Hey brother I just stumbled across your channel and thought I'd take a look. I love what I saw. I subbed to you and rang the notification bell. Great content.
Awwwh the coveted smooth bore flintlock in my case a .54 caliber smooooothie riffle. Soon I will know iffin I drawn a Turkey permit and pattern thy riffle fer July. As here in the Rockies there's only 3 seasons. July August and winter. It time for some fun Mountain man
Got my senior license down here and that includes all my deer and turkey tags so I'm good to go. Just need them rascally turkeys to come up the creek to the property I have permission to hunt.
@@TurkeyCreek-ek8mj I rode walked and yes drove couple too. I seen the Rockies north of Edmonton west across the great divide into British Columbia were as I took a hard turn left landing near the Mexico border. Spent over 30 years in the state of Wyoming mostly. It is true oh so true that home is missed. Especially now that I grow old and half blind stuck in the land of ye ol Gretchen WWWwhitler. I'm still building the sand to get back to at least the eastern slope to smell the snow pack coming into the valley floor. Till then I am working Ion my own channel so the experience and stories can long be told. Mountain man
Yep, we lived in the Bitterroot valley for a year where I packed horses and mules and guided elk hunters before moving to Buffalo Wyoming for 11 years where our son was born. My heart will always be in Old Wyoming!
@@TurkeyCreek-ek8mj for me this could go on far ever I have an ex in S Story at the end of my stay was in Moorcroft were I tried to have my youngest born in Sundance with deliveries are no longer. So she is a rabbit choker born in stab a trout(spearfish). My teepee was always on the move from the blacks fork to the sunlight basin. Born north in cour de lene
Hey Compadre, thanks for the comment. No, I don't treat it with anything and so far I've not had any problems with smoldering or burning. That isn't to say that it won't happen in the future, but I stay observant. Your mileage may vary of course. TC
In the movie "The Last of the Mohicans," Hawkeye mentions using silk in his gun. He said it burns hotter and shoots further than cotton. Have you had any experience with that? Great video! I'm recently into inline muzzleloaders and cap and ball pistols and you've got some great ideas! Thanks!
Hey Old Man, I remember that line quite well! "Silk; another 40 yards!" As for the accuracy of that claim, I haven't seen any historical record to either confirm or debunk that claim. As far as patch material for a round ball rifle, you don't really want it to burn, so a natural material like cotton or linen works the best. Silk may work very well or not. I've honestly never tried it. Patch thickness / ball diameter is supremely important for accuracy. I personally lube all my patch material with tallow as I fall into the "natural products only" in my guns, especially in the bore. I'm glad you enjoy my videos. TC
Actually in the movie, he used linen for patching not silk. I have used it for years. I find it slightly easier to load and also keeps the bore cleaner after the shot with less fouling. Linen has the atvantage of not burning the patch with heavier loads as cotton exhibits.

Great video! Do you treat your paper to keep it from burning or does it not catch fire?
