  • This video is about how to bend tubing for brass instruments.
    Most people should not try doing this, but you can watch the video and enjoy watching how it is done. Only try doing this if you are an experienced brass repair technician
    Do you want to leave a tip so Art can continue to make more quality videos?

    Nice new torch ;) thanks for the video. The only tube I had to bend, I used cerrobend (Woods metal). I suppose pitch works similarly but for some reason it's nearly impossible to find in France (ans for what I know, cerrobend is way less smelly)
    the mini baritone project is promising, can't wait !

    Can you do a video on soldering on different plated Instruments like nickel and silver? Also have you ever used woods metal instead of pitch?

    How easy is it to clean the pitch from the inside of the tube, and do you remove all the pitch from the inside

    • @TheBrassandWoodwindShop
      @TheBrassandWoodwindShop  Před 3 lety

      The vast majority of the pitch drips or burns out when you heat it up. Most of what is left is soot from the fire. If you wash it out and use a brush on the inside, it will almost all be gone.

    where can I buy french horn lead pipe. One of the places I tried only sells to instrument repair ships. Haven't found any other sources yet.

      If you know what leadpipe you need, you can go to a music store and see if they can order one for you. You can also keep looking on ebay or reverb.

      Here is the link to a video that will answer that question.

    Where do i get this pitch??

    • @TheBrassandWoodwindShop
      @TheBrassandWoodwindShop  Před 3 lety +1

      I get it from the pitch filled tubes that I get from Allied. I do not know if Ferree's Tools sells it. Also, one of my viewers said that Cerrobend works. I am not familiar with this, but you can check it out.

    Where Can I buy the pieces of pitch?

      I save mine that I get from the pitch filled leadpipes, but most people do not have access to those. Look at the other comments that people left. I think there are some suggestions for where you can get some.

      It is pitch. It is a lot like tar. It smells like a newly paved road. I am sorry, I know some Spanish, but I do not know the translation for it.
