Thanks, and I really liked it too, especially for the price, even with the base Z1 chip, I could totally see myself using it happily. It's just the immediate hardware issue that ruined it for me. I might try again when a refreshed model comes out. I do like Asus overall.
I did try the Legion Go and while there were no issues, I was even more disappointed. It definitely feels like a first gen products more than anything else I've tried. I might give the Ally another shot. Hard to beat that sale price.
I love my rog Ally extreme all the updates that it came out with fixed all its issues there’s some games that I only play on my rog. And for emulating old-school systems perfection my wife’s been playing Mortal Kombat off the game cube and it runs flawlessly. The only thing I dislike about it is the 512 GB of storage should’ve at least had a terabyte but I’m about to update mine to a 2 TB card and then I can finish completing my build, I mainly have it for old-school emulating, but I want to get PlayStation games PlayStation two PlayStation three a crap ton of Wii games but I need more storage
Biggest thing i like about ally is that i can download game 100km away from my home in it...At cyber cafe where there is optic fibre and speed is 1gbps..
Ron Ally is okay. PS Portal is just a money grab that should have been a fully functioning portable system, Especially since you can't use any headphones you want and have to buy their headphones. The Rog on the other hand has WAY to many defective units going onto the shelves to be acceptable with it Toasting SD cards, Software issues (not to say that all others don't that's the rule of thumb with any New device really).
I have both the Ally and Legion go and if I had to pick before I got the Ally I would have picked up the legion go... the legion go perfect right now to have and it's going to get even better in time Oh and the ps portable is crap I would throw it away if somebody gave it to me lol
@@85crazytechlaz Same I went with the legion go. It has the least issues, software can be updated and made better. Your SD card being destroyed? Nah those units need to be recalled.
Not really a comparison. Portal is a mirroring device that cant do anything without a playstation console, while Ally is a standalone unit that can do PC normal stuff not only gaming. Even in price to value ratio Ally would hands down destroy Portal, especially now that Ally prices have dropped. Im a Steam Deck fan, so you can say Im neutral to this topic.
True. It wasn't really meant to compare them, but rather to demonstrate what some of the cheapest options are like. Steam Deck is the one I'm interested in next I think.
ROG Ally is absolutely fantastic ... I absolutely love using mine .... Big Regards and nice channel .

So you can recommend it for running emulators? I love that psp/ps2/gamecube/xbox/dreamcast era of video games, the best era in my opinion

It's a plus, but they need to start including more storage. AAA games are almost all close to, or over 100GB. Even 1TB is kind of tight, IMO.

Buy a steam deck
I might. I do like an OLED screen on a portable device:)
