    I am just about 5'5" tall, 65 kg and have a 30 inch inseam so I always struggle with standard seat height motorcycles. I am test riding a variety of bikes to assess what I can cope with on a day to day basis. I would like my ideal bike to be capable of touring, commuting, give me lots of grin factors in terms of speed and handling and at the same time be easily manoeuvrable in slow traffic and driveways/parking spaces. I find that top heavy bikes difficult to handle so the weight and how low the weight is carried by the bike makes a huge difference to me as a short person.

    excellent, informative review. I bought this bike a month ago and getting used to it and love it, similar height/weight and find the centre-stand quite a struggle compared to the ease with which you set it. Needs a little backwards momentum to get it on CS on mine. Wind protection from the screen is the only weak point on an otherwise cracking bike which is great value. It's my first non-sportsbike for a long time (S1000RRs previously) and find it all useable power on the 900XR. Keep up these excellent practical review videos

    Thanks for the review. I test rode this a few weeks ago and that side stand is ridiculous. Makes it like a dead lift to get it upright (I am also a shorty with 30inch inseam). Overall tho the bike is super easy to ride and manoeuvre and builds massive confidence. Spec is also comprehensive but it starts to get expensive if you tick every box. I’m also considering an R1250rs as for only a little more and you get the low slung powerful boxer engine and good wind protection plus all the fancy electronics. Perhaps this would be worth you having a look too? You’ve earned another sub.

      Thank you very much Sir, really appreciate your support. 100% agree about the side stand and the creeping up price with all the extras. I did a test ride on the RS and I found the low handlebars made it slightly awkward for slow manoeuvres. Whereas I found it much easier on the R1250GS which I think was due to the telelever front suspension. Try and test ride both the RS and GS. I know the GS is very expensive 😭

    I could recommend trying the vstrom 650. Not the latest tech of most the bikes you are testing, but great handling and practical. Tons of aftermarket support. I have a 30’ inseam and had lowered the bike when I first bought it, but I raised it back up and it is fine for me. Moving the handlebars up and back allows me to move around on the seat as well.

    Good review thanks. As someone said, no need to apologise about editing quality, it was fine and a 'real world' review. I ride the F750GS which I love. Racking up lots of miles though - 10.5K 1st year (even during Covid) so will trade in 6 months before mileage gets stupid. Currently torn between R1250RS, R1250GS as I really fancy the boxer engine. Or maybe this, cheaper and funky. The Triumph 900 GT Pro appeals but I think now I've had BMW build quality and the class-leading TFT I may be sold on BMW now. Still hoping Honda will make a skinny Crossrunner one day and I'll go back to Honda. Africa twin too tall. Subscribed, Cheers

      Wow high mileage all weather biker. I too am an all weather all year rider for work commute. And I really want my next bike that I don't get bored. but chain versus shaft. Although BMW now offers the M Performance diamond coated chains that require minimal maintenance. I preferred the magic carpet ride of the GS compared to the RS.

    Thankyou for another practical review for us shorter riders .I think the styling of the bike is very good with a plus note of having a front seventeen inch wheel for those of us who do not want to go of road. The down side for me is 1 no adjustable front forks /2 maybe 10 hp more /3 not so keen on the colour schemes i much prefere the blue on the naked version but thats a subjective one . Like your good self i am looking for a bike with a bit of wow factor to go with a practical side . I know its hard to find a bike that ticks all the boxes but your doing a good job of looking well done sir

    Nice review.
    I really liked the BMW F 900 XR, the main set back for me, was that the seat is not very comfortable, especially for my wife on the back seat.
    I also found the pegs to get in the way.
    Tha dash is really nice, the best in its class I would say. The only thing is that is was so nice I found it distracting at times (I just kept looking at it instead of looking at the roud).
    Have fun and ride safe.

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 4 lety

      😄 🤣 Yes the dash is one of the best there is and so easy to operate. I found the suspension set up slightly on the firmer side and for my short legs a bit top heavy and needed a proper heave to get it off the side stand.

  • @ramingolchini9120
    @ramingolchini9120 Před 4 lety +1

    Thanks for the review 😊. So glad to hear the perspective from a short rider, as I have a 29 inch inseam, and seat height is always the first spec I check. Pretty sure the low seat option on this bike is also narrower, so maybe it'd be closer to the Tiger 900.

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 4 lety

      Thank you for watching and for your support and I am glad you found it useful. Yes the low suspension version seat height is 775 mm / 30.5 inch which is comparable to Tiger 900 low. I would have liked to have tried the F900XR in low suspension version but none of the dealers near me had one available just to get an idea of how worse the ride comfort would be.

  • @mistersteviechen
    @mistersteviechen Před 4 lety +1

    Great video! I also had a sit on this bike at Cannons. I think it looks a bit plasticky and cheap, like BMW have started to cut corners. But the deal breaker is that the current BMW panniers (which cost me many hundreds of pounds) won't fit the new bike. This is absolutely unforgivable on BMW's part and I have shared my views with their sales people (they agree). It does seem like a cynical attempt on the part of their designers to extract even more money from their customers. It's a pity because the lowered version could be a decent option.

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 4 lety

      Yes absolutely I agree BMW are experts at charging for items to bump up the price to exorbitant levels. The F900XR has a lot more load carrying capacity than say the Tracer 900 GT and you cannot have a lower version of the Tracer so my options as a shorty are limited.

  • @STIjojoSTI
    @STIjojoSTI Před 3 lety +1

    You forgot to take a video of you on the bike with your feet on the ground. If you can try a lowered version if they become avaible in the future. Really like the looks of this bike. No chance for me to test them or sit on them since I live in an island far away from dealers. Im just watching your videos and have to decide soon what to get. Tiger 900GT pro, Vstrom 650, GS 850, Tenere 700 (not available in my country yet). Which bike did you feel the lightest? Most Comfortable? Easiest to ride? Confidence inspiring, not too tall? Thanks! Keep up the awesome content on your test rides, it does help us short riders alot. 👍👍👍

      F900XR has more torque at lower revs and more bhp so feels a bit more faster and gave me more smiles for sure but for creepy slow speed manoeuvres it felt top heavy for my short stature. For twisty roads and weekend blasts it will definitely be the F900XR.

    hey there! nice review of the bike...today i went to try out this bike and i found it so high. i am 1.70cm but 29`` inseam ..and i really think that i need the low suspension version. i dont think there will be much difference between the standard one if we talk about confort..bmw wouldnt give u something worse for more money(250 euros lower kit suspension) . i am in love with xr900. i saw the tiger 900 and the tracer 9gt and honestly i dont know what to do. the only sure thing i know , is that each one of the 3 i chosed , will be way way better than my actual Rebel 500 . in power, confort, and sensations. bmw full extras with low suspension is 14.500 euros in my town which i consider ok. the only bad thing on the low version is that you cant get dynamic suspension.(which honestly i dont care so much,coming from a rebel 500 almost with no tecnology) . do you think xr900 is a long term bike?

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 3 lety

      Hi I am glad you found my videos useful. All three bikes you mentioned are very capable bikes but I personally found the BMW a bit top heavy compared to the other two and i think the lowered version will reduce the top heavy feel. Otherwise the BMW is still a very good long term bike. I wish you the best in choosing the right bike and I am sure you will have lots of fun.

      @@InfusedBiker hello again! today after i saw your answer , it made me go for the bmw xr900 2022 New black storm model with of course the low suspension . now my bmw will be 775 mm height instead of 825mm on standard.(5 cm lower..makes the deal) i ordered it today with a lot of extra packs(quickshifter, dynamic maps,cruise control..etc) so the final price went to 13.720 Euros. which i think is amazing..the triumph 900gt pro was 17.000 euros and the yamaha 14.700 euros....yamaha was too high, and no chance of a low suspension, and the triumph too expensive for the same extras or less than the BMW. in the end, best choice i think it was the bmw. and in the new colour black storm it will look amazing.
      the only bad thing is that i have to wait between 3-8 months to get it to madrid because of the coronavirus ...anyway the deal is done so it is only matter of time...meanwhile i will stay a little bit longer with my rebel 500. thank you very much for your review which helped me to make the best purchase (i hope) of my life.
