    Very helpful on routing as the way you have it setup is pretty close to what I want to do with ProTools. Although I do like to use the pads and sequencer on my small Maschine control surface. Thanks for making this video!

    Cheers @Randall, new to Maschine so this is helpful.
    Btw, you can mute the individual midi tracks in Maschine s/w by clicking on the number to the left of the track in the lower sequencer window.

    You don’t have to delete the pattern info to playback. You just move your machine to an empty scene.

    Hello Randall, thanks for posting this video. I've been struggling with this for about 10 hours now and finally stumbled on your video and I think this is finally on the right track. Here's my question, what if I only have 1 group and 1 scene with drums, sounds and everything mixed in? When I try to change from midi to channels it automatically does it for all of my sounds. How do i get around that? Do I need to create multiple groups and scenes then follow your steps?

      Cameron, I apologize for the tardy reply. I had to sit down and look at this closely to offer an answer (and I kept forgetting to circle back on it). So, yes, if I understand your question correctly, you would need to create multiple groups to assign the MIDI to [Channels] or [Notes] within a single Group (at least I could not find a way).
      This is probably one of the tricker concepts of Maschine workings. Any Sound Group really is technically using 16 MIDI Channels, but when triggering that group from a DAW, for a Group like a Drum Kit, you would NOT want to have to assign 16 individual MIDI Channels to trigger each of the Sounds. Instead, assigning the Group to [Notes] allows one MIDI channel to trigger all 16 Sounds.
      But that doesn't work when the Sound is a Virtual Instrument (not a loop or sample, and actual instrument where different notes create different pitches of that instrument). For that, the Group would want to be assigned to [Channels], which also means several different Instruments (one Instrument per Sound) can reside in one Group.
      So, yes, the shorter answer is: the MIDI assignment is for the entire Group (and all the Sounds in the Group)...the individual Sounds cannot be assigned differently within the Group.

    Am I an idiot? Can you use Maschine 2 as an instrument plugin in Pro Tools without the Maschine hardware unit? I see forums that say you can but cannot for the life of me find a download link or product page.

    • @randall-tproductions7179
      @randall-tproductions7179  Před rokem +1

      Not an idiot...it is a little confusing. NI figured out a way that forces you to buy the hardware to get the software...so it is not available unless you own a Maschine device.

    Good information here even thoe I dont use pro tools. At approx 13 minutes when you deleted the patterns so they didnt play the ones in your daw and maschine supposedly to mute maschine you click the power icon on the top right next to the NI logo. That should go from white to gray and should mute maschine according to the manual... it doesn't seem to work in my daw but maybe you'll have better luck

    • @randall-tproductions7179
      @randall-tproductions7179  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! I believe that would work if I printed the audio...but I don't, so hitting that power button would stop the sound from Machine that I am triggering via MIDI in my DAW.

    hi nice video ..... i can't get my native instruments plugins to show up in pro tools I've been recking my brain trying fix it but nothing helps i came across this video while searching what do I do to fix it ? I'm using pro tools 10 and I'm on a Mac computer

    • @randall-tproductions7179
      @randall-tproductions7179  Před rokem

      Hey SD, so the basic steps are 1) Register your Maschine Hardware with Native Instruments, 2) The Application will appear in Native Access, 3) Install the Maschine Application and plugin from Native Access 4) I would run the Maschine Stand Alone App first, just to make sure all is well 5) Then fire up Pro Tools, add an Instrument Track, and load the plugin.
      That should work...if it doesn't, I wonder if Pro Tools v10 is the issue (released in 2011)...they are up to a version called 2022.09 now. Pretty sure if you contact Native Instruments, they will play out-of-date-version card. If your MacOS is older, that may be an issue too.
      Hope that helps!

    Hey Randall…With protools as a host I get a (error) message example (Middle East) could not be loaded) maybe you could do a video on it..Thanks ps.I’m a midi person to enjoy your very informative video)

    • @randall-tproductions7179
      @randall-tproductions7179  Před 2 lety

      Hey Harold, I assume that the "Middle East" it is talking about is a NI Expansion Pack they have (I do not own it). If NI cannot find it, there may be a file path issue. Open the Maschine2 Preferences, and click the [Library] Tab on the left. You should be able to locate the [Middle East] Product there...with its path. Then it is a matter of making sure that is where the product is. There is a ReScan button there too that should help sort issues out. You may want to sort all this out in the Stand-Alone FIRST...if that does not work, especially in the Stand-Alone mode, you will want to open a support ticket with NI. Good luck!

      Sorry for the tardy reply! When you buy Maschine, you register the serial number with NI, THEN the Maschine Plugin shows up in Native Access. Once you install that on your computer, PT should load it just fine?

    • @randall-tproductions7179
      @randall-tproductions7179  Před 2 lety

      Some trouble shooting steps...if you have downloaded Maschine correctly using the [Native Access] app, you should be able to locate the stand-alone app you can run without Pro-Tools. Mine is located in [Applications] > [Native Instruments] > [Maschine 2]. If that is there, run it and make sure it works on its own.
      If it is not there, then you need to go to the [Native Access] app, and install it (which requires a valid hardware serial number).
      If it is there, and seems fine, but still is not available in ProTools, then I would Uninstall Maschine2 using [Native Access], then reinstall it....make sure you install the AAX plugins (ProTools does not recognize VST or AU plugins)...If that does not fix the problem, I would recommend opening a ticket with Native Instruments (not ProTools), and get there help.
