  • We push the stock engine big turbo MK4 1.8T further than I had ever excepted. I believe now from our research this is the highest horsepower stock engine 1.8T...EVER! However we know the world is a big place and the 1.8T 20v has been around for over 20 years so If you know of any others who've made more we'd be to see the data, so please hit us up. ***Keep in mind this is an AWP engine with the smaller 19mm wristpin and small port head, stock intake manifold and throttle body. This is not the stronger 20mm, big port 1.8T.
What a ride this has been and it's clearly not finished yet.
For those just joining in we decided to piece together a turbo kit and test out just how much power we can make in this clapped out MK4 called 18HoopT. Entire playlist of how we got to this point is here • 1.8T Stock Engine Big ...

Hi... Good to see and now to know real figures on these engines. I've always been looking for real figures and always got mixed reviews on what people think it's capable of. I'm building a 1.8t but with a 2.0l tfsi crank and the works.
What I've noticed is that the boost comes on gradually to not create a spike in torque. Many people cannot overcome that problem and that is how rods stay inside the engine. Another thing to add is that there is a point where you can flaw it without worrying about Bending a rod because the engine is basically 200-450 rpms within its safe zone of boost plus you have lots of traction at that point so the vehicle can only move forward quickly without much wheel spin, that is why you don't see much mildly modified cars flawring it from a stand still because of the torque issue and therfore do a rolling run on the highway.
Thanks for the video much appreciated. Oh and if I'm wrong let me know.

Any chance of you testing the limits of a 12v vr?😁 what better platform to start with than the vr6 👍 or 🤔 there should be an engine build off with all vw tuners and all vw engines. @COMotorsports  Před 2 lety +1

The dyno replicates the road as it's a 3000lb drum. The difference would be the abuse the axles and trans would have on bumpy/inconsistent roads etc. Yes most definitely the engine is a ticking timebomb but the drivetrain is just as likely to fail at this point.

Parts available between many models and are pretty good for sharing across many platforms ex. Jetta, golf, beetle, seat,Audi etc...
