Rem is calling her sister "Nee-sama", very formal and respectful while Ram, the sister just calls her by her name with no honorifics. This shows us that the blue-haired one has a lot of respect for the red-haired one while the red-haired one is very casual.
Also, Rem is the younger sister, while Ram is the older sister - thus Ram has more authority, so it makes sense that Rem addresses her more formally. Obviously there's more to it, but that's what we know for now.
Why cant Rem call her Nee-chan tho? I thought they were close enough for her to use that since its more casual.
@@SHEESHAW100 They're very close, but it's a sort of high class sibling relationship. Japanese nobility back in the day would use -sama amongst each other even amongst family. Also, despite how much they care for each other, there's a degree of distance between them because of the backstory.
The reason why Rem only says sister is because it's normal in Japan for the younger sibling to use "sister" or "brother" and the older sibling to use a name.

Reinhard is not that op offensively in the grand scheme of things besides using Reid, but he was literally unstoppable in the defensive side that it's not even fair.
Yaw MW in the show there are things called divine protections, that are very rare, basically like special abilities, Reinhard has a divine protection to ask and receive any divine protection he wants, plus he has the sword saint divine protection he got from his grandmother, so he’s the best fighter in the world, and you’re saying he isn’t op offensively 😂

In Japan, it's quite normal for the younger sibling to use "sister" or "brother" to address the older sibling whereas the older sibling just says the younger one's name. It's kind of a seniority thing.
It is also true for some other countries too.

16:27 Before watching Re:Zero, I always also wondered why Rem was the most popular Re:Zero character too, overshadowing her sister (I've only seen pictures of Rem and Ram over the years, mostly Rem before I got into Re:Zero a month ago).
After watching Re:Zero, I can see why (I won't say for spoiler reasons) and Rem became my favorite female character in the series.
yeah i was really scared that rem and ram would end up being inseparable characters, but they ended up being so different
I gotta say .. Subaru has become my favorite anime male character. The amount of things and personal changes that he has gone through are just crazy , and even do he keeps dying and dying he doesn't give up. Truly an awesome character.

After I saw your 1st episode reaction it just gave me the idea tobrewatch it. I finished binge watching both seasons and I don't regret it at all. Things get way more complicated than what you would expect and it is just overall a great anime.
This series will always keep you guessing and i love that about rezero. You can try to maneuver your way and say you see this coming or this is gonna play out this way then boom, mindblown the next second. to think this aired in 2016 and now four years later we get finally get the second season

Well, in eastern world calling your older sibling by name is considered super-rude. So that's why Rem calls Ram "nee-sama". Which actually means "older sister", and the translator only use sister in the subtitle for short.

He would have been fine even without knowing anything about the second blade before it was just about to slash him.
Why? Because he's Reinhard.
Arguably Subaru put Reinhard in danger there, for what minor inconvenience being hit would be qualifying as "danger". Danger to his snazzy outfit, maybe. Reinhard didn't know about the attack, so all well and good, it would be fine. And after Subaru warned him, well, he knew about the attack, all well and good, but in the moment, there was a superposition of both knowing and not knowing the incoming attack.

Reinhard is one of overpowered anime character beside Saitama.
There’s almost no reason to ever skip an anime’s intro short of not liking it or getting tired of it. With Re:Zero, they often forego the intro, so enjoy while you can.
