This is ALOT harder then Jeff makes it look. Superb skill. Those pipes are artwork.
If it was me welding there in first 5 seconds "CAN YOU BRING A NEW PIPE THIS ONE IS GONE"
A lil grinder with sanding disc should do it 😂
This guy is a welding genius, great workmanship young man.
My version of welding is fire up the big diesel arc welder, grab a random ass rod that i have no idea whats in it, try to weld if it sticks i turn the dial thingy up and if it burns through i turn the the dial thingy down. Just goes to show you how much there is too this stuff.
Awesome video!! Jeff really knows his stuff and described his work well. Cool to see all the high end cars.
INCREDIBLE ! and very talented welder , way to go man !
This guy is artist and craftsman. Fantastic work is an understatement.
Homy got talent👌👍
@John Chrysostom . go learn it then
Nice to see you guys out of the school house. Please keep these practical application videos coming! Maybe some rollcage work to FIA specs? Nice work and great demonstration Jeff.
I second this. Would love to see this applied in Motorsports.
Love watching a craftsman at work.
That Harley exhaust is absolutely beautiful.
I still weld aircraft exhaust now and then but this is a world beyond.
Nice job👍
Purging... interesting to know. Thanks for posting.
Stunning work, a Tradesman at his job
oh man, that's just beautiful...
Really nice work, Jeff!
Wow just wow!!!
who would down vote this, someone that prefers riveting?
13 idiots in fact
The dislikes are just dudes who can't work a TIG torch 🤘
Fuck this comment was good 😂
probably someone who only mig welds
😂🤣
Great welding Thanks
very cool, have welded lots of process piping myself but never had a chance to have a stab at titanium
Serious skill for such a young guy!
Beautiful beautiful welding 💥💥💥💪🏾😜
Brings back memories of my welding tritium at the plant ,not that thin) 1/4 ins.and thicker .have a good week.
You mean titanium because if you were welding tritium there would be any memories or person to talk about it tritium is a radioactive isotope
@@shaynegadsden sorry with my spelling ,was not paying attention just punching away on keyboard.
That was awesome
BEAUTIFUL WORK !
Mando
Hes really good:)Art with skills.
Well done (weld done😂)
Amazing work🤙
Good one!!!
Wow, that's cool. That's cool.😀👍
Great demonstration and narrative
Thanks Robert.
Awesome 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Thats talent right there
I love welding Ti. By far the most satisfying material to weld and when you have your setup correct it's easier to weld than stainless in my opinion. Flows so nice.
With that said it's "the" material (along with Inconel) that sets the men apart from the boys cuz you gotta fabricate that shit before you can weld it.
Awesome!
So awesome
Love it!
Great video! I would definitely love to see more exotic alloys. Inconel preferably. Keep doing what you're doing.
cunifer
Good video thanks.
What grade of titanium do you use for the bike exhausts? I’ve seen people use grade2 but isn’t very good close to the engine(if it’s on a car) as it’s really only good for up to 450•c?
That's badass
I've been wanting to do this since around 2010 when I started taking welding classes. I want to build a turbo set for a flathead ford.
Love it - aspirations
When tig welding Titanium I have heard to shield the weld until its cooler than 600-800F. Exhausts can reach 1200F. Why is it that they aren't damaged at that temperature? Also why is there no issue with heating titanium until it changes colors but welds are rejected if not silver or straw?
That’s my bike we just did twin turbos on it now!!
I wish I could find a 2 into 1 reverse megaphone exhaust system for my 06 Kawi Meanstreak.
I would love a high end exhaust for my 2018 Camaro SS.This is a legitimate company with a quality product. I love this type of content. Thanks ✊
Big D so, you’d blow what, 6-7 grand to gain maybe 10 horse ? There’s no benefit to having a Ti exhaust except a small weight savings.
ROTAXD all about preference at that point
The exhaust would cost more than the Bow whine Scumaro
what is the arc length? that looks close af even for low amps like that.
so nice
Impressive... Ima try a lil less power now, i ussuly go around 40a for 1mm pipe
Impressive! It would be cool to have a TITANIUM EXHAUST system on my custom Chevy SS Sedan. Not sure how it would hold up to road vibration, but I like the idea of reduced weight and thinner stock.
Cool
It's a very slow and steady weld process on that material. Patience!
Art is not a crime.
I sure would like to learn how to weld titanium with my everlast tig welder. That sure is impressive.
TiCon has starter packs if you want to learn: www.ticonindustries.com/collections/titanium-giveaway/products/ticon-titanium-welding-sample-pack
What type of welding mask do you use? Or what would you recommend. I'm currently using 3m speedglass 9100 but want to change.
I have the 9100XX, Whats wrong with the helmet? Theyre top tier helmets
@@ernestocastellanos6446 I like them dont get me wrong. But I want something that looks sick skulls with or something
Why are some titanium exhaust welded? While other titanium exhaust bent? Is there a difference?
no shots of the inside of the welds?
Wow this man can weld awesome.
That man is stoned 🤣 😂
Bad ass
how welds look inside
👍
How much do people welding stuff like this make?
What kind of miller machine is that?
what torch was he running? looks like the neck was solid but the handle would flex?look at 5:20
Ck worldwide probably a 17 style torch with a flexible head
Pro star modular water cooled torch
00:13 was that SLC Superlite ?
Beautiful work there, but why is everyone Tig Welding without sleeves 🤔
nice ti welding , has any one here welded 13-8 mo, ams 5840 stainless steel? having hell of a time on welding aircraft exhaust nozzles, the skin is 0.016 thick.
Работа мечта
I TIG at work on 300 amp I make car wash vacuum cleaners. This is cool to see Don’t care much for expensive cars
Can I get one for my gt500?
Can we get a pic of that chart!?
Jeff is fuckin gettin it
28 amps at what frequency?
What are the settings?
How do you know what grade of filler rod to use?
David, there are charts to match base material with the correct filler, same with stainless, aluminum, steel, etc...no secrets here ;-)
If you want more in-depth info on titanium, go check out Unobtainium Welding channel
If you are ever unsure what grade youre working with you can use commercially pure filler
why don t weld that y pipe , separetly?
I wouldn't even want to ask what that hedder costs ... lol Nice . :)
Welding is harder than college calculus.
Zack TheBongRipper, that’s all relative. I know a bunch of welders than can’t do calculus and calc students who can’t weld. I’ll take welding over calculus any day!
This guy sounds like a real bong ripper....
Not being an ass but it looks undercut is some places, won't that make a thin spot that cracks easier in the heat and cooling of exhaust temps? Just sayin
My first thought, he wasn't adding filler at what most would consider a normal fill rate, could be he is wanting to ensure penetration and also wanting a flat weld. If we could have seen inside I'm guess he had 100%, which would be a very strong weld as long as he had a good purge.
I really want to weld some titanium.
Check out the starter pack @ TiCon Industries: www.ticonindustries.com/collections/titanium-giveaway/products/ticon-titanium-welding-sample-pack
What is the tape called that is being used to mock up the pipe?
Yellow tape
Holy fuck at the cars in this shop
I'm surprised the merge collector wasn't welded first with the rest of the joints taped off. He's sucking lots of air. And after that weld the tube fusion with correct purge. No sunk welds or introduced contaminants. His welds sunk because he didn't have enough back pressure on the purge.
matt vorhees this having been the first one I’d done i know where to improve from having done it the first time as well as I was on a time crunch with the bike that I was using to mock the system up on. I usually do such things as welding the collectors and tips and flanges all out before assembly.
@@jeffray9049 gotcha.
@@jeffray9049 if you plan building more headers in the future you might want to consider mounting your fixture to a roll out wheel. It makes it so much easier and saves a lot of time. You can spin your fixture or part 360.
Why not weld in an argon filled chamber?
What size filler rod?
Dale Cokley I usually use .045” but this was 1/16” wire
Charasteristiscts
The guy welds like a robot then makes one little mistake and people take the piss.
Just as he was saying it .I was reading this comment. Had to reread it to make sure it was spelled correctly.I went to confusion mode.
Wish they had said who the pipe itself was by??
Very nice welding job.
Hi Lee, I think he said the 2-1 was by themselves? using Ti from Ticon industries. They sell Ti piecuts and tube. They also sell trial packs of Ti for trying out Ti welding. They maybe bought all the piecuts and then mocked the system up on the bike but I'm guessing.
All tubing and fittings are supplied from ticon industries

@@jaquesdaniels2964 thank you. I thought it was a header company that was having this company make a new model for Harley's. I'm not sure why someone would spend this type of money on a pipe that hasn't been tested for flow, back pressure, sound.
I run all RBracing headers on my Harley's. These guys have hp down to a science 😏. I would love to see my Black-Hole pipe in this material for weight.
@@jeffray9049 thank you. But why would these guys spend this kind of money just to practice? Have they tested the pipe for hp, back pressure, sound? Any of that stuff.
The transfer of wire to puddle is some thing to see!
Just awesome compared to s/s.
Any good tig welder cad do fantastic welds on TI.
Was doing this 30 years ago in AUSSIE.
CP ENGINEERING in MELBOURNE are true experts!!!!
Hi, Please let me know which and what size tungsten are you using to weld 1mm titanium, cup size and argon flow cfh from torch?
Thanks,
Not a welder. What is purging?
Because titanium reacts with nitrogen in the air causing brittle titanium nitride at only 800 degrees you have fill the backside of the weld (inside the exhaust pipes) with argon too. So they vent the top, seal off the bottom, and push argon into the pipe (through the bottom), which pushes the air out. The push the air out and replace with argon is "purging".
Oh wow, they should call welders scientists if that's the kind of stuff they have to figure out lol
Cheers 🤙
He can weld for sure but did he have a stroke when he said “ different characteristics” 😂😂😂
this garage inside staying howmuch million
It looks like it is time for them to buy a mandrel bender.
1mm Ti! man that would be so light.
Nice skill, but only show ponies would chuck stuff up in a lathe so they could color the collector megaphone. Instead you should talk about the thermal conductivity of the allow and how stabile it is under extreme temps.
Good tip to watch when you exhale, i made it a habit to turn my head and exhale sideways. The first time you blow out your shielding gas you're like shit...
Who farted at 7:15?????lmfao
Is it possible to weld a titanium pipe that’s already been ran on a vehicle? Probably not right? Contaminated id imagine.
If you can sufficiently clean the area around where you need to weld it will weld. Ultrasonic cleaners work best
LIKE for "1mm thick"!
