My wife and I are married 50 years. She has dementia and is a nursing home. I still love her. She is still the one.
My wife is in the same situation and I feel the same way. I played this song for her yesterday and she happily sang along.
Wow. That's intense. I've had a couple older relatives get dementia really bad and my dad also. I watched a grandfather die of Alzheimer's which was even more intense. But then again I've had other relatives that live to be really old and they were always there and clear and present.
I guess you never know, but anyway my heart goes out to both of you for sure.
Bless you all.
I just lost my wife last year, but I can imagine this is just as painful.
Blessings to both of you. Even though you all struggles, you could never change how the heart behaves.
"Dance With Me" is another big song by Orleans.
Yes. I like that even better, but certainly love both.
I highly recommend this one too! Awesome song!
yeah if you like still the one, "dance with me" is a banger as well, just a bit different, more harmony vocals focussed.
Great harmonies on that one…
This was a HUUUUUUUGE feelgood hit. An anthem to love for sure.
Man, I miss the 70’s when music could be happy.
I just lost my wife last year and frankly this song makes me tear up faster than any other song. Your right, it's the perfect song for a successful long term relationship and also makes people (like me) realize what we are missing.
Same. My Liz was only 51. We had been married for 22 years. I'm not tearing up, I'm blubbering. She'll always be that one.
Sorry for your losses. Lost my wife and best friend of 44 years a year in a half ago. Great song . Thanks for sharing
I lost my wife of 42 years 15 years ago, and believe me she is still the one even though she is not with me now. Like you we dated, went our separate ways, but eventually we got back together after 4 years.
Orleans had another great hit - Dance With Me (1975).
Back in the late 70s ABC used this song in their ads for commercials
I think I knew the ABC commercial before I knew the actual song.
REMINDS me of SILLY LOVE SONGS BY Paul Mcartney And Wings 1976
so did the Australian Channel 9 wide world of sports program in the 80s.
One of the best Wedding DJs I've gotten to witness would go around the room to find the couple that had been married the longest (typically ended in the 50+ Years range) and would give them a solo dance to this song.
It's called the Anniversary dance, as a wedding DJ myself been doing that for years. Sometimes the couple picks the song - like if they know it's gonna be their grandparents, they'll have me play their wedding song; but if they ask me to choose the song Orleans is DEF my go to!
My wife and I were married in 1970 and this has always been "our song". Thanks for your reaction.
That's awesome!
Starting with our tenth, I play this every anniversary morning to wake up the Mrs.. After 35 years of marriage, tomorrow morning will be the 25th time she will wake up with Orleans.
Your husband is very BLESSED to have you as his wife, Britt! I'm jealous of him, in a good way!!!!!!! You are one of a kind!
Britt is so easy on the eyes. 😍
Another hit by them was "Dance With Me" check it out
The co-founder of Orleans, John Hall, wrote this song with his then wife. He later was elected to the legislature of Ulster County, New York, in 1989 and the Saugerties, New York Board of Education in 1991, and he was elected as the U.S. representative for my congressional district in 2006, serving two terms. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times; really nice guy. While he is a singer, he's primarily known for his guitar playing -- that's not him singing lead on this song. He resumed his music career and has continued to play with Orleans periodically.
I remember the song he put out for "No Nukes Concert",[Power]. Every once in a while, I'll pick it out & play it. Such a great song.
@@timotc50 John put that concert together, along with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, and Graham Nash.
My parents danced to this song at their 50th wedding anniversary!
Love the 70s too. I know you would love" Smoke from a distant fire" by Sanford Townsend Band. On the Midnight Special. Trust me Britt
I saw Orleans in concert with Fleetwood Mac, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Dave Mason, it was the greatest concert I'd ever been to.
I saw this tour too, minus Dave Mason, in Camden New Jersey, in the 90's!
I think Stevie Nicks wasn't touring with Fleetwood Mac at the time.
@ ONE TIME ? WOW
Great song!! Fun to listen to, great harmonies, and everyone can relate to the words!
Similar, but kind of different, excellent harmony and great banjo. “Sweet City Women” by the Stampeders. I think you’d like it.
A great CDN band.
I love your review on this song... Back in the mid 70s, Orleans was one of those A. M. Radio sensations you would hear on the car radio all the time. Their music was easy to listen to and follow, their lyrics were, accurate and right on the money... I never changed the station when an Orleans song came on, it was always a feel good song. My absolute favorite Orleans song is: " Dance With Me." That song was popular when I got my first car, back in Highschool, and always takes me back to those magical times, I sometimes wish I could re-live again.
DANCE WITH ME is also beautiful.
Changes your day. Makes it powerful.
Just finished the reaction. Just really fun because I remember thinking this was a little too pop for me when I was in high school but all my friends loved it that we're in a certain social group, and because I really like to them I ended up really liking this song. Now I'm looking back upon it from all these decades later more as a musician and a songwriter and I'm really enjoying it, and then of course you reacting to it is always just such a treat.
At the time of this MUST HEAR classic's release,, It was used for MANY couples wedding song (Including my sister's) Chicago "Colour My World" ❤
Yes! Please do “Dance with me”, it’s my most favorite song of theirs. Thanks for reacting to them🙏🏼🌹💕
This song was written by the wife of one of the band members while doing her laundry. She wrote it because a friend asked her to write a happy love song as she was going through a divorce.
She didn't do a good job. I would think this is the last song you want to hear if you just got dumped
My husband and I just had our 20th wedding anniversary last Sunday. We’ve been together for 23 years. We dated in high school when we were both 16. But now we team drive semi trucks for months on end, 24/7 together. We have a rare love that we wouldn’t trade for ANYTHING!!!!
Another great 70’s tune….😊
YYYYEEEEEPPPPPPPPEEEEERRRRZZZZZ
Orleans were a pop rock band & had their biggest hits in the 70's with "Still The One", "Dance With Me", "Love Takes Time", "Let There Be Music" & "Reach".
"Let There Be Music" is definitely a hidden gem; it always reminded me of early Doobie Brothers bangers.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! I was in elementary school when it came out! But, brings a smile to my face every time I hear it! Great choice!
Same -maybe 3rd grade …❤
I can never resist singing that bassline!! Soulful. I've only heard the band pronounced Or•LEEnz.
Headphones are good, but a step up (the way these tracks were meant to be played!) would be to install a 9 speaker surround sound system. Of course your loving family & indifferent neighbors might hold a tiny grudge... LOL.
Seriously, go to an old-school stereo shop and ask to hear a few through their setup. Or maybe you have an aunt or uncle with a working, quality system??
LET YOUR LOVE FLOW by The Bellamy Brothers will light you up with some magic.
Great song, incredible harmony. Catchy riffs, fun and boppy!
30 years and she's still the one.
AHHhhhh... firstly, weren't the 1970's SPECIAL!!!! Orleans was TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL!!!! LOL!!!! Check out their catalog of songs & hits... I'm quite certain you won't regret it, Britt!!!! Your channel is my FAVORITE CHANNEL on CZcams!!!! No one comes CLOSE!!!! SO... THANK YOU SOOOOO VERY MUCH for doing YOUR THING!!!! Remember, we ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE ♥!!!! MIC DROP 🎤.
Orleans' other big hit was "Dance with Me" and has a similar theme.
One of my favorite groups from the 70s.❤ check out "Dance with Me " another good song by them. Most of the young guys in the 70s had thick, long hair.😀
This was the epitome of what I loved about 70s music! ❤ And the perfect growing relationship love anthem.
Dance With Me was my favorite song when it came out, always reminds me of my Dad. 🙏🏼
Fabulous band and a great song. Glad you got to hear this!!😊
Aww man!!! Orleans!!!! What a great group! Dance with Me is one of the most romantic songs❤😊
This is a great song! I also recommend Love Takes Time.
The lead singer's vocals are crazy good for sure!
Met my wife in 77 this was still a big song and she more than ever is still the one after 46 years.
This is one of those songs that just transcends time. The lyrics and that groove.., seriously come on.
I just discovered your reaction video and you are a Jewel! 💎 Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! ❤
Thanks Brit - Love your hair and reactions. I have loved your videos now for a long time. Thnaks again for being so enjoyable to watch. Makes me smile.
Thank you so much!!
Saw Orleans in Toronto (mid 70's) opening for Bonnie Raitt. An incredible evening!
Lol, I was certainly one of those people early on saying that I love your reactions but you've got to get headphones and just up your audio quality. And you did! ❤❤❤
Had my parents 50th wedding anniversary party/vow-renewal a few years back and this song was on the CD that was a favor for all the guests. It’s a beautifully sentimental but fun song.
I want to be 6 years old when my older brother put this record on for the first time.
in my 53 years, i have seen many live concerts. this lead singer live vocals simply blew me a way!!
You and your husband are blessed to have found each other and be together. I wish for the both of you a long and happy lifetime together filled with joy and love.
Johanna Hall (guitarist and singer's wife) wrote these amazing lyrics on an envelope while folding clothes. "Dance With Me" and "Let There Be Music" two of their most popular songs.
I paid off the DJ at my wedding, so when my wife and I got up to do our dance, I changed the song.
Instead of whatever she wanted, I had him play “I like my Women a little on the trashy side”
My friends and family knew me so they weren’t surprised, but her ppl were losing their minds. 😀.
Every time I have traveled somewhere for vacation, and as much as I enjoy wherever we go, it always reminds me how much I love my home. And I always look forward to getting back to it. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder. And not just for the people we love.
The Bass Players Community to which I am a member, (since 1977), call this style of toe tapping bass playing as "Toodling" This song toodles from start to finish. Fantastic reaction young lady to a terrific song. RNB
next reaction to orleans should be ''dance with me'' live on ''midnight special''
So glad you are enjoying Orleans Brit. They played at my college boyfriend’s Spring fest(1983) & they were awesome! You should also listen to Dance with Me by Orleans. ❤😎👏🏻
RIP to lead singer Larry Hoppen who passed away in 2012. The band is not the same without you!
My wife and I, now married 12 years, saw the Top 40 Soft Pop concert which was very surprisingly beautiful for the ears. Here in Michigan, in 2022, Air Supply did a wonderful show at Soaring Eagle casino in Midland. It is a fantastic small auditorium arena which only seats 2200 people. The acoustics were terrific. Air Supply did 17 songs and the guys still sounded like they did in the 70's and 80's. Their opening group - Orleans. When this song began, which was their finale, everyone was on their feet clapping, singing and dancing. Most joyous concert song I have ever had the pleasure to listen to.
When I was leaning to play the drums, this is one of the songs I use to play to.
My wife and I just celebrated our 17th Wedding anniversary, and I dedicated this to her. She's had several strokes, so we couldn't dance together, really, but I carried her around on my back to the beat and we had a great time! ❤
P.S.
If you're from New Orleans, you pronounce it Naw'lins! 🦐
So many hear the song,, even dance to or sing along without investing their soul into the reproduction. Brit, I don't come back to hear what you think of the artists, I come back to see how your soul reacts having heard the song.
If you listen to Thriller on headphones, the footsteps at the beginning start in one ear, go behind your head and to the other ear.
I love to watch you react to the music from my teen years, your so much fun.
This is so awesome! Love this song so very much!! Love your reaction! ♥
The perfect pop song. It just doesn't get any better than that.
Led Zeppelin a Whole Lotta of Love - is pure delight in the headphones.
I’d forgotten this song. Thank you for reminding me. ✌🏼❤️🎶
For our 40th, my husband secretly created a CD of "love" songs, and he titled -Expressions of Love. This was the last song on that CD. That was in 2023. For our 20th he had created a CD of more traditional romantic songs from various solo artists/groups - like The Association, Four Seasons, Hamilton Joe Frank Reynolds, The Moody Blues, Chicago, and others - about 20 songs altogether. Fantastic song and great harmonies as usual with Orleans. give a listen to "Dance with Me".
Always loved this song. How can you not?
Sounds like my mom and dad. Together for 67 and held the love till the day they passed.
Yeah, that's a definition of a Banger!
this was my work out song because of the beat. when I was a tween. my brothers mocked me, but after listening to it for several years in a row they learned it. and sang it for a tallent contest in the early 80's. and when one of my brother's married they all sang it to his wife. like barbershop quartet style. thanks for the great memories.
Me and my wife started dating when I was fifteen. I’m 56 now and we are still together. If we are playing our playlist and this in pops up I just grab her and dance
That's love baby he love her❤❤😊
Gotta hear Dance with Me! Love it 😊
This song was designed in a lab for Britt to enjoy! Fun song. I feel like it was played at every wedding and anniversary for like 20 years. They've got a song called "Let There be Music" that's interesting, but "Dance With Me" was a bigger hit. Orelans always sounded like "Schoolhouse Rock" to me - very clean. But I've grown to appreciate it more as I've gotten wiser.
John Hall Band - Crazy (Keep On Fallin' in Love). John Hall was the lead guitarist in Orleans. You'll love the harmonies and the bridge in this song.
Want to add a contender for the best wedding song, oddly, it's titled "Wedding Song" (There is Love). Performed by Paul Stookey
. He was a member of 'Peter, Paul & Mary' one of greats of the Folk Music Era. He wrote it for his band-mate Peter Yarrow's wedding.
“Love takes time” ,listen to it
Another wonderful longtime love song is Kenny Rogers' Through the Years. I know you love Kenny and that song will melt you.
Try "Dance With Me" by them. You'll love it.
You're Still The One, Love Takes Time, and Dance With Me, covers their three hits. And those three qualify them as a great band!
You HAVE to check out Dance With Me by Orleans. It is a true vibe!
You'd also love Pablo Cruise as well. They do that fun bouncy music from the 70s that you'd love
That's why there's a saying from the first century, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." :-D
I really overlooked them at the fleamarket (like US garage sales), but immediately recognized the cover - mandatory clapping.
This song was everywhere. One of the major TV networks (I think it was ABC) used it for their promo commercials for a whole year. Probably 1977, or '78.
This whole album was great. I used to put on the headphones and crank the volume up. It sounds surprisingly good at metal volumes. That's true of the entire album.
"Dance With Me" on the Midnight Special and "Love Takes Time".
A 70's vibe i think you'll love is Fooled Around & Fell In Love by Elvin Bishop.
When I was a kid, ABC television used this as a theme song when they were promoting the upcoming seasons tv shows. They changed the words a little and had the chorus as "ABC is still the one".
Still one of the happiest most upbeat relationship songs ever.
Song reminds me of my teen years! Great lyrics & yes my husband drives me nuts but we've been together 32 years next month ❤
Next Orleans song,Dance With Me
Dance with me is another good one they did.
Hi Britt. Another group and song suggestion: Quaterflash- listen to their songs- Harden My Heart, Right Kind of Love and Night Shift. Rindy is the lead singer and she plays a mean sax.
Our 4 children made a video for my husband and me for our 30th wedding anniversary and this song is on it. We just celebrated 55 years of marriage and he's still the one. Another great song on the video is "Through the Years" by Kenny Rogers. If you aren't familiar with that song, you may want to check it out. Love your reactions.
Beyond Awesome 🔥
We had the best of music, hair, and clothes. So Fine

Music peaked in 1976.
According to Orleans bass player Lance Hoppen, Johanna Hall wrote the lyrics for "Still the One" after a friend asked her why no one had written a song about staying together instead of breaking up. Hall wrote the lyrics on an envelope and gave it to John Hall, who then composed the music in about 15 minutes. Hall says she came up with the idea while doing laundry, realizing that there weren't many songs about long-term relationships
