    Sound designer chiming in here. If I still have a job in 10 years I will be absolutely surprised. AI is already being used for voice over. I use AI almost every day in sound design. I don't think we'll get completely replaced soon, but it may happen. I think there will always be a cottage industry for human produced work, but corporate has already started and will absolutely keep going forward with using more and more AI.
    Outside of AI, corpos are already cheaping out. A few years ago there were budgets for foley, music, sfx, voice over, ADR, mixing, mastering, and sound design, with each of these tasks providing multiple jobs. Even before AI, producers started skimping on foley, using canned music and SFX from libraries, and hiring the cheapest VO artists possible.
    I want to be wrong because I love what I do. I feel like a kid at a playground every day making new sounds and helping bring director's visions to life through sound. I think we're still many years away from completely replacing everyone in creative fields, if ever. But jobs are already going away as departments get smaller and smaller, and this is happening across every creative field.

    I film hotel and resorts. Despite them having perfect photo realistic CGI of the whole hotel they still get us in to shoot it. I feel the same with AI for most situations. People like to see and know something is real, regardless of whether it actually makes a difference.

      It what happens when they don’t know what’s real/fake. The renderings look to perfect so people want less perfect shots to let them know it’s real. At some point AI will be able to do the imperfections as well.

    Although i agree there is definitely a shift happening and if we dont adapt youre gonna be a dino. But I think we are going to be hitting a ceiling with this gen tech and people will want authenticity more and more. Vinyl is coming back, film is getting popular. In the end i think genuine human connection is going to get the premium $$

    I'm deveoping an automated video editor for short-form content(not released yet).
    Here is an insight - AI can already edit videos quite good.
    There are some limitations, which I can foresee being solved in the next 1-3 years with bigger and better AI models(like GPT5 or Claude 4).
    I'm not getting into details here, but AI is clearly going to automate A LOT of the content creation and movie creation process, and everything inbetween that(sound design, effects etc.).
    Humans probably will be the "directors" to AI video generators, giving input on what to create and how.

    in the past paintings where like photography, people got painted just to have a capture of them, after photography started that kind of paintings disappeared, but the painters didn't got replaced, jut that kind of paintings, the same when phones got good cameras, before the good phone cameras we had to hire photographers for everything, now we just hire photographers for the really especial occasions.
    so filmmakers will not disappear, but having to hire a production team just for a simple ad, that will disappear.

      I completely agree with you in that things will change. Sadly, commercials and industrials are the thing that keep production crews fed in between films. I do 3-4 feature films a year, with a few commercials filling in the gap between films. Losing commercials will devastate the working actor pool since commercials are what keeps them going in between films.

    13:07 a good point on sound design/mixing/refining - we used adobe AI to recover audio where the sound was muffled because the person in charge of sound in the field decided it was better to hide the lav in the collar. Nope. It was beyond what our sound engineer could do to recover it. AI in adobe saved it. It sounds like it should’ve. He still EQd it. So it does cause me to pause where job security is concerned

    I Have no idea why creators are in denial of whats coming. Tyler Perry postponed a whole studio build due to Sora. Here we have a company right in front of us using AI for a full commercial. Film crew, Set design, Sound design, Actors & VFX (plus more) were all jobs that weren't needed for this, and AI will only get better from here. I'm not trying to say it's all doom & gloom, but being too nonchallant thinking it's only a tool is a naive way of looking at it.

    • @cjenkins79
      @cjenkins79 Před 2 měsíci

      Agreed. Brandon talks about authenticity and references film but yet nobody is shooting on film anymore except people who are already rich like Peter McKinnon.
      Photographers/Videopgraphers as we know them are toast.
      You can imagine for weddings you simply put up a couple 360 cams to catch the action and then AI spits out all the photos/ videos tailored to the style that the couple wants. Even further if they don’t like the photos/videos the AI can spit out countless version until the get exactly what they want.

    • @rosshoyt2030
      @rosshoyt2030 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@cjenkins79but wedding photographers dont just sit stationary taking in the action. They're a human involved in the event. They find the perfect place to take photos from. Choose the right lenses and exposure. Your idea doesn't even come close to replacing what a professional photographer does

    • @cjenkins79
      @cjenkins79 Před 2 měsíci

      @@rosshoyt2030 AI will eventually be able to do the same. If AI recreates a similar images that are indistinguishable from real photos most people aren’t going to care.
      Imagine being able to look like a model in every one of you wedding pictures perfectly framed from angles that aren’t really possible because a photographer cant be in that position. And at the same time everything in the photo is accurate as you remember because everyone looks the same, has the same clothes etc.
      The cameras and mics are there just to capture what happens and what is said and then the photos and videos are recreated in AI to always have the best angles, lighting, etc. Every picture perfectly focuses, framed and exposed with whatever facial expressions the client wants.

    • @czarcoma
      @czarcoma Před 2 měsíci

      @@cjenkins79that's the point. Indistinguishable or not, why would a couple pay for the memories of something that didn't actually happen?

    • @cjenkins79
      @cjenkins79 Před 2 měsíci

      @@czarcoma ??? But the wedding did happen, the pictures would be from their wedding, in the same place wearing the same clothes. Again the 360 cameras/mics would capture all the action as it happens. The AI would just be able generate the picture from any angle, any lighting, etc.
      Your argument is like saying why would people put filters in their photos. They want the photos to reflect what they want to show not necessarily what actually happened perfectly.
      Why photoshop things out of pictures. Why photoshop skin blemishes. Why make the entire wedding party wait for hours while they take lame pictures over and over. Why do the lame poses where they groomsmen toss the groom into the air over and over for that one perfect shot.

    AI will not take over jobs that humans actually want to do if we dont let it. I dont think a majority of population would vote for AI in creative jobs. It needs to be regulated, the only incitament is for big companies to save money and spit out shitty content without soul.
