- Despite being the middle of winter we finally got the 18HoopT out for a drive. This is a high horsepower stock engine MK4 1.8T which has magically stayed together. Winter is definitely not ideal for thrashing on a 400+whp FWD car but we gave it a go.

The weather is actually pretty good here most winters as we're right on the water and snow doesn't hang around. However this past week sucked.

I had a mk4 337 on 23 psi and thought it was a badass lil rocket. This car is a whole different level, in many ways lmao.. Keep it up, i'm subscribing!!!

Just got in my Jetta today and had just as much fun as you guys did haha So crazy how different the driving is between my basically identical 17 Passat r line 1.8 vs my mk4 5 speed 1.8. To much fun!

Man I was telling a story just recently about this great industrial area I used to rip through on my way to work in my younger years out east. Fuck I swear this is it. Used to know all the potholes like the back of my hand. Lol Burnside on the dark side?? Used to drive a rotary then and spent my days looking out my side windows more than the front. Great times.
We're in a smaller business park close by. However a lot of "tuning" has gone on in that business park over the years. 😁

Passenger side rocker on my MK4 wagon is dented not once but twice. Not from improper jacking method. Even better. How you say? Ultiblows. They were free. I regret everything.
Side note. That ice storm you guys got? Lost my only key to the wagon shoveling out the Audi..then proceeded to split my thumb wide open trying to pop the hood to the wagon. I 🤬 hate winter dude lol

I knew it was a problem from being on the dyno, I just don't want to waste any time fixing it. Lol
I have the exact same problem with my linkage, i did a neutral reset and every gear would go in smoothly except first, then i do the neutral reset again and gears 1-5 will go in perfect except reverse won’t go in, so i purchased a shifter rebuild kit and really hope that fixes my problem
It's generally the cable ends, but can sometimes be the cables slipping inside themselves. Either way, this car is unlikely going to see me waste anytime fixing it. Lol
@@COMotorsports I have a Dieselgeek sigma 6 on my mk6 along with the super pin, first gear getter, ect.. but looking at their website they have the sigma 5 which will fit on that car. Best bang for the buck upgrade in my opinion, as far as modding a mk6 I would always say the best build path that is budget friendly is: Tires, sigma 6, intake, stage 1 tune (can upgrade in the future), catback.. after that point its onto a downpipe and stage 2 + swaybars and handling mods. I have nearly every bolt on possible, including subframe collars, all thats left is a new clutch, ko4 or other turbo upgrade, coilovers, porsche bbk, and a LSD. (the goal is a track/street car)
That car looks like it would be super fun do drive! can't go wrong with a short throw shifter, either.

The turbo kit can't be that much of a POS. We had zero issues with it on the dyno and its making great power. The car however is the real POS here. 😉

Including exhaust valves and rods on a budget build, with a eBay turbo. I know you wouldn’t recommend it but again I want it a budget build. Thanks

Only been following since the beginning of this series but love the channel so far. I have a a4 1.8t that's a fully built 1.9t with a stock aeb head and gt3071 with 1000cc and I make as much as this car am I getting ripped? I feel like I should be making more now?

On the topic of mk4s with fmic in the cold. My 03 GTI keeps icing up inside the intercooler ducting over the map sensor. Any ideas to stop this.

Open diff in the snow is so useless.
First upgrades i did on my car was suspension, brakes and a proper diff.
Power came last.
Smart move, my first move in VWs is generally a short shifter.

I’m trying to find a 1.8 motor worthy of building for my 04 gls 4motion passat, I’m definitely pushing my luck with the power I’m trying to get out of my stock AWM, but sourcing a healthy longblock is starting to become a headache. Would you risk pulling one from Kenny upull? it seems to be the easiest option but seems extra risky lol
Depends what you're plans are with it I guess. If you're building it, it really doesn't matter.
I'd like to say take it out in the dry but here in great of the 🇬🇧 it's always fucking winterso it's a tall ask to put it on the back burner be good to see what it's 100 - 200 is

What AFR are you running on E85? I guess I heard 0.82 in Lambda, but how much it is in Air to Fuel?
