- On March 24, 2020 the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a national lockdown. The lockdown was announced unilaterally without consultation. This led to a massive crisis of hunger, loss of livelihood and acute distress among the millions of migrant workers in India. Several individuals, civil society organisations and government officials came together to alleviate the distress faced by migrant workers. The union government’s response was not only delayed but woefully inadequate. The response from the judiciary was also weak. This video is a short recap of the migrant workers crisis.

Ukraine ke comedian president hai bhai. To India ke comedian journalist nehi ho sakte? Comedians cartoonists and artists are one of the highly observant, creative and intellectual people of the society. Charlie Chaplin, Rowan Atkinson, Johney Walker, Kader khan, Paresh Rawal, Bhanu Bandopadhyay, R K laxman the examples are plenty. They can put harsh truth lightly and aptly. They are far more knowledgeable than any politician and journalists.

He had to walk down 1000kms
Because of money issues
He went for some job or finding it.
He told his story
Nothing to eat on road
No body giving water because of corona
Police also giving a lot of trouble
Hearing his story was heartbreaking
Before that I didn't feel the pain for migrant workers
With him telling I connected with him personally
Now imagine how many people had to go trough that
I can't even imagine those pains. that boy is a survivor. may god bless him with prosperity.

I was migrant worker at that time and I can feel the pain when I was in long line full day with appetite, hopping to come to my home.This video makes me nostalgic.
Also don't forget Sonu Sood. If it wasn't for him this situation would've been much worse.

I want to also remind
1. They finally ran trains for migrant workers. There was some issue with the payment of tickets with centre and states fighting over who had given money.
2. A few trains carrying migrant workers actually went on a wrong route. Many workers were dead by the time they reached their destination due to starvation.
3. Workers who fell asleep on tracks were cut down by trains
4. Workers were pushed around by police when they were walking home.
5. UP got its migrant workers hosed down like inanimate objects with disinfectant.
That is really shocking
But then is there any data that these migrant workers who somehow survived..or the family of the dead.. didn't vote for bjp in the up gormint during their 2022elections??
Any explanation as to why they would vote for bjp? Even after going through death and starvation.

I have seen those migrant laborer in my own village (I live in West Bengal so people go outside of their state to find better opportunity) during pandemic, and they were doing not so good and still to this day they did not recovered as much.
