Well I had been playing around with virtual backgrounds before and didn't know they saved. All of my bosses saw little ol' me in a submarine. Coulda been worse I guess lol
I was on a Zoom class session with my university professor. Her computer went idle, and she thought it died. She then proceeded to say “shxx it died. Fxxx fxxx fxxx” the f bomb was used at least 6 times LOL we all love her so much that we couldn’t muster the courage to tell her we heard. My most memorable moment from my master’s program! “Graduating” the 16th 😁

Zoom story, as requested: I was in a uni zoom tutorial, on camera, my brother came hone from the beach (do not shoot me, these were 1) early days of lockdown in aus, and 2) I can verify the beach was EMPTY). Mid-class, he comes into my room to tell me he’s back. My mic is muted, so I explain and gesture to the camera that I’m in class, thinking my professor can’t see me amidst the 26 other students on-camera. Instead of leaving, he decides to look closer at what’s happening. He stands behind me for a while, we’re both watching the screen. Then it dawns on me what is happening: a shirtless, towel-wrapped man is standing in the background. The lecturer says “oh, a naked man!” and I just about die. Saying “sorry, that’s my brother” didn’t help. “He’s not naked” wasn’t helpful either. I eventually spat out “he was at the beach”. But it was too late. Dignity gone. I had to sit through another hour of class in shame.
Georgina Noack lol don’t feel too bad. Embarrassing zoom experiences happen to the best of us 😂. I was in a zoom meeting with a judge and a few other people. Everyone on camera is supposed to be dressed professionally lol. The judge was supposed to just call in and didn’t want to be seen on camera. So the meeting is going well and were almost just about done. All of a sudden the judges camera comes on by accident. Lol he had crazy bed hair. Was lying in bed and had the loudest pajamas on you could imagine. And the look of shock on his face was priceless 😂 especially since he couldn’t figure out how to turn his camera off for about 30 seconds
This is awesome! I had watched another video about Zoom meetings back in March that really helped. Pretty much all the same tips you shared about lighting made a huge difference for me. I walked around with my iPhone to find the best window light, and then used my little office lamps too. Worked amazing and even got a compliment on the lighting! The only other tip that really helped me was to make sure the camera it set up at eye level. Definitely not sitting in your lap. You just get a giant double chin and everyone can see up your nose.
