  • Video showing you how to replace the belt on a Kenmore 70 series dryer. Very simple to do, there is not a whole lot to taking off the front of the dryer so you can slip the new belt over the drum.
Once you have the front off and the new belt on, it's just a matter of knowing how to place the new belt over the motor pulley and idler pulley.
Here is a link to order a new belt for your Kenmore Dryer - amzn.to/1R2jNKm
If you have any questions feel free to post them in the comment section.
Also be sure to subscribe to my channel for more appliance repair videos!
I know the dryer is plugged in, lol - The breaker is off to those outlets during the video.
Be sure you unplug your dryer, or turn the breaker off when you replace the belt on your Kenmore Dryer!

Awesome video, nice to see someone that takes it slow and straight forward for people that aren't as inclined to already know some of this stuff. This would enable someone that had never been inside a dryer to complete the job the first time.

The first time I replaced a belt on a dryer was about 35 years ago. I bought the belt, took it home, and it was waaaay too big, I took it back and the guy at the appliance store drew me a diagram on paper how to install it. Worked like a charm. Thanks for this, I knew it was like a serpentine belt and need to replace one now.

  • @trustbuster23

Thanks for this. Really helped me out, I got it done in about 15 minutes thanks to this video instead of trying to figure it out for myself. One tip for anybody following this, the switch wires on the door that you have to disconnect are a little fiddly, I think you are supposed to squeeze it to bend the plastic over the stops and disconnect the wires, but I couldn't get it to work that way. I finally just slipped two small, flat head screwdrivers in on each side to let the coupling slide over the parts of the plastic that stick up and lock the coupling together, that worked to get the wires apart.
I also used a paint can to hold the end of the drum up while the the front was removed, that made it a little easier to get the belt running true as I spun the drum around a few times to make sure it was in the right place across the entire drum.
Works like a charm now and I just scored big points with the wife.

THANKS! I couldn't figure out the idler pulley and belt routing. After it's put together it makes all the sense in the world. My idler assembly was laying in the bottom of the dryer and I only had some dust and rust as clues to where it went and that wasn't enough. Thanks for sharing the video!

I'm just about ready to trouble shoot our Kenmore 70 series and this makes it very clear where and how to look to see why we hear the motor spinning but, not tumble rotation. Whether its a fallen belt or a broken belt replacement it appears to be the same approach. and I'm very glad the 70 series mechanics are all accessible from the front. that makes a world of difference in our tiny, small, and cramped washer/dryer room. Oh God, SO TRUE SO TRUE. I spent 10 minutes taking the tensioner on and off, agonizing about my forgetfulness, FINALLY remembered a loop has to Enter the tensioner. Stick to it aveness!

The belt I ordered had a grooved side and a smooth side. I think I figured out that the groove side needs to be touching the motor pulley and the smooth side needs to be touching the drum and relief pulley....anyway, thanks a lot man!

Very informative video, most anyone can replace this belt based on the instruction. Only thing I would add is the part number for the belt. Thanks Bill
