Liverpool are doing the same thing with Slot- he’s been hired as a head coach rather than a manager.

All this "Klopp and Pep are managers", they are not really any more managers the next guy. Klopp had nothing to do with transfers for many years while Edwards with SD, as seen by him refusing Salah and demanding Brandt but Edwards didn't listen and there you go, Salah made Klopp's career in many respects. Only recently since Edwards left has Klopp has had more power on recruitment because they didn't have SD, and we've seen the disaster that's been with Nunez, Gakpo, Endo and Szoboszlai.
Pep probably has little more power, but again, it's mostly Txiki that controls recruitment, as seen by Pep saying "we found this winger from France, Doku, that I'd never heard of, credit to Txiki and the scouting department".
At very best, the only thing a coach, manager, whatever should be doing is relaying a position and profile he requires to balance his squad based on the way he wants to play. In no way shape or form should he be demanding or even suggesting names. Do you really think Ancelotti walked in Perez office saying "bring me Arda Guler and Endrick"?

Chelsea will be back to mid table or finish worse than that next season under RDZ, McKenna and or Thomas Frank. The reason why that is, you can see from Poch season with Chelsea. In the first half of the season Poch seems to agree to just be the head coach of the team and slowly as the pressure grew, he wanted control over the market and begin to criticize the board for not providing him the right players for him to play in his system. After 'severing' his ties with the board, you can see that the team begins to play well again after Christmas. Players stand by him because Poch give them their trust and play for the manager instead of the board. So yeah, Chelsea unfortunately will struggle a lot more next season. Maybe Palmer can bail them out once in a while, but it will not be pretty.

As a Brighton fan, RDZ was a great coach, but not so much of a great manager. Some of the players that he brought over (Fati, Dahoud) were failures, while the players that Brighton scouted (using their model for finding talent) did much better. Given that De Zerbi wanted to have more say in this upcoming transfer window and use the profit that Brighton made last year (120m), it made sense for them to part ways.

I'd like to put myself forwards... I don't know how to manage a football team, can't play football particularly well and have zero prior experience. Neither do I support Chelsea. But I'll take the pay for a couple of weeks!

Not saying I want Mckenna at Brighton but you'd think that would be the safest next step for him. FWIW I think Brighton will go for Farioli.

Poch should never have been made chelsea manager if they they wanted someone who could be like a head coach, but if he is taking the team in a different direction than what the board wants then it's obviously not good to keep him

Heard a naughty whisper Jurgen Klopp has been the plan all along. This is why Chelsea guzzumped Livdrpool on those transfers last summer.

Pep acts more like a head coach then a manager. Klopp had way more power over transfers and such compared to pep. Not all the americans are tossing coaches left and right. Arsenal and liv have been american owned for a while now

De Zerbi clearly didn’t like the coach status at Brighton! Manager’s/Coach reputations are on the line and they are the first to carry the can when it goes wrong, selling their best players and recruiting players without the coach/manager’s involvement just accelerates unrest. Poch and De Zerbi examples just this season.
Chelsea are going backwards and fast especially with that short list.
The managerial joke so far is Kompany to Burnley. I can only imagine how angry fans might be, he didn’t adapt, was happy to die on the hill of his philosophy and go down, only to drop them. That’ll be one hell of a scarred owner!

The owner want to be manager, as he is also present always in the dressing room. He just want a coach who follows his orders and ideas, and trains the team. The owner thinks he is tactical good enough to lead the team.
