This is one of those rare adaptations that they hit out of the park.
Its because the creators of the games were deeply involved in the production process for this one.
Same thing for TLOU show and that also turned out great!

@@singami465 The taking of New Vegas and the show is 10 years, there is really no way to document the hole world on-camera in a span of 8 episodes. Idk what lore changes you're talking about either.
For me, the show didnt miss the tone of fallout, but it didnt nail the tone of fallout.
And its no suprise that a egotistical, arrogant, asshole whos a bos knight would say sum like that.
Great episode with some powerful acting by Ella Purnell, whose revelation about Lucy's father was just heartbreaking and great acting by Walton Goggins, who gives the quintessential "Fallout" line of all.
This is the episode that Amazon should give as "For your consideration" Come award time, especially for Purnell and Goggins, whose performances make this series as great as it is.
Unfortunately, a lot of the gravitas is only there because of the previous developments. I think it won't hit quite as hard for someone that doesn't know the mythology.
@@Alacritous You don't need to know the mythology to understand the developments of episode 8. You just have to had seen the previous 7 episodes. The great acting, especially by Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins plus the storytelling brings the gravitas.

I didnt realize the ghoul was STILL wearing the costume from 2077! Its so subtle and beautifully done with the added pieces and decay. Gods i love this show, the details. It shows when people love the game and the material.
I read before that they used The Good, The Bad and the Ugly as inspiration but I didn't realize it also influenced their camera angles for the final episode. That was a nice touch.

Walton Goggins was absolutely amazing in this show. So was Ella. Aaron was good as well. Such a perfectly cast show. I also love how positively Walton talks about the line "War. War never changes...". He's not a gamer, but he has that respect for the original material.
I love how he talked about how he didn't know it's history, and still thought it was one of the best little lines he'd ever read. He mistakenly thought it was the original writers and is now wasn't afraid to immediately joke "turns out they get NO CREDIT for that" 😂
Goggins is amazing in anything he does. He was the best villain I’ve ever seen in justified. One you want to root for and can see is evil.

Aaron Moten is a new face to me, i find his way of speaking and his mannerisms, both as himself and as an actor, really engaging. Just extremely expressive and unique without being as sort of energetic or hyperbolic as that might sound. A very steady, smooth delivery that just holds you for some reason, even in scenes where hes under duress he seems to have both more calm and more going on in his mind.
And he looks like a young Morgan Freeman! :P

Ron Perlman said the "War never changes" line in the games. It'd be cool to see him in the show at some point.
That would be great. I wouldn't mind them getting Liam Neeson as well just because he'll always be my Fallout 3 dad.
Throughout the show I was wondering if/when Ron Perlman would show up with that notorious phrase. It's my biggest complaint, but it's such a good show that it doesn't really bug me.
Let's hope the showrunners read the numerous inquiries about Ron Perlman and our desire to have him be a part of the show. I'm sure they could find something in New Vegas.
It would also be super cool to have a side character cameo of Tim Cain! I think he’d definitely be down to be apart of it as well and it would be a beautiful homage to the original creators of the series

Huge fan of Aaron’s portrayal of Maximus. The way he talks about his character, his cast mates, the production. You can tell he loves this. Can’t wait for season 2!❤

season 1 really allowed me to reconnect with my dad, all the 50s music and all that, with him being an old man, brought back a lot of memories he had that he never told me until we watched the show

All of the actors in this show are amazing! I was astounded at the acting,storytelling,and cinematography. They distracted me so expertly from the the main plot that I didn’t think about predictions like I normally would. Great show! Please take your time making the next season. It’s worth doing right and it’ll be worth the wait.
I remember finding out that a Fallout TV show was actually going to happen and being happy and nervous. I am very heavily invested in The Fallout universe. I have so much Fallout merchandise on bookshelves and walls. I have all the video games, most of the collectors editions, cards, posters, funko pop figures, I have 5 pipboys, I have watched hours and hours of lore videos on youtube. This is my favorite gaming universe hands down. I love it. So many people were talking shit before it even came out. Saying it was going to be this and that and a bunch of other nonsense. They fucking killed it. There were a couple parts i thought could have been done differently, but over all they nailed it. They nailed the vibe of Fallout perfectly. The sense of humor and the bleakness of it all. It was so good. I cant wait for season 2. I want them to take their time and get it right, but im here for it. We need a spin off that goes over the supernatural aspect of Fallout. That would be sick. There are so many stories to tell.
Anybody who has actually played the game knows that Maximus is maxed out on the "Idiot Savant" Perk.
He goes from almost being executed by the Brotherhood TWICE to then become a Knight in the end 🤣
The Whopper City ending made me hang on a thread throughout the series, but it paid off for sure when I watched the episode. Made me so happy as a fan of the games and as a filmmaker.
This show was so fantastic, one of my favourites already. So cool to hear more behind the scenes aspects and I can't wait to watch season 2!!!
The season finale did a good job of dialing down the campiness. I know Bethesda pitches Fallout as "the funnest and goofiest Post-apocalypse in the Post-Apocalyptic genre", but the original Fallout WAS very dark and serious, and the finale did a good job of bringing the TRUE Fallout vibe to the screen.
I'm happy they found a nice balance between the fun, ludicrous, and campy elements from more recent games, while also gobsmacking the audience with some grimdark sci-fi/apocalypse and horror elements inherent in the early games. But I will also say, the sort of campy, pulpy, Soylent Green/1950s b-movie horror/scifi aspects of Fallout as an IP is what makes it my favorite, fictional post-apocalyptic world. Take away the dry, dark humor, bizarre scifi undertones, and camp, and you're left with just another dark, dreary post-apocalyptic entry from Hollywood.
That's what makes Fallout an outstanding piece of the post-apocalyptic fiction puzzle - it can do both.

@@FrogVoid1 the first game was about a cyborg computer that kidnaps people and turns them into monsters for its ubermensch army, and the protagonist has a limited amount of time to beat the game, otherwise their vault's residents die. After succeeding, they are also exiled from that same vault, with an opportunity to kill the overseer in a game that pioneered 2D gore.

The good thing about stacking is that everyone is at least potentially unreliable as narrators. There's some stuff we've been told that characters believe but that I'm pretty sure isn't true. But we the audience get multiple lines of evidence leading to the same conclusion here so these events don't need to be things we're questioning. We can be confident of this.
Mr House is my absolute favorite character in ALL of fallout. Someone who has plans running in the century possibly even millennium tally

Michael Dorn may be getting up there in years, but it would be fantastic to see him as the super mutant Marcus in S2, even if it was just a cameo.

Kudos to the cast for all of them knocking it out of the park but gotta give credit to the showrunners for doing a video game adaptation right. I don't know if they are fans of the games or listened to fans but they definitely did the games justice with the show.
There's an interview where they were asked this question, Graham played the originals back in the 90s and Geneva played Bethesda Fallouts when she learned they are going to make this show.

Well, one of the four possible endings to New Vegas was helping House take over the Mojave. House is such an interesting character, that I'm not surprised the writers of the show would want to make the House ending canon.

This is an absolute masterclass in making a scene (actually, the whole show). There are so, so many actors, directors and screenwriters that need to dissect this scene and show. Then, maybe, we as the audience will get the sort of entertainment we are dying for.
My favorite character is Maximus. I am so interested to see a violent cult in the hands of someone with a conscience. Or how much of that conscience he will be able to show or exert influence on behalf of.
The Brotherhood often gravitates toward the darkest parts of humanity's endless "might makes right" attitude toward ruling itself. Good luck, Maximus!
I hope fallout gets a award for how great the show is. But I think Mister Walton Goggins should get a award too. I love how he starts as this very kind and respectful character Cooper Howard and really feel so bad for him what happens. I think Mister Walton Goggins his acting is top notch and a lot of respect what he endured during playing the ghoul in the heat and still delivering such a brilliant character. He is so humble about it and that is so amazing to.

You know where i expect him to cameo? When and if we get more flashbacks or background about the guy sitting in the shadows above the council that Coup's wife looks up to. The strings puller the guy behind the wheel Coup mentions in the end. Can you imagine him shown talking to someone and saying the "War never changes" line?

I played Fallout 2 for the first time in 1998, I was twelve. Stayed up until 6am the first night. By far my personal favourite video game franchise of all time. I had extremely high expectations of this show, thankfully the team absolutely nailed it. So much great world building, so much potential for Fallout in the future. Great work by them all

Rewatching the series, certain scenes hit different. Like when Lucy says she could never look her father in the eye if she doomed an entire community just to help herself. Or the Vault-Tec ad shoot where Cooper asks if the suits really block radiation.

Well, I think Walton Coggins is cool as shit. Never played the game and felt that kind of made watching the show was pointless. Then I saw Walton (who paired with Timothy Olyphant in Justified was brilliant) interviewed about Fallout and had a change of heart. Instantly hooked. This was a nice inside look.

Walton Goggins has made this show an Instant Classic!!!! Cooper Howard (The OG Ghoul) created so much depth in the show. Ella Purnell's character was so fun, and wasn't so much "Girl Boss", like in most shows, nowadays, seeking the Woke standard. She was just a woman on such a tough journey, and Coop was so vital in her race to find her father! Their journeys merged into an epic Quest!

I’ve loved Walton Goggins for years! It’s so cool to see him finding his groove and getting the recognition he deserves!
They really nailed it with putting all the whoppers together. Fallout is such an everything burger of a setting - it can feel thin when there's so much dark humor and just plain ridiculousness, but it's underscored in every iteration by some absolute gut-punch dramatic plot twists that make the world feel real when they hit and feel exactly like The Ghoul, Lucy, and Maximus in this scene. Like the world, in its absurdity, brutality, and ridiculousness, wakes you up to its reality of being this absolutely tragic story of humanity. That's what they captured by having all the whoppers in one scene, it's the fundamental message of Fallout. Spread those moments out and they start to lose meaning. What a brilliant alchemy they discovered for this show - the writers, producers, directors, setting, actors, costume designers, VFX, the AR wall - just everything and everyone came together to create a masterpiece of a show and goddamn I can't wait to see what they come up with next

When I watched the trailer it already looked so good, but I sadly just don’t go into a new show or movie with expectations, especially if it’s a game adaptation(i feel very sorry for all the Halo fans😢)
But it wasn’t hard to see that all the people who worked on the project put so much passion and care into making this show, everything was on point.
And learning that the set from the last episode was as much practical as possible made me almost as excited as every time the ghoul got to be a badass.
I really don’t like to watch something that looks like it was all done in a studio and a colored screen because I hate being able to see that a movie was made with cgi, I hate it with a passion 🤣
And I really like every character but Walton as the ghoul……, does he really heef have to be so charismatic?

Seeing Walton Goggins play the Ghoul makes me want to see him play a star wars character. Maybe a another Bounty Hunter or Smuggler or some type of underground crime. He has good comedy chops. And star wars hasnt really had a main character with a sense of humor. Someone with a sense of humor like Han Solo except a little bit more comedic and dark humour.
