What do you love most about Crested Geckos?
I LOVE CRESTED GECKO'S CUZ THEY ARE SO INTERESTING. It was thought they were extinct til 1994 when found in New Caledonia in large numbers. They have no eyelids & have double jointed toes. If they drop their tail, it sadly won't grow back, causing them to have a bit of trouble moving from branches as it's tail is prehensile. If they lose the tail, they are known as a "Frogbutt". They come in so many colors and fire up and down. Unlike many geckos, they are omnivores. My son and I are getting 1 in the next couple weeks and I can't wait. He convinced me to get 1 by presenting facts and care requirements to me every night until I caved. If I stated anything untrue, please feel free to correct me so that I'm properly educated... Oh, and some call them Eyelash Geckos. GREAT VIDEO THANK U FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
Ease of care: Food is pretty uncomplicated, and my petsitter has no issues taking over.
Temp/Humidity is easy to achieve
Relatively small foot print in the home
Not bitey boi's
Unique look
Great ambassadors, really.
That I don't *have* to feed them bugs and the diet is pre-mixed. I absolutely loathe having to get insect and other bug supplies for feeders. It's not even that I hate bugs. It's just excruciatingly frustrating to feed something bugs where I live unless I raise them myself due to supply issues and I don't want to do that.
I just want to note that I have tried giving my single crestie bugs a few times in the past. She actually ignores them. Instead I feed the Pangaea diet with bug parts.
Edit for spelling. Autocorrupt is evil.
I love how different they are from each other! I have two who could not be more different :)
Distinct personalities just like other domestic pets
Yay my vote won
Woooo

@@WickensWickedReptiles Thanks for the video man!!!
I was literally just considering getting a Crested Gecko as my first reptile after so much research, but was so hesitant to make a decision, and then I saw your notification. I’ll take it as a sign that this should be my first reptile! Thank you!!✨
Get it. They're awesome. My cousin has one and I'm thinking of getting one too. Just set up it's enclosure prior to purchasing one.
They are awesome, but do lots of research
@@Jar0fMay0 Yeah their super cool, and of course, I will definitely will set up the enclosure a while before buying one. 👍
@@Loganisbad Definitely. I have been researching them for about a couple months to see all their requirements and needs, and it doesn’t hurt to research more before getting one so I’ll know everything I’m getting into. 👍
Do it! I love my little guy. He is my tiny scaly idiot son.
I researched a ton before getting him. I went to a spring expo so I could talk to breeders and get info on care etc. Then I spent the summer building a bioactive enclosure so it could be settled and ready for the fall expo. Went to the expo last September, already knew which breeder I wanted to buy from, went straight to her table and took a look at what she had. She had geckos ranging from young babies, to juveniles, to adults that she was retiring from breeding. I found my eye kept being drawn back to this little juvenile red dalmatian that was super active in his cup. She asked if I wanted to hold him, I said yes, and it was love.
He is the best. He is super chill. I can handle him no problem, and he seems to enjoy chilling on me while watching TV. He likes to curl up on my chest for naps. If I offer my hand, he'll curl up under it like a cave.
Great guide. I’ve had my Crestie for about 17 years now , she’s ballparking 20-21 years old. Still super active and my baby
Thanks for sharing!
Hi I have a question I just got my first crested gecko but I can't tell if it's eating or not this is my 3rd day with him and I'm just worried
@@se9882a good way to tell is to use paper towels at the bottom of his/her enclosure, that way you can easily see where your little fella used the restroom. Also look for small dents in their food, I’ve had my oldest for 7 years and sometimes he still will just barely pick at his food, and other times he eats it all. Also, you’ve had them for not even a week so give them time to adjust to their new environment and get comfortable with you and the noises etc.
Yay, pushing UVB even for nocturnal reptiles! My leachie often sleeps with her head in the shade under vines and the rest of her body hanging out, soaking up UVB
Just bought a beautiful baby for my son's 7th birthday. $90 for a gorgeous dark black with with stripe. Love that you are taking them to the world!!
I just got a little crested gecko last month. Best choice ever; Binky is a precious lil treasure.
that is a fantastic name 10/10
I've always wanted a crested, and my local pet store finally got one and immediately sold me on it. This video is exactly what I needed to get me ready!
Perfect timing, my son just started asking for his first reptile. He is 11 and has been doing his research and presenting a sales pitch each evening to convince me it should be a Crested Gecko. We are picking up an enclosure and all the accessories we will need next week b4 we pick one out. I'm as excited as he is. It's a good thing since care sometimes occasionally falls to parents who don't enjoy reptiles or dont know how to take care of them. Great info, as always! I would love to see a video on Monkey Frogs if you have some good info 2 share. I just saw a short on 1, and they look so interesting with all the wax they rub around. Thx
Crestie’s are SO cute! I wish they didn’t drop their tails so easily but they’re cute even without them. 🦎❤️🦎
they sure are cute
Ngl, i think that tail thing is a bit exaggerated, i know that some do drop them easily, but people made it seem like they all drop them super easy
I have 10 cresties and I've never had one drop a tail. (Knock on wood) I do have one tailless adult male that I purchased from an expo a year ago.
@@JupiterJamie i gotta know if after you said this one dropped its tail
@@Summer123098 Luckily, no! I still have 9 of them and the only one without a tail was the one bought that way!
Love crested geckos! They were my first reptile ever and i fell in love with them! I now have five! They really opened the door to exotics! I definitely agree they are one if not the easiest lizard to keep!
They are the best!! Great video as always Adam! - Sullys Reptiles :)
Yeah! New wicken's wicked reptiles video!!!
More to come!
I've had my crested gecko for over a year, and i love him out of all my reptiles i would say he is one of my most easy going reptiles. One day i would like to get another that's maybe a bit more of a fancy colour. I'm also going to be making his tank bioactive soon!
planning on getting a crestie soon, this was so helpful!!
glad it was!
I love watching your content. It’s inspired me to get back into reptiles, I use to have a few growing up but didn’t own any for years. Last year got a fire skink, they’re alright. Really beautiful though. And am thinking of getting a new lizard sometime soon. Stuck between a few though, I want to get a uromastyx so bad but then I saw a created gecko at the local pet store and am thinking of getting one of those now. Really want to go to an expo to see and learn more but there are not very many around where I live. Thank you so much for making such amazing content
Great video! Thank you, sir.
Glad crested won! I watched the last care guide you made and my kids kept saying no. So I shown them this care guide and now they're saying they want Chicken after seeing her try to jump on to your face 😂
Acquired a baby crestie with no time to prepare and have been binging videos since, thank you for this!
Yay, was hoping for this. When I have space, a crestie is going to be one of my first reptiles. They're such cute little dragons.
Perfect timing, thinking of getting one of these little guys soon
I hope this helps
Just bought an enclosure and a few supplies!! :D There's a reptile show in my area in a month or two, so excited!!
wicked!
This is great. Ive been doing a ton of research to get one, and Im finally looking for where I can buy!
Love your stuff Adam!! Can you do a video on reptile terminology explained. There’s a lot of terms i did not understand for a long time and a video explaining these would be helpful. I’m talking terms like in shed or moulting or heat pores etc stuff we say freely that we don’t recognize people in the hobby wouldn’t understand right off the bat
ohhhh this is a GEAT idea
Im so excited. Just got a 18x18x36 and finally getting my first crestie.
Thanks that helps a lot 😊
this timing was perfect, tysm (:
thanks for watching!
I think I just love everything about crested geckos ❤
Adam
You’re awesome! Keep up the great work! I know care guides don’t always do good but I hope this one does! I’m trying to do a lot of research on red eyed crocodile skinks before I plan to get one in November. If you have any tips or recommendations that would be appreciated! Also how do you keep live insects at home? Or do you just buy them same day each time?
Thanks I learned some stuff from this.
Glad it was helpful!
A crestie is gonna be my next creature! I love them they're so smooth and cute. I already have 2 corn snakes and I am already slowly growing my collection
ive wanted one for like 9 years and im finally getting one ty for this
Great information.
Glad you think so!
Once again thank you good sir. ❤
Great vid
thanks
Awesome guide, would love to see one with Gargoyle Geckos in the future as while they are very similar looking (and have similar care!) they are not the same and have some variances in what they prefer. Most notably I've seen a lot of conflicting information from the varying sources out there and many are a bit older so it's difficult to know what's really for the best for them. I do know they're a bit hardier than cresties in general so I've seem some more ranges in there as well but even then I see some folks suggest 50% humidity and others 70% and different temperature gradients too.
And they don't lose their tails!!
Just got a Crested gecko and this was thee video I needed. Tyvm bro🙏🏽
.
I never get tired of New Caledonia gecko videos. I also use UVB on my gargoyle gecko, but only on the days he is sleeping on his wall. He also enjoys Pangea Fig & Insect and grub Pie,which I mix with it.
Got my first normal morph crested gecko back in January of this year. Eats live bugs like a champ and has been growing big. I’m also even considering setting up a dubia roach colony.
love to see it!
You are my favorite CZcamsr great video
Thank you so much 😀
Love my cresteds crazy I got started in reptiles with a lot of what would be referred to as advanced species and then I found these guys and I like em better
I was just binging your reptile and crested gecko videos since a reptile convention is coming up… maybe this is a sign
I love this Geckos💚🦎
I was on the fence about getting a crested gecko. I have an extra tall enclosure that has been empty forever. And I have been researching them for months now.
I saw your older video on cheapest animals and saw them there and came here since I trust a lot of your judgement and how you care for your replies!! I have ball pythons, corn snakes, dumpy frogs and a jumping spider.
This pretty much made my choice easy. Thank you :)
so easy to care for and cute
Awe chicken the gecko Is so beautiful, I hope you have an awesome Day. Great vlog today
Thanks so much
Yay nice video!!! Been thinking of getting a crestie once i get a job so i can afford it
I love cresties!! I have 3 and would like to add a couple more down the road.
they are so cute!
I was waiting for you to drop a more current video on cresteds. Still haven't set up my terrarium LOL. But my son would enjoy this video. If i get the kids behind me maybe ill set one up for xmas. Already have tank/stand lol
hope you enjoy!
Chicken's awesome. Cool checkered back.
absolutely!
love your channel soo soo muchh, scared ima run out of vids to watchh
I really appreciate you!
PLEASE please do an updated care guide on pacman frogs its so hard to fine any good ones on youtube that are update and easy to follow 😊
I have a crestie he/she is around 1 year old now and its so interesting how weirdly soft they are!
Getting my first Gargoyle Geckos
Should totally do a care guide on Gargs
You’re my favorite reptile CZcamsr ever
I like how you also show celsius.
The timing is like always immaculate. I JUST decided that my first reptile is gonna be a crested gecko and was about to do more research!!
I love to see it!
I do this a lot sorry I'm commenting again! Lol I honestly cannot wait to have cresteds again because feeding them looks so much easier now than 10 years ago.... .. wait... 15 years ago..
Jezzzzzzzzuz im old.
thanks so much for commenting!
Perfect, my daughter just got a crested gecko at the Super Reptile Show in Pomona this weekend 🤙
I hope this helps
I've had veiled chameleons, so caring for one of these little guys sounds like a breeze. I might have to check them out.
Hello…my son is 9 and is going to be 10 in a month and has found a love for Crested Geckos! I’m planning on surprising him with that on his birthday. The question I have for you, can you co-habitate 2 baby hatchlings for about 6 months? My son and I love your channel…and all its content! Thank you 🙏 The Surbella Family
I do not have any plans to buy a crested gecko, but I can say that their gargoyle looks has always been interesting to me. 🐉
I love these geckos I have 5 adults and 7 babies/sun adults I bred. Their so cute 🥰
You are the best CZcams ever i can't wait to see you at the animal con on September 15 have a super day have a great day have a nice day Wicked wickens reptile
Those little toes! Such cute little guys 💕
Love crested geckos! They have such a variety of personalities and colors. One of my boys will slide his way off my hand and hang by his tail while reaching for whatever he thinks he's going to land on.
From what I've seen and read through, it's not recommended to keep multiple together, especially not males. Definitely increase the enclosure size and number of hiding spots, and monitor for signs of fighting/stress if you go that route. Be prepared to separate permanently if worst comes to worst.
Some crested geckos seem especially interested in attacking other lizards, others are more avoidant, and you never know what you're going to get.
My crested gecko Spyro, bit my dad when we first got him. He was a bit scared of him , but now he’s such a cutie and he is a total goofball sometimes. My first crested gecko sadly passed away due to a fungal infection and he died right in front of me and I was so heartbroken. Right now Spyro is still in my parents house as I actually need an emotional support animal letter in order to keep him in my apartment as my apartment has a no pets policy that includes no small animals as well.
I miss him so much and my parents have to take care of him for me because of this situation.
i have 3 of these babies!! my favorite animal ❤
Mine too! I have 10 (I have a tendency to over do it when it comes to my interests and hobbies, I blame my ADD).
Awesome video!!! Now...
We need Skink (Schneider, Fire) and Burmese Python Care guide and how to do an enclosure... PLEASEEEEEEEEE...!
I got a crestie as an emergency rehome 2 months ago and he’s so incredible and easy to take care of
would you say 18x12x12 inches is too small?
Is it 18" high or wide?
With Cresties you want typically a 12x12x18 for a juvenile and a 18x18x24 for a full grown adult.@@prodbyjm248
@@prodbyjm248 I believe 18x18x24 is the recommended minimum size for an adult. I have 2 who are adults now that are still in a 12x12x18 and I think both are perfectly happy, but I do plan to upgrade as soon as I find the enclosure I am looking for.
@@prodbyjm248I would recommend at least 18x18x24 but I have a juvenile in a 12x12x18 and he’s fine
Just bought a 2x2x2 ft for my boy, he just turned 6 so i figured he deserved an upgrade
I have 3 crested geckos and they are so cute and funny
I talked to my mom and after showing her this video she said I can get one for my birthday 🥳
They are my favorite out of my animals
today's my birthday and for the past few years i've been wanting a chameleon or bearded dragon, and my mom and gparents decided to get me one! long story short, the tank i was gifted was too small for either, plus i haven't had an exotic pet before and chameleons are really delicate meaning they cost more to take care of in terms of healthcare. i was told to actually go for the crested gecko as they're great for beginners and oh my goddd i immediately fell in love with it when i saw it, it's a hatchling so idk if it's a boy or girl but its name is opal and i'm such a happy lizard mom!
i may be a bit too late for a reply but I got a baby crested gecko a month ago and he's so cute
We have a Leo and kiddo thinks I should get a crested gecko. We now have two toads as well. I am the queen of taking care of the feeders. Don’t need another one to feed. But they are so cute!
Almost at 300k
getting closer
Our crested gecko hates bugs. The store insisted that he was eating extremely small crickets. We have tried and he won’t. On the flip side he hasn’t rejected any of the mix flavors even the grub one.
I have 10 cresties and one of mine doesn't care for crickets either. He too is an excellent eater of the CGD. He eats at least twice as much as my insect eaters. I give crickets twice a week.
Try Dubia roaches. Mine lives them.
i have a i think almost 7 ft glass display case. I used it for hot wheels. but with some modifications. i think it will be the perfect encloser for a crested gecko
that would be awesome!
Just got my first crestie! A 3 month old baby from a local hobbyist ive named Biscotti
Hi adam! Can u consider making a updated version of the hognose care guide? Ill love it.
we made on less than a year ago :)
@@WickensWickedReptiles oh wow thats amazing i thought the last one was 4 years ago, tysm! Ill watch ut right now
Hmm I cant seem to find it, could you maby link it or tell me the name?
I just made a video like this a few months ago let’s gooooo 👍🏻👍🏻
Cool!
looking to get another crestie or get a gargoyle at the reptile show in ontario in october!
I got a crested gecko about three years ago (he'll be four in September,). Sadly I didn't realize I was supposed to be using a heat source...but plan to get one asap. For the ceramic heat emitter, what wattage should I use (seems like 60w and 100w are what I see)? It will be on top of a hexagonal terrarium that is 19"x17"x23" (lwh)? Thankfully he seems to be doing well. Didn't grow much for the first two years I had him but has hit a huge growth spurt in the past six months. Thank you for your help and keep up the incredible work you do!!!
😊❤
Chicken is so cute
Just recommended your video to a person I gave a baby to! Thanks!!!
I ❤ chicken!
(I WISH I could have one, but our house just gets too hot in the summer for one.)
What voltage lamp do you recommend
My dream came true❤
absolutely
I found out after getting my first crested gecko, Tapioca, that I have an allergic reaction to the tiny claws. I get red welts, and it's super itchy. But it was too late. I was in love! Now I have Tokoloshe, a male, and plan to get more. I just wear long sleeve shirts when I handle them 😅
Sorry to hear that
@@WickensWickedReptiles it's the strangest thing, but you do what you have to enjoy what you love! 😁
Im literally getting a cresties Thursday 🎉😂
Love this one bye the way and if you can ship to the States I would love one
Quick question... What did you blend together with the top soil and sand? I missed it.
Awesome video! What morphs are the red cresties in the enclosure you filmed?
I'm literaly waching whit my.
I got it because you so thanx you soooooo much❤❤😂
Enjoy it
I currently have a panther chameleon and my cage csme damaged so chewy is sending me a brand new reptibreeze xl cage so im planning on modifying it into a adequate enclosure for a crestie
May or may not be taking in my friends crested gecko so if I do I’m trying to do down research along with what ever care tips and instructions they have to give me cause if I do take them in I wanna be a good gecko parent
What are the crescent gecko cages you use that are the 18 x 18 x 20
