  • Vietnam Zippo's are always tricky because there are so many out there that are fake.
    I am not a Vietnam Zippo expert, and stay away from Vietnam Zippos, but when you come across one in the wild, its hard to turn down.
    Thank you to the men and women who served in Vietnam, may your legacy, memory and story be carried on through a tiny little lighter.

    ❤Hi Jon, another interesting video. As you rightly say its a minefield trying to find a genuine Vietnam Zippo if thats what you need in your collection. I would say if in doubt ask one of the experienced guys on the Zippo sites who will give you a no holds bar opinion. No point in spending a lot of money to be told afterwards its a compleyte fake, or a genuine Zippo with fake engraving. I am the first to admit my knowledge of this theme of Zippo is basically nil. If its brass its a fake is as good as it gets for me!! I certainly hope you have got a winner there!! Keep them coming !!

      Absolutely, they are hard to pick out sometimes!
      Rule of thumb is no touchy touchy unless you know what you’re talking about.

      I wish I had an opportunity to find more fakes, just to have, I would gladly pay $10-$20 for a fake lol

    Great video. I have three real Vietnam Zippos, one being a custom Sterling silver made in Thailand. Also have one fake one that I just had to have for my collection when I saw it lol. What does the insert look like in the one you think may be fake? My fake one has a hand engraved insert.

    • @JRO_Lights
      @JRO_Lights  Před rokem +2

      Forgot to mention that.
      It was not the original insert, 2003.
      (Which is also an indicator)
      Oooo ima have to get you to send me pics of those.

    I'm currently living in Vietnam, do you think it would be worth my time and money to hunt some real ones down to sell later?

    • @JRO_Lights
      @JRO_Lights  Před rokem +1

      Absolutely, if you know what you’re looking for.
      I’m sure there’s a lot fakes to sort through buying them straight out of Vietnam. I normally don’t even touch Vietnam Zippos unless they are cheap or I can authenticate it without any doubts

    The bottom stamp on the fake "Vietnam Zippo" looks pretty spot-on to me, but I agree that engraving is fake, done afterwards.

    I have little doubt that it's a genuine Zippo case based on the video without actually holding it my own hands. The markings on it though I consider staged unless there's concrete documentation to prove otherwise.

      Yeah I assume it’s fake, but as far as the case goes, it is a better fake than some out there.

    I recently bought this lighter my money is on it being 100000% legit Vietnam lighter, it’s not a zippo but a Prince Rocky. The special thing about this lighter and the sole reason I bought it it’s it’s got my Dads squadron logo/name from when he was in Vietnam on one side (VA-145) and “Spads” and a plane on the other side
