I first listened to this song in Harare Zimbabwe in 1984 and I was 16 years old. I still love it
What a brilliant guy
Tune still sounding great 40 years on.
If only modern artists who rap could have similar intelligence. It will always remain a great record.
Imhotep Gary Byrd so inspiring and the Crown what an old school rap classic.
That radio voice just breathes right through his "singing" rap.
I love this, such a very big part of my teenage years and very inspirational. Gary is so very articulate. at the age of 53 I now have a Master of Science, a PhD, and a Law Degree (all started in my mid 40's) I am a 6'2 bald white man, I look like a racist, but that is the picture media has painted of me, so, forget the politicians, and the social media, we are all family, and all originally from Africa, much love. xx
I listened to Gary Byrd every night 7pm on WWRL, great memories and a classic song!
Wow, I live in the UK and never realised that this interview ever happened on the TV programme "Black on Black"
This is a classic song 🎵

Stevie is a pioneer. The only music producer that supercede him is Quincy Jones.

We've never seen one
@@BlackCinemaClub There's a video, on CZcams.
The crown: Stevie Wonder.
Who performed the rap to this song?
He sounds a lot like Kurtis Blow.
It was actually Gary Byrd.
Curtis Blow sounds like Gary all the rappers were listening to Gary , he inspired them
@@ptahnubia Stop with the cap . Everybody in the late 70's was rapping like that long before Gary released this single . Busy Bee Starki , Kool Moe Dee , Sugar Hill Gang , etc .
No Kurt's Blow sounds like Gary, Gary inspired many to create Rap, LL Cool J is the only artist that gave him credit, search "Every Brother Ain' t A Brother " released around 1972. He's in the Hip Hop Hall of Fame
Are there African anthropologist with research papers on Europeans?
