  • Riker may be losing his mind, but that's a common side effect of being in one of Beverly's plays.

    There was a missed opportunity for Riker's reality to shatter in triangles only for Wil Wheaton to suddenly appear and explain the awesome effects possible with the Video Toaster 4000.

      This is legit one of my favorite episodes of TNG. I always think it's funny when riker says "but I shot myself with the phaser, so I should be DEAD." lol he jus says "dead" really weirdly.

      It seems that each character has to get tortured by being trapped in an artificial reality, Remember Me, Parallels, Future Imperfect, Frame of Mind.

    Really an overall fun episode watching Frakes enjoying ham acting the insanity.

  • @DissociatedWomenIncorporated

    16 _is_ the highest phaser setting, but yes, according to the lore it’s basically able to blow up buildings, or vaporise giant holes in mountains. Though it exhausts the battery of a handheld phaser quickly. The big two handed, rifle versions they sometimes use aren’t even any more powerful… they just have a much bigger battery and some fancy targeting systems. And occasionally, secondary use as a bludgeoning weapon!

    This episode creeped me out. I didn’t know what to think of what was happening which I guess is a good thing. It gave me abduction vibes from the start. I found the lack of ending confrontation unsettling.

    I too sometimes think my waking life is a fever dream waiting to be shattered by a 1990's slide show transition effect. Though, when the nightmare ends, I hope I'll have more of Reverse Angle's Star Trek reviews to watch. Even if they're all in my head. Thanks, guys.

    I really loved this episode. While not perfect and as you guys stated its not really doing anything that hasn’t been done before. It all works and plays out very well. It keeps you engaged. For a few moments, I thought it was all going to be revealed at the end as a play and we the audience were being taken for a ride. This one Kept me on your toes.

    Watching this episode, there was a significant portion of me rooting for Riker to be actually crazy. The implication of course being that the previous 5 plus seasons of TNG were ALL the delusions of a man in an extraterrestrial insane asylum.

    Good review as always. Nicely detailed. I, unfortunately, don't like these crazy/miss-direct episodes, however, this one was done well. Good point on it being a bit too long. C+ for me. Mainly, because I don't care for these types of episodes.

    Given the outrageous shit that they put up with every week, I'm surprised it took 6 seasons for Riker to go berserk. All that alien sexing can only keep your sanity for so long

  • @ondrejnovotny3273
    @ondrejnovotny3273 Před 2 lety +1

    If this episode is a B for you guys then I have a feeling you will not give an A anymore... Maybe just to All Good Things but somehow it feels you are bit too critical and won't go that high again even if there are some pretty good episodes in season 6, this one being one of them.
