Same here. I really hate Buck as an announcer. I'm a pathetic Vikings fan, and I still don't understand why he got so upset by Moss pretending to moon the Packers' crowd. But this was crazy. Obviously Artie got the best of him, but he handled it well and had a few good shots for not being a comedian himself. Also yeah, good for him for taking responsibility for Artie being Artie.
Joe Buck just has always come across as so fake, insincere, and full of himself to me, so it was nice seeing a different side of him, even if it was a complete disaster.

When he'd been on Conan or Letterman before, even if he was raunchy he would still be likeable. As we know, Artie was at the beginning of the end here in terms of the Stern show, the wheels were coming off majorly and often times he was more belligerent than funny. At this point in his life, he was at the end of his rope. He was obviously using during this whole time period, and he admits it, like it shows in the video. And Artie STILL had his chances. Everyone was in his corner, and he did some of his best work after all this on CRASHING. But as someone who chased the dragon as well - and have been able to maintain my sobriety for 13 years - I get up some mornings and the first thing I want to do is use. Luckily I have a support structure, good therapists, etc. As soon as Artie hits the comedy circuit, the enablers come out of the woodwork, and if I was getting H and vicodin shoved in my face I'd fall hard too. Part of that is that anger at yourself for being so weak, and eventually the demons you are trying so hard to cover up with your drug use come out to play, and here is the result. I totally agree that had Artie made this playful, it would be a different thing. It reminds me a little of the infamous Joe Materese meltdown when he brings Artie, Anthony Cumia, and Jimmy Norden on to his show and they proceed to rip him apart. Actually, Buck gets some got shots in, unlike Materese.

After the dotcom era so you had (relatively) easy access to content, but not so much 24/7 media coverage where people can lose careers off a lame tweet. I remember you had to watch stuff like SNL live if you wanted to be in on the discussion. There was no youtube clip to instantly pull up

@@thefeverdream What I specifically mean is that there is always this threat of being cancelled for saying something someone will be offended by. Hence encouraging comedians not to cross certain lines, hereby "censoring" them. When was the last time you heard a comedian use the f "slur" for gay people?
