Hello Harper Stacey. Yes I must confess i am totally addicted to these Old radio programs.
I listen to many channels. However I have only really joined two live chat rooms with any consistency. SoS being the most recent.
On top of having a very friendly listenership. SoS has (in my opinion) the absolute BEST sound transfer quality. Evidence of the time and expertise our host has put into each block of programming is amazing when contrasting to other channels.
Thank you so much for saying hello! I want to encourage you to like and subscribe! Join the chat. You will be warmly welcomed by all. Blessings!

"New Year's Nightmare" justly received TWO Pokey awards, for 1947 and 1948. The Hokey Foundation, which makes the award for outstanding schlock, acted without precedent and its committee later determined its action would not be repeated. Having put one hand in and pulled the same hand out, many critics are ambivalent about the prize committee. They say the issue is not the prize but that declining standards led them to give the Hokey Pokey and then turn themselves around, that that's what it's all about.

Didn't one of the other ones have the same story as the one here where the guy is trying to raise $1,500 for his wife's surgery? I know I've heard it before.

Yeah, it’s basically the same story as Death Laughs Last from Vol. 1.2 (7). It was also used on the show The Sealed Book 🦇🙂

Sometimes it the specific channel and sometimes it is a generic name for any "old" time radio show, i.e., 30s to 50s, maybe into the 60s-80s in the case of CBS Mystery Theater.
