. I would keep it just because it's so nice, but because of that it would sell quick so if you wanted to sell it to take the money to pay for a future box you certainly could.
Where do you sell your book box books that you don't want? I have quite a few I'd like to sell, but not likely to get anything close to value if I try selling in my hometown (smalltown in Alberta, Canada). Thanks! You're my go to for book boxes now.
Did your Fairyloot box arrive way later than normal? My April box showed up just a couple of days ago. Kind of frustrating to be billed for the next months book when you didn't even receive the prior months 😆

Afterlight november 2023 box also had a romance bookcase 1000piece puzzle! So I think a fantasy one in the future is actually really probable! I love doing jigsaws while listening to an audiobook 😊

It’s funny but when I watch your unboxings it’s a good reminder to me of the books that came that month 😆 Cos I’ve prob yet to put them away or already put them away and forgot what ones they were 😂 the adult pick is gorgeous isn’t it.
I think the Evernight cards are colour schemes similar to the original covers. This months was such a good one, it’s giving Archie comic feels but also Supernatural (TV show) vibes.
The Romatasy pics are a little eh. I think it’s cos they are proper fantasy romance that we’re not used to getting in the other boxes, least that’s my opinion. Not high fantasy but more hardcore romance (not smutty)?
The jigsaw is by far the best item in that box. The book is gorgeous, looking forward to reading it.

Evernight is the sub I get most excited for. Their redesigns are untouchable! Defo keeping Murder Road, it’s art 😂 I did quite enjoy it too (maybe a 3.5?).

I’m only subscribed to the FL Romantasy box. The book is stunning, but the story is meh. I DNF’d it at 50% after trying to force myself to finish it. I ended up getting the audiobook and I like it so much more! I’ve never listened to an audiobook in my life, so that’s saying something. I’d give the book zero ⭐️s and the audiobook 2-3 ⭐️s. It wasn’t boring like The City of Starbust (that one was putting me to sleep), but there’s so many things wrong with this book and to top it off, it doesn’t really fit the “romantasy” theme. From what I understand. It’s sloooooooow burn and there’s one spicy scene. I also hate when the synopsis lies. I was sold on this book because of the “enchanted library.” What enchanted library. Books talked to her twice first by saying “astronomy” so she could find all the astronomy books in the library and the magical book that called her name. You don’t even spend much time in the library. You just know she’s working to rearrange the library for the fae.
This book could have been in the YA sub tbh! For now I plan to keep it because it’s so beautiful! I may end up selling it. But I’m sure the few people that actually enjoyed this book that like having nice books would appreciate anyone who resold this edition.
The Illumicrate Afterlight (or whatever it’s called) editions have just been wow! Their normal boxes have been iffy which is why I cancelled my sub. I’m going to give the romantasy sub about 6 months and if they don’t start doing books that are similar in spice to their advertisements I’m going to cancel. What FL may not realize is that in the IS we have several book boxes that do spicy subscriptions and quite a few of them do complete redesigns of the books. Over the past 6 months I was contemplating what spicy book box I wanted when FL announced that theirs would be opening up. I’ve loved their subscriptions in the past, but so far it’s completely missed the mark. I’m planning to read my Romantasy book pretty soon after receiving so that I have an idea of whether or not this sub is for me.

I don’t think many people were impressed with the Evocation book as Iv never seen so many copies of one sub book go up for sell in one go. There were soooo many people selling their copy on the selling sites
I thought the quality was bad. The shiny end pages felt very cheap to me.
These waitlists need to move along I'm on like every waitlist I can't find any subscription box that is open for new people
