- I used my Deeper Chirp+ 2 to sound out the Freeway Dam, one of my favourite local fishing spots. The Chirp+ 2 uses Chirp fish finder technology and is the flagship castable fish finder from the Deeper range of sonars.

I was starting to worry you would find my mother inlaw lol😂😂😂
Hahahaha OMG
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
😅😂 that's the best comment ever
This is pretty awesome. Thanks for the video and info.
Thanks so much for watching.
I expect after the last few days of rain we have had , that dam may be full up, lol. That's a nice bit of kit, that fish finder, thanks for the review Robbie. cheers buddy, take care and stay safe. 👍
Thanks so much for watching mate. I drove past this dam this morning and it is definitely overflowing. Haha
@@robbiefishing i make it part of my CZcams watching, I may not leave a comment, but I never miss a Robbie Fishing video, cheers buddy.
I picked up a Deeper Pro+ second hand a couple of months ago after watching one of your early videos. I had some fun learning how to use it at Mulwala at the Cod Classic. Hoping to use it with my kayak after some trout this week. They're good bits of kit!
Thanks mate, they are awesome that's for sure. I don't use mine a lot but it is handy when I want it.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing Robbie :)
Thanks so much for watching Robert.
What a great little fish finder, Robbie 👍🏼, it works really well, mate.
Thanks Wayne they actually are a really handy device. I don't use mine a lot, but I enjoy pulling it out for times like these.
Decent slope in there, fair few fish too by the looks of it. Nice 😁👍
Good job mate was very interesting
Thats kool mate, great gadget. Geez some fish hiding in the drop off in the first cast.
I drove past there a few months ago! I’ll probably stop there soon. All the best mate
Thanks mate. When you stop, good luck. All the best to you too. 🙏
Lovely video
Thank you.
Last time you fished that dam I thought why not use the deeper fish finder
Well done and thank you
Haha thanks Pete. Wise minds think alike. I wonder what that huge fish was under the sounder? My guess is a giant carp.
@@robbiefishing yep I reckon so and I reckon what showed up was concrete blocks left behind after the freeway build
@@peterhipwell4632 That very well could be right Pete. It was certainly a very square shape wasn't it.
Interesting Vid ,
Thanks Mate
Thanks for watching Vince. 👍👍
Love the freeway dam. :)
Thanks mate, so do I. I sat there for an hour and a half after filming this today and only had 1 small nibble. Haha
That’s a handy bit of kit mate I didn’t even know you could buy something like that cheers for the video mate pretty cool stuff
Thanks so much mate. I have reviewed a lot of these devices over the years, they're cool things to have. When fisheries started stocking Merriwa Park Lake in Wangaratta, I was able to tell them that it was 9 feet deep in the middle thanks to by Deeper Pro+
Yeah good stuff very handy to have got a few spots I would like to know more about cheers Robbie
I was starting to think you may have found a car in the dam hahahah
Well mate, it may very well have been a car.
That was interesting good one mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Cam..👍👍
Robbie
You will be proud off me hook in the finger above the nail on the index ! I was off to Jindy medical centres in Snowy mountains ! Caught a nice brown on the second cast and I thought flow is dirty on the river it's going to be a bumper session ! Trying to yank hooks out with pilers and I managed to get rear out only to find front Trible into my index ! Solid walk with a lurer in my finger to my car and abit off a drive to medical centre !!
Oh dear... That sounds pretty full on mate. It's certainly a horrible experience.
A little deeper now brother
Haha yep, I'm pretty certain it will be over flowing right now. LOL
Great video mate. Informative. I through I was an OLD CLOWN I have meet my twice Bro 😂 Thanks for sharing Bro 😊
Hahaha thanks bro.
I could play with that thing all day Robbie.
It's a lot of fun mate. I use it more to satisfy my curiosity than I ever do for fishing. Haha
I'd love to do this to all my spots but I cant afford one of those, still very cool to see. Good video Robbie.
Thanks buddy. 👍👍
Very interesting device.
Any idea of a retailer to go to?
Handy bit of gear mate.
That was interesting, you could clearly see it was man-made, but something was out there and its much deeper than expected from my view. When you had the fish on, plenty in there for sure. Nice job!!!
Thanks so much Larry. 👍👍
I guess the upside of it being an artificial waterway without many bits of tree and stuff in there, is that you could throw lures in there all day and not get busted off on something.
Speaking of deep water, don't get washed away in the rain headed your way
Thanks mate. Haha that's so true..
We have a minor flood forecast but nothing too seriously thankfully. We managed to dodge a bullet a little bit compared to other areas.
Another brilliant video, Robbie! Very interesting to learn how the dam was established naturally having used the land for surrounding roads. Having said that,I have a really silly question for you! How did the dam, which was once a big dry hole in the ground, end up with fish in it? Was it stocked? How do fish end up there? Sorry for my ignorance. Keep up the great work as always, Robbie. Your videos continue to make my day every day!
Thank you so much mate. I have had probably 5 or 6 people tell me that they stocked redfin in there. Haha
The carp would have swam in with the floods. They live in farm dams and move around during the floods.
Was looking at the Deepers the other day. I want to get one soon.
Been getting some good redfin lately. The fish are all fat and healthy and fit which is great to see.
Thanks Andrew. With all of this rain, hopefully there will be plenty of fat fish around for a while yet.
Take a look at my latest video to see the sort of fish I am getting. @@robbiefishing
Righto robbie youve convinced me to go back and have a flick. Ive tried blades a few times at the freeway and come up no good. If the reddies are there im pulling out the vintage lures i found at lake king rutherglen before the shire ruined it, reshaped it and made it a wading pool for mozzies and ducks. Was a good fishing lake for the kids for generations, reddies, carp, tench and yellas, would you believe even an eel was pulled out of there once upon a time........
The old brass numbers will get those fat reddies.
I hope.
Good luck mate. The freeway dam can be very hot and miss.
That's a shame about Lake King. I use to love catching yellowbelly in there before it was decommissioned. I absolutely hate seeing fisheries taken from us.
Hope tgat object in the dam isn't an impliment left behind. Interesting watching the Deeper in action.
Thanks mate. My guess is that it is just a little bit of pushed up dirt.
Interesting bit of kit..most types of those thingee me bobs are cheap novelties but that looks good👍🏻 is thingeemebob 1 word or multiple😅
Haha I think you spelt it correctly. LOL Deeper are European made and are very solid and robust. When I very first started working with them years ago the thing that jumped out at me most was the quality.
@06:41 Maybe it was something Humerus.... Ha ha.
looks like a lot of fun , can you tweek these to pick up metal objects I wonder
?
Thanks mate. I'm not sure, but I don't think so.
JOIN the Vanguard!
Holy shit carp city.
Hello Robbie,i was just wondering where you got your phone tripod / and how much was it?
And im very interested in that sounder you demonstrated and this video. Thank you for everything you do for us mate.
Thanks so much Mick. I bought it at Photos Supplies Camera House in Albury. From memory I think it was just under $50.
Easy spots are the best spots
You'd love some of my spots. 50 meter walk, grab a beer at the pub and watch the rods. Carp, redfin, yellowbelly and cod, right at the pub, restaurant or cafe :D
Absolutely.
I guessing this could help me know if there is fish in my dams?
I stocked them as fingerlings a couple years back
Had a baby and no time to throw a line on lately 😢😅
Hey mate, congratulations on your new arrival. The best thing that has ever happened to me by a mile is the gift of parenthood.
So the 5min25sec mark there is actually a massive school of fish or it’s not accurate?
Hi mate, many fish finders have fish icons. I usually turn them off because I don't think any of them can differentiate fish from structure properly. Not fish finders in this price range anyway.
It could well be a school of small redfin, but I couldn't tell you that with certainty.
Hay robbie that dam about 16 ft around 5 metre deep
Thanks mate, yep that sounds about right to me..
how would u get on if the line snaps
I would either lose it or have to go for a swim. LOL I use it with 50lb braid and a line clip.
Have tried the live scope finders Bro..?
Hey bro, nah way too technical for this old simpleton. LOL 😂😂
Or you could tape a transducer to a pole, and use a portable fishfinder.
Haha very true.
@robbiefishing You can't get right out, but you can scan the edges.
Are u in the flood watch up your way ?
Hey mate, we missed a lot of the rain. We have a minor to moderate flood forecast but nothing like the Goulburn or Campaspe rivers.
Poot eet DEEPAAAHH!
OK someone has to do it - 🎵🎶Chirp chirp, chirpy chirpy deep deep 🎵🎶
Haha You sound like the middle of the Beetles song "Blackbird". Do you know that one? Haha
@@robbiefishing Yes, but I'm more 'Middle of the road' 😎
@@captainfrank01 hahaha
Omg the humour is getting worse 😂😂😂
@@dougpetty6854 Don't worry Doug, I'm here all week ..... and next week, and the week after 😎
Hey Robbie what is the name of that fish finder
Click on the description, the title of the video
It's in the video title mate
Hi mate, it is a Deeper Chirp+ 2.
Hey Rob, have you heard of youtubers Advdntures with Purpose
Hi mate, no I haven't heard of them sorry.
Do you ever worry about loosing your fish finder Robbie
Hi mate, not really. I use it with 50lb braid and a line clip. I do worry about bashing it into a rock or tree or something though. LOL
@@robbiefishing thanks for replying Robbie thinking about getting one myself
"i caught nothing" you say Robbie, i know why its because you turned the fish off on the app earlier in the video 😂😂😂
You should have turned them back on before fishing 😅
I was going to ask in all seriousness how well do ypu think the fish part works, do you really think there is as many fish as it shows? In the spots ots showing?
Haha thanks mate. I think you are right.
I've never trusted fish icons or fish alarms on any fish finder.
No doubt the modern livescopes can see fish, but all the others, such as this see objects. I have no doubt that they see and show the fish, but I don't think they differentiate the fish from other structure in the water.
IMO your fishing time is best spent getting to know how to fish "your water" well. Once you know how to fish "your water" well you can then move on to expand your experience to other waters.
This device will help you to get to understand "your water".
Tight lines.
Spot on mate, I agree 100%. I often catch fish at Lake William Hovell when nobody else is, because it's my water. I call it my "Home Ground Advantage". Haha
Then I take my skills from there and use them elsewhere.
It’s a hyundai staria van 😂
Hahahaha 🤣🤣
Your videos are in fast forward
Are you sure you haven't bumped the setting that plays at 2x speed?
Apps are the worst. If you can't adequately describe your product on a website, then I'm not interested.
The Deeper app is actually a very good app. It is free and you can use the free version with the fish finder. The paid version has access to more bathymetric maps which I have no use for, therefore declined their kind offer to be a part of their affiliate program..
Recently set up a couple of fish tanks with oxygen and filtration. Caught a couple of dozen small yabbies. So I have put 10 holes bricks in the tank which all the yabbies hide in. They look like a housing complex. So I named it Downton YABBY 🦞 🤣🤣
Hahahahaha that is so funny. Downtown Yabby, I love it. 😅😂🤣
