- The Tamiya DT03 Neo Fighter is a budget-friendly, performance oriented 2WD RC buggy that's light on the wallet and heavy on performance!
I put mine through it's paces in this video, it held up just fine, and really impressed me with the performance and fun factors being super high!
I'm running a 17T Holmes Hobbies "Retro Sport" motor, on a 2S LiPo, running a cheap eBay esc and servo, mated to a FlySky radio/receiver.

that looks good! Good to see they have taken some cues from the more modern racing buggies. The proportions and suspension geometry seem to be keeping it pretty stable and planted, even on that rough surface. That's excellent stuff right there, Fil.
She's a finely balanced machine, RJ. Tamiya finally took a step forward in the R&D department and gave us something to work with. Now if they would finally do away with the plastic bushings... lol!

Just built one of these. 95 euros with shipping and it came with a Hobbywing 1060 esc, motor and oil shocks..! Had paint. Servo and radio from a crashed (dead) Slash.

This really is one of those models that actually performs far better than the monetary sum of the parts, especially with a few tweeks and upgrades!
Some awesome footage there, loving the slow mo as she fly's through the air and kicking up the gravel!

Haha I definitely did not hold back one bit, I was full-throttle jumping, landing on rocks, etc and this little buggy really impressed me! It handles great, soaked up the big hits like a champ, and looked good doing it, haha! Thanks for watching, may the force be with you. 😁

It looks fantastic and you guys got some really good shots out there having fun with it! How are you liking those shocks? They seemed to really soak up the landings. It looked a little stiff in the slow motion but looked fine in the regular speed. I was just wondering as it is always nice to have options since Tamiya shocks can be hard to find at times! Thanks for the great video and for taking the pretty new car out and thrashing it for us to enjoy with you!
It was a really fun bash session, that's for sure! You're right, the front suspension is a little stiff, I hear guys add weights to theirs to help with understeer. But for bashing around, I was really happy! 👊

Should change to stock spring. Aftermarket ones will just make DT-03 worst.

@@poorboysrc to be honest… I think both the racing fighter and the neo fighter will benefit with oil filled dampers. I don’t know if the stock springs will work on aftermarket dampers, but Nordic RC Visions proved those mods will suffice if done right.
@@Nlangkirby135 oil dampers make a huge difference. I still haven't tried to fit the stock springs though. To be honest, for bashing around I prefer a but stiffer suspension setup. Helps soak up the big hits. 🍻
That car handles pretty well. I'm going to get one soon and set it up with oil shocks. Did you add ball bearings?

Hey buddy! Yeah she handles great! I spent ZERO time tuning the shocks, lol! That's straight out of the bag. So with a little effort put into suspension tuning, it would be even better! I only added bearings in the transmission. Everything external is fitted with ultra high quality, Tamiya bushings! 🤣🤣🤣

How did the Holmes hobbies retro sport 17t 540 hold up in the Dt-03?
It held up great, it was a good choice for that buggy. Fast enough on 2S, but not insane. We drove it hard for 30 min straight and no motor fade, etc. 👊

Looks like it handles well but super slow.
The shocks could use a little tuning, but overall I was really happy with it. I might drop in a hotter motor on the next run. 🤔
