  • We’ve been waiting for global shutter cameras for years, and Sony clearly felt that the time was finally right. It was a wise calculation - the A9 III is far better than we expected for a first-gen product. It offers mind-blowing speeds and incredible video capabilities, with a small cost in image quality, especially for its intended market.

    I have been having a ton of fun with the A9iii and the Sony 11mm f/1.8. This camera is a joy to use, and it's incredibly freeing to use off-camera flash in Aperture-Priority mode and finally be able to let the shutter speed float. Using this camera makes me feel like a kid again. ^_^

    What aspect ratio do you shoot in? Thank you.

    2:52 "Compressed raw bursts can be shot at an incredible 120fps with AF and AE" => actually, uncompressed as well.

    Film cameras also suffer from shutter distortion for the same reasons as a rolling shutter on a digital camera. - different shutter settings have a maximum panning speed.

    The design is very human.

    So they’ve achieved with CMOS what CCD could do , but for 1/10th the price and only took 20 years .🤔

      CCD cameras used mechanical rolling shutters.

      While CCD does indeed take picture globally, it needs to read the data from up to bottom before it can take another picture, while CMOS can take another picture while previous data is being read

      I don't recall a CCD camera being able to shoot 120 FPS, refresh my memory.

    I fail to see the relevance or importance of using a faster shutter speed for most traditional still photographers. While it may be advantageous for wildlife photographers, solely relying on equipment to capture great wildlife shots diminishes the skill and artistry required for this type of photography. If everyone can simply buy the equipment to capture these moments, it undermines the special and unique aspect of wildlife photography... If everyone is special, then no one is.

    Its a pure sports camera, its too compromised for anything else. It'll be interesting where the tech goes though.

      I should caveat that, wildlife photographers wont accept the loss in image quality and want resolution to enable cropping options. The A1 remains superior for wildlife.

      Not only sports! Just as other cameras can be used for sports the A9iii (which I own) is great at other forms of photography (portraits of constantly-moving kids, pets, fast-paced street photography, travel, badly-lit events (indoors or out), etc. It's also a great video camera! I'm about to take mine on a month-long trip to India. Will share pics/vids!

    I am returning mine after 5 days of use ! this camera is definitely not for flash photography/ studio ! first of all shutter speed goes at max at 16000 shutter speed at multiple mode shoot only. 80000 shutter speed is only in single mode shoot! color shits are all along those variable speeds you need to sync flash manually in order to shoot with variable shutter speed,and it's time consuming, and i suspect that its still not accurate and it might be the reason for power color shits strength light intensity inaccuracy .Another issue is the noise and Aperture change at values like f8 noise is so big and noticeable that it makes picture not usable bottom line its a real downer on photography side but videography is definitely a big high

    • @RyanREAX
      @RyanREAX Před 3 měsíci +1

      Downer for flash photography. Upper for action.. and video.. but a7s4 gonna get global shutter and less MP too for less noise!

      @Joyofvision99 Před 3 měsíci

      They are fixing that in a firmware release that should be out today. I would not return it for that reason.

    I shoot better photos on my X-T4 and I'm an amateur who often has either exposure or iso up too high and even then my pictures are less noisy than every single shot I saw in this video. That global shutter needs to communicate better with settings or perhaps the settings need to be re-tuned before shipping
