I grew up in a family where my mother had a routine for each day of the week. Monday laundry Tuesday groceries Wednesday Clean house, etc. She kept this routine for almost 60 years. She's 94 now.
That’s awesome
Kudos to mom!
My late Gram had a weekly routine as well..so very organized..Miss her guidance..
God bless your mum ❤️
She's 94! I was your 94th like on this comment ❤
We started what we call “10 minute tidy up” as part of bedtime routine when the kids were little and it was the best thing ever. We let everyone pick one song and set a timer for 10 minutes and everyone jumps in and does as much as we can do in that time. As soon as we’re done we do cuddles and off to bed. Sometimes it’s a struggle to keep it going, but it’s so worth it.
This is such a great idea!
When my two were little we had 5 minute madness twice a day and we would tidy up and then decide what we wanted to do, be it go to the park or read a story to them and have snuggles, happy times.
We do the same! It's made a HUGE difference. We call it tidy up time!
I came back to find this comment and tell you that, after originally reading it, I implemented “TEN MINUTE TIDYYY 🎵🎤” every evening at 7:20. It’s made a huge difference in my home! Thank you!
This is so good. I wish I had started this when mine were little!!! I guess it’s not too late now!? They are 11, 10, 8, 5. I’m going to give it a go! …
I think that’s so awesome your husband and son went camping together! Such a bonding activity. This is random, but I got a horrible splinter when I grabbed the top of a wooden bird feeder a couple months ago. The splinter was so big and deep I literally was crying, and I couldn’t get it with a tweezers like I normally can. I remembered an old trick to take a raw slice of potato and hold it on the finger for about 20 minutes. It’s called a poultice, and it draws water out of the skin. I took the potato off, and it had almost sucked or drawn the splinter out with no pain at all. A tip if you ever get one. Now I wear gloves whenever handling wood!
According to Abby on NCIS, a banana peel works, too.
Ouch, I really feel for you.
I once got a splinter that was literally the size of my foot & I had to go to hospital to have it cut out. Even now I can see my Dad trying to push me down on the bed.
That’s a neat tip, thanks!
Raw potato slices work great for spider bites too! Just keep it on for up to 12 hrs then change for a fresh new slice.
I read abt a guy who did this for black widow & brown recluse bites he was always getting from work & it helped him improve & even impressed the Dr.
Wow! Thank you so much. That’s a wonderful tip. Just goes to show your kindness and the community spirit Cass created here 😀☀️💥
I took this advice to heart and set up a Daily/Weekly/Monthly check list on the app Out of Milk. It has literally changed my life. I also struggle with ADHD and being able to check these things off every day is like a little dopamine kick in my ass that I need to keep going. My house is CLEAN!!! I can see the bottom of my sink!! My bathtub has no ring!! There IS a bottom to the laundry basket; who knew?!?!? I freaking love it. THANK YOU for breaking this down in a way that I can understand. It really has helped immensely. Iv'ee learned that chores are a cycle. No beginning; No end. Just where you are in the cycle and checking things off as you go. Whew. What a game changer.
I LOVE Out of Milk. It has been a real help for me to keep track of food and other things I need. I also have a To-do list in the app.
Please show us what you put in the app.
Same!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
My one take away from this video is going to be a sheet day! I'd love to take away more things but I'm a realist and 1 new habit is all I can handle in life right now. 😊Thank you!
I love this!!! Oh how I wish all of our technology & information sharing was around 25+ years ago when I first became a mom. Growing up, Saturdays (ALL DAY LONG) were for cleaning & Sundays were for church. We only ever had late Sunday afternoon as down time during our busy weeks. I just went along with what I knew when I became a mom. My 15yr old just asked me last night if it would just be easier to do a few things each day so weekends could be for fun!! 💡So we start today so we can play first thing Saturday!!
Check out The Organised Mum Method. You never clean on weekends (laundry and dishes only) and it's 30 minutes a day. Sounds impossible but once you're in the routine it's truly life changing!
Try the flylady system, watch
Dianeindenmark..it's fantastic, made home mgt a breeze
Great to have your teen suggest the shift! My daughter / son-in love write a little chore list daily for the kids at home (11 and 17). At 23, My oldest granddaughter started her own cleaning and organizing biz!
My best housemate experience was at a retreat center where we 3 worked and had 2 days off midweek. We had a chore chart, and at one of our house meetings, Ray suggested we do our chores first thing on our 'Saturday,' to have the rest of our time off free!
We were each responsible for daily maintenance of shared areas, so it really didn't take long!
I've had a routine for years, but Friday was my playday for shopping or other outings by myself or with friends, with the weekend free for family. . Now that my husband is retired and wants to help, he has his chores on certain days. He's happy with that. YAY! Friday, I try to still keep that as our free/playday to go on a day trip or to a fun event. Saturday is usually at home and Sunday is Church and family. It works for us.
About camping, when I was young, I was a girl scout so real camping was fun, though we always a toilet nearby. Now, it's in a camper with a hot shower, super comfy bed and great kitchen. Glamping is Wonderful! 😊
Soak your strawberries in vinegar water , rinse, dry and store in glass . They won’t go moldy .
And assuming the glass is airtight, they won't get all shriveled up, either!
Doing the dishes and laundry each day really has made our house more manageable. When I mastered that I realized, wow, life is a lot easier xD
Growing up we also spent Saturdays cleaning and I hated it! Your routine is so much better and less stressful. I'm with you about camping; I definitely need a hotel. My husband camps with our 2 sons and I will never understand why people pay money to "rough it".
If God would have wanted me to sleep outside he'd have made me a bear.
🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ I did it because it was part of my job in the Army.
I could maybe do glamping. Not camping. Nope.
@@arleneaugustahair8393 they paid you though 😜😜
@@michellebilodeau3882 Lol 🐻
You know how people say hazing builds character. That is not true. But camping does build character.
Being in a situation where you have to problem solve, achieve and coming back gives you a sense of self like nothing else. With a responsible adult, of course.
I was in the boys scouts in my teens and it was amazing what it did for me. At the same time I was bullied at school because I was "too smart", "too nerdy". At the boys scouts I was praised by my peers for seeing the solution for a problem, for knowing what things were: being smart and nerdy. Some camps went sideways in a big way and coming back from those exhausted but knowing I managed to keep myself and others safe gave me a "I can tackle whatever the world throws at me" attitude. Having that was great for the next chapters of my life.
Great video! I have been diligently doing dishes and tidying every night for the last 8 months. It has made such a difference in how I feel about my house! I always felt like my house was “dirty” and not ready for company because of how long it would take me to pick up, organize and clean. Now I stay 15 minutes away from having a clean house at any given time. Also, I am team hotel all the way!!!
Love your term, 'stay 15 min away from a clean house' A great way to put it.
Two main things: first, your routines are key for the second thing, allowing your husband and son to go backpacking on the weekend. Doing daily and weekly routines not only makes you feel good but allows your family not to feel guilty that they are not helping you around the house on the weekend.
As for "backpacking" because that's what they did (not car camping or day hiking) but several days living out of your pack - good for your husband to plan and plan and plan. You want to "be prepared", not overpack, so that takes time to figure out what you need for food, shelter and water on your trip. Oh and the ever important: how to 💩.
When my daughter was in middle school, me, and the 2 girl scout leaders took her and their 2 daughters on a 9 mile, 3 day backpacking trip to the Ozette Triangle in the Olympic National Forest in Washington State. We hiked 3 miles each day to pitch a tent to camp, made our breakfast/lunch/dinners and had to filter water at some point. The second night our campsite is closed in by the ocean high tide and there is no way out until low tide. Planning and timing is key. From the shore, we encountered sea lions, watched whales feeding, one girl got stung by hornets (had to administer 1st aid). We traveled over sand, climbed rocks, waded in tide pools, and swung on swings. Oh yes, shoveled holes and found slopes to go on (cause that's what girls have to do.) Since that trip, I have done car camping and our last Girl Scout outing was glamping in a Yurt. It's an experience I will never forget. Not sure I would want to do it again; getting too old and I like hotels too much.
Previous Scout leader in Australia. I miss it.
Do I have a house? No.
Am I watching? Yes! 😂❤️
Totally a wilderness girl. There is something so gratifying about roughing it. Takes you back to a simpler time and brings out the survivor in a person. It is a total dopamine rush. Makes a person feel strong.
I grew up in NJ and often took hikes through the Ramapo mountains. It never occurred to me to be afraid. I had provisions in case I got lost and bells to keep bears away. And I always enjoyed a hike in the desert now that I'm in Arizona. Sadly my back no longer enjoys long walks. I really loved being out there and I miss it. But overnight? No. Take me to a Hilton or Homewood Suites. I'll camp there thank you.😄 Congratulations to your son on such a wonderful job he did. Kudos to your husband for taking him and teaching him.
That’s exactly what I did changed my cleaning days to during the week to have free weekends. I love your routine ❤️
We tidy like the queen is coming or my mother - best line ever!! 😂
I like the wilderness for an hour or two, so definitly team hotel.
I grew up going camping but didnt realize the planning involved until I had a family of my own to take camping...my kids enjoy camping. Now we plan 1 hotel vacation and 1 camping trip max each year.
Love the outdoors - cooking in front of the fire, telling stories, listening to the quiet stillness of the night - just you and the frogs or crickets. But, alas, that was years ago - I'm now a senior with old knees. I so wished I had kept it up so I could still enjoy it. Lesson for those under 50: for those still in shape, never stop.
I have been on again off again so many times throughout the years when it comes to cleaning but have found that I never really felt like it was complete until I started getting rid of stuff and actually started the decluttering process. I still have more to do but I’m getting there and feel like my schedule is finally working. Thanks to all you people on CZcams who show a better way to live a little more minimally and find our groove!
:)
Vacuum my mattress constantly
Thank you for giving your followers permission to not only fall in love with silly hobbies (Such as shovel digging toilets in the middle of absolutely no where), but to take days to relax and just be with the ones we love without a chore to do. Some people really, really need it.
I'm from Denmark, and we don't have wild animals here. So for me, camping in Denmark is okay. I would be too scared to camp in other countries than Denmark though. Good for your son, that he had a great time.
1. I’m a home organizer in Spokane, WA and I try to have most of my clients take YOUR clutterbug quiz, it’s so helpful!
2. thanks for your content! Your energy is infectious.
3. I also work for a youth backpacking company and TOTALLY LOVE all the things you hate about backpacking. There are absolutely 2 different people in this world!
If you want to have a good time backpacking, organization is key. The pack is packed well and you don’t lose important things like your navigation or lighters! LOL!
Hello from Coeur d’Alene! 👋🏼 Does your business have social media? I’m also curious about this youth backpacking company you work for. I’m a teacher who loves to backpack!
Oh yes and thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks on how to stay organized because Lord knows I'm still trying to get organized after 22 years of living in this house
You and me both!!😁
@@scrim8635 LOL...I'm glad I'm not the only one... I'm finally purging all 3 of my kid's things from when they were toddlers, teenagers, and early adults... now they're 33, 31, and 29.
It's amazing what a young boy can accomplish when his hero is with him. I love that they had some bonding time together, what a blessing Cass..
It was. :)
I "did" camping in my late teens and early 20s. I turned 63 today, and haven't been camping for decades. I have no intention of ever camping again. It was (sort of) fun then. But doesn't sound fun any more. I need my creature comforts now, and have for a long time. But I'm so glad the "boys" enjoyed their trip together, and I do hope they get to go more in the future.
What you described as your old weekend routine is my "I'm off for the summer holidays" routine. During termtime, my house gets very bad! Nobody else does it 😡 hubby wants a medal because he emptied the dishwasher! (Into the wrong places)
Mine washes 5 items out of 25 and I never hear the end of “I help with dishes” 🙄
@@cherrywilson6267 my husband has cerebral palsy, he struggles but not so much that he wouldn't be able to live independently so I makes me very annoyed
I prefer a combo of the two vacation styles. A nice cabin with all the creature comforts in the great outdoors. Also, your routine sounds fabulous. I'm definitely going to have to try it!
Great idea!
Yes! That is the compromise my husband and I have come to. He loves hotels and I feel claustrophobic in them, I love camping and it bores him. Cabin in the 'semi-wilderness' is a perfect fit👍

This is going to be so helpful! I hate devoting Saturday’s to cleaning and not relaxing- thank you for this!!
Oh, yes! The wilderness is where it's at. When I turned 70 I began my car camping 20-day road trips alone camping in regular campgrounds, but day hiking in the wilderness. At 70 the shoulders aren't as tough for backpacking anymore and I'm not feeling as comfortable being a female alone out there as much. Oh, the rivers, mountain trails and just the sounds of the forests are heaven to me. Yes, Cas, I'm almost ready to go on the next one at 75. BTW the gorgeous trails up in your country around Banff and Jasper are breathtaking.
Nature is the perfect place to reset your soul!!!
I hope your daughters get a chance to go camping too. I don't camp anymore but would go in a heartbeat if I knew a kid who hadn't had a chance to have the same experiences. I prefer the cottage - because running water and less dirt in your bed, but there is something special about really being off the grid.
I can't wait to get to the "keep up" part! Right now, I'm still decluttering with the bootcamp. Hope to finish withing the next 2 weeks. Then one more declutter round of things I wasn't sure about or things I missed. And then I can start keeping up, instead of starting and running around like a maniac.
That is awesome memories for Milo I am sure he will always remember this special time with his dad. I love this for them.
We love planning wilderness trips like that and then booking a fancy hotel for two nights at the end to get a comfy bed and a hot shower. It's like the best of both worlds! You could meet them at the hotel part!
I went on a 4 day backpacking trip with a summer camp when I was 12. It was Amazing! It was in the desert, no tent, no pillow, practically starving. But it was so worth it! It was a lesson in being grateful for what you have and soooo much more.
Thank you for the tips. Im not usually a routine person, but now that our house is mostly decluttered and 3 of 4 kids are in school, I feel like maybe its time to try a routine again. My main thing has been to 'improve the room' and never leave a room empty handed. Its helped immensely.
Dear CAS!!.I REALLY HOPE YOU READ THIS..
as a kid..my mom could never find time to spend with us.. she was either busy cooking or cleaning.. I promised I would not br like that when I became a mom.. but two years into parenthood.. I was STRUGGLING to break from the smae routine..
After ur weekly cleaning routine video.. I dove right in..made a chore list and tried adhere to it.. and although I'm not all there yet.. yesterday was the FIRTS WEEKEND I actually chilled with my two year old.. ❤️❤️❤️ without feel overburdened with all the stuff I had to do.. I told myself.. there's a time alloted for all that.. and I nearly cried!!! THANK YOUU!! I hope u know how much you hv helped me!! and my two year old..who got a lot of mommy time.. I love you
It's so easy to keep your house tidy when you're camping. Before you take your tent down, but after you've taken your stuff out of it, you just pick it up and dump out any dirt.
I have backpacked in my younger years and enjoyed it at that time. It isn’t for me now - we have a camper :). I do love the outdoors though. Thanks for sharing your weekly routine and how you free up your weekends!!
I grew up knowing the little poem ‘This is the way we Wash our Clothes’ that outlined a different chore for each day. I tweaked it for our family but, yes, daily assigned chores makes good sense.
Love that!
I grew up going camping with my family but usually we set up in state parks, not in the middle of nowhere. I guess I'm a half & half girl bc I love the wilderness but I also like knowing there's public restrooms, showers & convenience stores not too far away.
PS, I rarely ever leave comments but I just wanted you to know that I absolutely love your channel & look forward to seeing your new posts every week! It's so nice to find genuine & positive content in a world filled with so much negativity these days ❤️
I think the only camping I would like to do would be in an RV where I have a real bed, a toilet, shower, sink, stove and refrigerator. Screens to keep out bugs! A table and a couch! That's my idea if roughing it. And I'd still be able to enjoy the scenic wooded views.
It's wonderful to hear that Milo and Joe enjoyed their camping trip! Some of my favourite memories are of canoe-tripping in Algonquin park and on the Missinaibi River (north of Chapleau). Even when it was raining and cold, I always had such a feeling of accomplishment afterwards!
Omgoodness I am SO glad that I stayed till the end! I want to hug you, this had me cracking up!!! I personally think your husband and son's trip sounds AMAZING!! This is something I imagine both of them will remember for the rest of their life and it makes me teary and my heart swell just thinking about it. I hope they get to go on many more adventures like this. (I mean, they may as well since hubby spent all that time researching and buying all this cool equipment 😉) BUT as much as I LOVE nature and a good adventure, I, kinda like you, am not crazy about the whole shovel & a hole accommodations. 😦😂 (that is one of the things I like best about my RV, a 🚽😉) I bet the views they experienced though were epic! (& no neighbors!!!!) Thank you so much for sharing this. 🤗💙⛺️🛶
My 20 year old son is currently on a six week backpacking trip SOLO. He's been gone for five weeks so far and has extended his stay in Canada (he loves it up there! Who can blame him?) I'm just hoping that he makes it back home to California in time to start college! He is definitely the opposite of me. Though the photos he's sent me are stunning, I would like to see all of these places and then go sleep in a hotel. He's happy setting up his tiny tent that he carries on his back on the edge of a river and sleeping there.
I am a historical reenactor. We gather at historical sites and dress in costume to sleep in canvas tents and cook over an open fire for the weekend. A lot of the same people come to these events so they are my extended family. Like hockey weekends we all have the same interest. I love it. Different strokes for different folks.
Love the clean routine....going to try! I want my free weekends. 👍🏻
Go Milo!! Sounds like you had a great adventure ☺️. So cool. 😎
Definitely I’d love both camping and hotel vacations. Thanks for the cleaning schedule I think my family will benefit from this a lot.
During COVID, we hired my newly graduated son as our chief cook and bottle washer (as my dad used to say). (Because we were working from home, and didn't want him risking COVID for minimum wage). We created a laminated daily schedule of tasks. Monday bathrooms, Tuesday living and dining, etc etc. I think it was great training for him to become a great future roommate and husband one day.
The most amazing trip I ever took with my father was a wilderness canoe camping trip where it took us seven days to get back to civilization. There is something that bonds you irrevocably knowing that you are paddling together through lakes and rivers that 99% of the planet will never see.
I love your routine printables. They’ve been inside my cupboard door for a few years. As a reminder to stay focused and do them! When I do do them…..the week goes very smoothly!!
Resort/SPA/ hotel are keywords in vacay research!! LOL
I like your routine! I’ve always had a sheets day, but just did the others as needed. We started out tent camping years ago, now we glamp camp😊. I avoid hotels as much as possible.
Joe was creating some great memories with Milo, and hopefully Milo will someday do the same with his children. As I teenager I took many backpacking trips with my Girl Scout troop. I have always loved the outdoors. When I got married my husband and his family were more of a 5star resort kind of people. 2 years ago at the age of 58, I backpacked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, I hadn’t backpacked for 40+ years. It was the best 5 days of my life!
How awesome!
Back in the day, The Slob Sisters (Sidetracked Home Executives) had a schedule similar to this. Each day had its own focus.
Before we had kids, my husband and I backpacked a lot. I actually loved it! My oldest (16) went for the first time earlier this month and enjoyed it. My husband and I are old enough that we have a hard time sleeping on hard ground anymore though so we got a travel trailer a couple years ago. (We do also enjoy staying in condos for most of our vacations though. Soft beds and a swimming pool! 😁)
I love both of those scenarios!! I've done both! I was in army cadets when I was 12 to 17 we did those kind of camping trips 50 Mile hikes canoeing and digging out our latrines bathrooms lol! As a girl I still loved it we hunted caught a rabbit ! Fished! Learned how to start fires without matches how to build shelters I taught my children too they loved it and now teach there children! We would also stay at 5 star hotels! Best of both worlds! But I love nature more! ❤️🙏 God bless your family love from Canada ❤️
My husband and his father did this more than once while living in Canada. He looks back at those camping trips as one of the highlights of his early childhood.
Thank you for the weekly routine spreadsheet-💕
That story about Milo becoming a man brought tears to my eyes. What a good husband you have! I pray my husband can do the same for our son when he's a bit older.
I love a good camping trip but we always had bathrooms. My husband says that's not camping but we did sleep in a tent ... 😉
Fantastic routine! Definitely need to get more routine in my life! Especially in the summer! We get SO lazy! Then I spend ALL day Sunday doing laundry! Yuck!! What an awesome trip Joe and Milo took together! Making amazing memories! My camping started with a tent, progressed to a pop up camper, and now a smaller hard side camper. We love it! Semi "glamping" really because I'm not about to dig a hole! My husband and his buddies usually go to an "island" (it's in Michigan, nothing tropical!) and although they can take a pontoon boat over with everything aboard, it's 100% primitive! Made a Home Depot "toilet", complete with seat! To go along with the shovel and TP "holder"!! NOPE!! Not for me!! LOL!! To each their own I suppose!!
My son ( now 25) did a similar camping excursion with a group of friends to a wilderness in Colorado a couple of years ago. They bought their gear months in advance and tested all the equipment to the letter. They practiced backpacking, everything you can think of, before going. I thought they were crazy, but they had a great time. I think it’s a rite of passage or something 😆
When I graduated from college, I went canoeing (camping, too) with some friends on the Shenandoah River for 5 days. I've never been since and have absolutely no desire to do so-- I'm definitely Team Hotel 🤣
I grew up camping with only what you can carry. So young, I carried the iron skillet in my backpack. That was all I could handle. Walked out our door Friday afternoon and didn't come back until Sunday night about dark. 😀
I adapted a routine from the Flylady: Mondays-Fridge and groceries. Tuesdays-bedroom and trash (trash pickup is Wed. Morning). Wed-Bathrooms. Thursdays-Floors and Livingroom. Fridays take laundry to laundry room and soak whites. Saturdays-Laundry. Sundays-"bless the house"
This was such a great video. I really loved the weekly routine idea. I am not quite that organized yet, but I am getting there!! So about the canoe camping.....we are those people! For 20 years we have portaged our way through Ontario and Michigan. Have your husband look into the Sand Lakes route near Wawa, Ontario. It's fabulous!
Awesome video!!!! You look beautiful in that blouse - gorgeous color!!! Love that you said "weekends are meant for relaxing!" I needed to hear this!! Well....I'm with you girlie - hotel please!! 🙋♀ That is so awesome about your husband and son camping though! I would be incredibly proud too!
There is nothing more freeing to me than carrying everything on my back and just going! I crave simplicity. Stripping everything down to the bare essentials helps me see what's truly important for me in terms of function, health, comfort and beauty. For me it's an antedote to the modern world. That said, I have learned that, for me, even more than a toilet a warm shower is everything!
No judgement though! That's just me!
Love this simple weekly plan!!
❤
So glad you like it!
"My idea of camping is a five-star hotel with everything" Cas just thought you would like this statement from me, Lynsee Cain and a fan of your videos and have organized and cleaned my house and have a weekly schedule so thanks, and take care always! Lynsee Cain, Roswell, Georgia USA
That's a big NOPE from me! My idea of camping is calling room service! Grew up rural and had enough of bugs etc! Kudos to Milo....sounds like he had an awesome time, and what a great thing to spend time with his dad. That is a gorgeous area, have driven through it....but very remote!
Thank you so much for this, lovely. I NEED to do this..... As for the camping, it must have been a great father-sun time. When my daughter was 10, we went on a small roadtrip while mooving to another country. She said she absolutely wanted to sleep in a tent, So I inested in all kinds of things and we stayed on a camping in France...... for 1 night....... `Mum, I am not a tent person, I hate the buggs....... So the rest of the time we stayed over night in a hotel or B&B.....(thankfully 😂).
I used to wait until Saturday to "clean". And i mean deep clean, plus laundry...Now I tidy every day---I always make sure my kitchen is clean before I go to bed. Im still working on the laundry though. I try not to wait until Saturday and wash a few throughout the week but it still seems I have several loads to wash on Saturday. Now Sunday I can relax (after my couponing trip) and not kill myself trying to finish up the housework---but i do tidy every day to keep it looking good.
Fantastic! This is close to what I do in my house weekly. I love having the weekends free of cleaning rooms. I don’t do laundry on the weekend, though. I’ve been able to space it only on the weekdays. Thanks for the inspiration!
Please share your laundry routine!!
@@macprincess2 Sure! There are 4 of us for reference. I put the load in right after I wake up so I have time to wash/dry/fold/put away the same day.
Monday: towels and underwear
Tuesday: darks/jeans
Wednesday: sheets and blankets
Thursday: more towels or whatever needs washed (bath mats, comforters, or bulky things)
Friday: permeant press and hand wash.
☺️
I used to lead backing camps for teenagers when I was a young adult, and I LOVED it. My husband and I just had our last kid, and I can’t wait to get back to it!!
I loveeeeee you. 🇮🇷. I also arrange everything like you, make lists and de clutter everything.
Your videos were so helpful to me that now I never tell myself I'm a low energy hypothyroid. I give time to arrange everything in my life to make myself contented💗💓💗💓
This "10 minutes routine" has changed my life. I do it every morning before doing to work and every night before going to bed.
I miss camping. Mostly in National Parks. My ex-husband was an order of the arrow boyscout, I grew up on a remote ranch in Texas (I rounded up cattle when I was 13, Granny occassionally would say, Go get dinner. I would take the rifle and try to find something to shoot that I could carry home, like a rabbit or armadillo) which had an outhouse full of spiders. We had a VW diesel rabbit that got 35+ miles to a gallon. We could set up our tent & tarp fast. Go hiking in Bryce Canyon or Yellowstone, come back and cook a dinner, with steak, relax & read then hit the sack. We were both veterans so we had a lot of recent practice. I have been to so many Parks (4 corners, Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, Montano, Texas). Now I'm 70 and mostly stay home since covid. I will never forget all the beauty I saw, the animals, mountains, etc etc. Now I would insist on a motel, but so glad I had those experiences.
Thanks for sharing this one! I’m moving into a new home soon, and am excited to start fresh! That means keeping things nice and tidy. A weekly routine like this would be great to keep my weekends free. When my daughters were younger, we would spend our Saturdays cleaning. We would turn up the music and start picking up and everyone got busy on a chore. I don’t have that same routine in place for my sons. Friday evenings when they come home after school would be a perfect time! Everyone is in a good mood on Fridays, right?? Lol! 😂
I can camp out in any type of location because I do like camping. Although given the choice, I’d totally choose a hotel on the beach as my vacation spot, over a camping trip any day!! 😂
This sounds great for stay at home jobs. But how would you do this if you worked full time? I really agree with weekly jobs. When I come home from work it’s all I can do to get dinner made and cleaned up. Love your channel
She does work! She has a CZcams channel and does consulting work. To say nothing of her tv work.
I agree. After work I'm exhausted.
@@kathyorourke9273 her type of work is under her control - Cass can schedule things to allow herself time to grocery shop during the day, give herself time to clean during lunch, etc. not everyone has that same type of flexibility.
Evelyn, if your clothes washer has a delay start it is a game changer. Try doing one load of laundry a day by putting the clothes, towels, etc. in before bed, setting it to run in the morning so it’s finishing as you wake up, and then you put everything in the dryer so you can fold or put things away before you leave for work. Little tricks like that make all the difference.
My thoughts exactly. I wish someone would make a schedule for working people. There is no way I could do laundry every day! And as an instructor, I have papers to grade and lectures to prepare when I get home.
My family and I love to go hang out in the wilderness...no TV, no internet, no bathrooms. Some of my best memories are camping with my husband and kids. We bought a camper trailer because we are older and have grandkids....that's just what you are supposed to do, right? My husband made sure there were enough sleeping spaces for everyone. But you won't believe this...my grown kids don't like camping in the trailer! They would rather have a tent and go potty in the bushes (except at night). We've had lots of fire restrictions around here and I really miss campfires. It is a spiritual reset to be out in nature and free ourselves from the chains of the modern day. However, we do also enjoy a beautiful hotel room and delicious restaurants. A nice balance of both is soothing to the soul.
I love your weekly routine. Today is Wednesday so I am going to strip the bed now!
I feel like there are two types of people too, those who were exposed to nature as children and those who weren't. I was not, and feel the same way as you on the inside but try to be brave and bold for my kids on the outside. I want them to grow up with that connection to the natural world. I feel just as proud of myself as I do for them when we go on adventures like that.🥰
Making snacking a daily routine for children will cause them to fight obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, alzheimer’s when they get older 💕
Your Routine is amazing! And so are your wilderness-loving men! 💖
I'm trying to "steal" minutes during the week to tidy some things and do some small tasks. It frees up time in the weekend that I can use for bigger tasks and for FREE time.
This works better with some declutter and getting "homes" for most stuff.
Camping is preferred for me 😁. Nature is almost like church or bonding with the creator. Sometimes we combine camping and getting smokey fire dirty then going to a nice hotel with a feature like a hot tub or an outdoor pool the last day. We come back clean and relaxed.
Awww such a great experience for dad to share. I was teary eyed listening to the story & sayn "awww" the whole time. I'm 50/50. I LOVE outdoors (hiking, kayaking, swimming, wading in a pond/lake, camping, ect) & searching for someone to do more of it with me. But I also am boogie with hotels i choose (oceanfront, air conditioning, cable, continental breakfast, pool, ect). Ha.
The story time about camping reminds me of the book “The trumpet of the swan” good for them doing all the things and making all the memories.
The backpacking trip... That was my husband's life every year for 13 years. It was his job. He took teens into the forest and bushwhacked, canoed, portaged, and taught orienteering for the entire summer. Each trip was between a few days up to a month depending on the group he took. It is our dream to take our kids on the same types of trips when they are old enough. He knows the northern woods around here like the back of his hand. While our kids are still preschoolers we are sticking to tenting in campgrounds but keep our packing quite minimal.
Thanks for sharing that awesome story! Go hubby!
I love camping. Haven't gone for several years now. In 2018 I rented an off grind tiny home, had an outhouse and outdoor shower. To quote you Cass it was amaze balls. I remember when I first got there walking in the clearing around this cabin there were at least 2 dozen dragonflies flying around us. It was just me and my dog at the time there for a week. It was so quiet and peaceful. I was fully relaxed in a couple of days. Oh and the outdoor shower was the best. Only used 1L of water.

God bless you Cass.
You're so welcome!
Went backpacking a lot with my kiddos, such great memories. Now I won’t go anywhere without my RV. Time and season for all things.
Definitely.
I grew up doing backwoods camping and canoe trips! These are memories to last a lifetime. I take my kids camping now. This summer was gifted one of my parents old canoes, which my daughter helped my dad restore as a summer project. It's not so weird and ick-y if you grow up with it, I guess. What I do find kind of ick-y is sleeping in a hotel bed hundreds of other people have slept in with scratchy sheets and not my own blanket. Hotels around 3rd place to my own bed or none at all. To each their own. I'm so happy for Joe and Milo... totally understand why you are so proud!
:)
I think glamping sounds appealing. You get the nature fix but you still get a nice bed and private bathroom at the end of the day!
Hee hee - I grew up camping as my dad loved to fly fish (no long hikes/ packing, as my mom was on crutches from polio in 1921!) - I love being in the woods or at the beach - our church does a camp out every summer, and I'm happy on a cot in a tent for a few days (especially when others plan the meals!!)
At about 14, I fell in love with Breitenbush Hot Springs, when we visited my uncle Bill while he worked there one summer - and actualized my dream to live there 27 years later!!
The best of it all - in the mountains by a river, living in cozy homes with geothermal heat, electricity from our own hydro plant, and we could cook at home, or sign up for lovingly prepared meals (organic vegetarian) at cost!
We had access to the pools and sauna 24/7, plus hot showers or baths, and there's a shared laundry house and clotheslines (inside out out)!
Truely, the best of both worlds! My daily commute was a foot bridge across the river, and I offered massage and taught Tai Chi (32-36 hour work week)
I do enjoy a motel with ocean view - and usually wake up early and do Tai Chi outside
You are so honest and have an upbeat personality . Thank you for your tips and tricks . ❤️
I recently started using a laundry pick up and delivery service once a week. I can never go back, 100% worth it
I'm on your side as usual Cass! Jim Gaffigan does a great skit on camping!
Definitely hotel. That's where I'm heading to on my birthday!
There is a middle ground for me and my Mom. We had a hard sides camper with beds that popped out on both ends. It was like tent camping with the tent ends and good screened windows. Then there was a microwave, fridge, stove run on propane. We went to a beach camping area and had water hook up, electricity and paved area to park on. It was great. My husband drove our Jeep Cherokee with the camper behind it and parked it. We parked the Jeep nearby in a parking lot. My Mom had her Toyota Highlander with some food and clothes and I had my Volkswagen Camper Van with our two dogs and fire pit and extra supplies. We had 3 beds in camper and 1 in the van. There were bathrooms and showers to use. We had a bathroom with shower and sink but it was so small we did not use it. We were at Huntington Beach on the sand right across the paved bike trail. I sold it when my husband passed. I now have a different Volkswagen Van Camper and my Mom and I plan to go back in that. I love hotels too! However, waking up at dawn and starting a fire and having coffee is the best. The dogs loved it too.❤
I LOVE LOVE canoe camping at Algonquin (and even further into the wilderness). We just moved at the end of spring and we are now less than a half hour from Algonquin. If you want to Hard Wall camp with us Cas, just drop me a line. We’re getting all of the nice things soon (plumbing, electrical, internet, etc) but they haven’t started our build yet!!! (It was to be done last year…but…but…well, all of it.
So, we entertain ourselves by taking our canoe, kayak, gear, and the dog to Algonquin to get some time away from the “lack of home” stress.
This year though, the mosquitoes can nearly fly you away.
We backpack every summer. My kids love it and we sold our popup camper because my kids would rather hike in. My daughter has been doing it since she was three. My husband took a boy scout troop to the same lake a couple weeks after we went as a family and everytime a teen whined, he reminded them our three year old just did that hike carrying a chunk of her own gear.
Not about the no running water, but the cabin in Colorado we stay in doesn’t have hot water, so I boil water for dishes, and there is a shower house close by. There is a wood-burning stove for heat. My husband fishes all day and I read and take nice leisurely walks. It is the best time. No TV, no Netflix, no phones. Love listening to the babbling brooks and the Aspen tree leaves blowing in the wind. Heaven!
