I recently bought a reborn, and I lucked out because the price was fair. Meanwhile, I was seeing boo boo babies that cost more than the perfectly painted doll I just purchased. I'm seeing vinyl prices exceeding full bodied silicone prices! It's absurd. I lucked out big time and I'm thankful that the artist I bought from lists fair prices. I'm so glad you all spoke up about what happened with the doll show. I'd never ever attend an event put on by people who discriminate. Anyone calling this "drama" or are being defensive about going; if it's only "drama" you wouldn't be making excuses or acting defensive. These people KNOW that going is not the right thing to do. And they will at some point be targeted themselves and mark my words; they will expect support from the people they did not support themselves.

Huge congrats Marilyn ! Years ago set a price limit for me concerning dolls. I will NOT pay the current prices for an authentic reborn & it's not a matter of a budget concerning that limit. The prices are outrageous & I've seen no real indication that prices of materials have increased to justify the price hikes. It's no wonder their sales have dropped significantly. So I guess it's a good thing I'm perfectly happy with replica dolls these days. 🥰

CocoCarmella is just gorgeous, all dolled up! I agree with you on everything you say. There has been a slight raise in vinyl kits, but the most raise has been in rooting materials and postage. A lot of material suppliers have changed their shipping policies, not all. One now needs to plan ahead in buying items. But that doesn't justify the prices some new artists are charging for vinyl. Some are charging prices that partial silicone babies are going for, and I know the prices the materials are going for. Now when you get into the 26-32" dolls I can understand that they cost more. If you are a professional or prototype artist I can understand the prices some charge, as the quality is there. It may be out of my range but I still appreciate the talent and hours the artist has put into these dolls. Others not so much. Dakota is just so sweet in her Shirley Temple style dress, but her new outfit is so cute.

I’ve only been in the hobby almost 2 years. Even in that time they’ve gone up. personally I enjoy my cheaper dolls better. I don’t have to worry about messing them up.
