I read below that someone did calendar in the mornings during morning meeting and I do that too freeing up some of my math time.
I would love those task cards that would be premade on TPT. Glad that you had a nice vacation in Las Vegas with your wonderful husband and friends.
Just had surgery for a pinched nerve and a slipped disk. Struggled with pain for over a year. The surgery went well and I am recovering and walking a mile a day after two weeks. I would follow the docs advice and do everything else first. But if it does lead to surgery, don't be afraid of it. I'm a retired teacher who is tutoring students so I'm just a bit older than you. You will probably do better than me. By the way, I LOVE your videos and materials. They have been a life saver for me as I taught middle school and am now tutoring 2nd graders.
Thank you for sharing that with me, Pattie!! I was definitely nervous hearing that surgery may have to be necessary down the line, but I have heard from others it was great for them so it's nice to hear that perspective!

I’ve had the same problem in the past squeezing math in between lunch and specials! This year is better, but what I did to try to fix it is doing calendar quickly as part of our morning meeting. I tried doing math first in the morning before reading, but that was worse. Anyway, this seems to work a lot better for us, moving calendar to the morning meeting slot. ❤️
That's a great idea - I have thought about that before and I think that would help quite a bit. I will try this week!

I love the games! I would love to get them in TPT. Do you do timed math facts quizzes? What is your progression of teaching math facts?
I don't often do timed math fact quizzes! I probably do them about 3 times a year just to see how students are doing with that fluency. I don't have a specific progression, but basically we do addition first, then subtraction with these skills (+0, +1, doubles, doubles +1, +10 with multiples of 10 (20+10, for example), +10 with any number within 40, +10 with any number within 120.

Dont do cortisol shots it only masks the pain and with ur body not registering the pain it will damage ur nerve even more thus leading to surgery! Do massage therapy focus Triggerpoint therapy and physical therapy if you feel u need it. Trust me for doctors surgery is always their answer. Anyway hope you get better soon. Love your videos! Try to see if you could get a massage or a personal trainer once a month. It makes all the difference even if it is expensive, I saw a change in pain.
