I pay for my own insurance too. I use covered California since I’m in that state but usually what I do is update my income throughout the year as it changes so that when taxes come it’s not so much I have to pay back. Maybe that’s something u can look into.
They said you're supposed to do that but if they don't penalize me for it I think I'll just save while I can (so I can gain interest on the savings) then pay a lump sum come tax time 😬

Reach out to your new insurance company. They may refund the premium for May if they understand that you had other coverage. I can tell you they would not have paid any claims if the other insurance was in place. There may be other reasons for not refunding the money, but it is absolutely worth asking about!

Next time call Geico! I have been flipping between the two companies and Geico was going to be like $724 for the 6 months to renew and Progressive was $629 for the 6 paying up front. I have 500 deductibles. They are scamming you. You could still call now and get a quote and switch. They will refund you.
I switched from Geico last year because they quoted me over $850 😩
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila Get a new quote from them! I swear it’s just when you are already with them lately they keep trying to get as much as they can. They did that to me a year or two ago at this point after being with them for a while.
