Yes, there has been a battle on this wikipedia article as the radical Leftists who support this game's disrespect of your country's history & culture continue to change wikipedia to fit their own ideological narrative. Those of us who believe in maintaining & respecting history are trying to fight back against them.
What you are witnessing regarding this game is a small scale battle of a MUCH larger ideological war being fought mainly in the West. The "Intersectional Marxists" are trying to either rewrite, takeover or destroy anything that does not align with their ideology. The similarities to the very beginnings of Mao's Cultural Revolution are very noticable. They are trying really hard to spread this ideology to your beautiful country of Japan so I am thankful their disrespect within this game has been noticed by many like yourself.
Always fight for & protect your cultural heritage.

Thomas Lockley learned about Yasuke from Wikipedia, became interested in him, and compiled a book about him.
However, even gathered from reliable sources at the time, only about one page on each side of the novel, he had to fill 99% of the book he wrote with his own imagination.
Perhaps if he had stated the truth in an afterword when he published that book, that the book was "mostly fiction," this might not have been the case.
But this is not the worst thing he has done.
He falsified the English version of Wikipedia and fabricated history in order to make it conform to the contents of the book he wrote.
He filled Yasuke's Wikipedia at that time with HIS OWN FANTASIES.
His Wikipedia name is "Tottori Tom". He frequently edited Yasuke's Wikipedia in 2015, shortly before his history-making book was released.
It's already been corrected and mostly changed, but there is a log of his falsification of Yasuke's Wikipedia page.
He is, even if only hypothetically, a professor at a university. For him to falsify Wikipedia to suit his own convenience is a matter of his credibility.
At the very least, I never want to get just a history lecture from him, lol.

I have some disappointing news to share: it's been confirmed that ACS used textures from Japan's designated important cultural properties internally. These are genuine national treasures where photography is strictly prohibited.
There's a high likelihood this will become an issue for Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs, possibly involving current parliamentary discussions. It's turning into quite a complicated matter.
Also, I understand there are people talking about the issue with the black character, but us Japanese actually love Yasuke himself. What really angers us is how he's been portrayed as a samurai figure without any evidence (in fact, with fabricated evidence).
There are new developments regarding the fundamental issue of who fabricated Yasuke into a legendary samurai and altered Wikipedia, so please stay alert. This could potentially become a serious issue, beyond just the game itself…….

Also, there's a painting of an eagle in one of the buildings depicted in the game via the pre release footage that closely resembles a painting inside a heritage listed temple in Kyoto (probably Nijo-ji, I can't exactly remember which one), inside which regular people are not allowed to take photos... They do not have the concept of " cultural appropriation " like some Western weirdo that goes crazy if you have braids. But once you show disrespect for their cultural heritage, they will not tolerate it. Their system is rigid, they do not tolerate butchering their history and traditions to virtue signal some DEI bs.

Every AC game has at least tried to have a protagonist that makes sense given the context of the history they're trying to cover. Let's ignore all those other Japanese samurai that existed and died honorably during this period, let's focus on the one token black guy that was seen more as a pet than a samurai under Oda.

Black people should be represented in the AC series, but this isn't the way to go about it. An ancient Mali based AC would be cool. Assassin’s Creed Shadows simply put is a revisionist effort to portray someone who may not have even existed as a venerable samurai warrior for the sake of more forced diversity in games and because it is a clear affront to Asian culture which is considered a white culture essentially. I don’t care if you think I am racist or not, that doesn’t phase me. I am going to call out hypocrites constantly accusing their opponents of what they in fact are guilty of doing. They took an unsubstantiated historical figure and instead of using him as a supporting character, which may have worked out and avoided any backlash, despite the fact none of the alleged primary source documents come from Japanese historians, because the narrative would have honored Japan and the samurai instead of injecting blatant homosexuality in the mix which was not tolerated in feudal Japan.

Yasuke, or as Flash says it Yusuki, was a bit player among bit players, his role in history was so insignificant. The man was only in Japan for 13 months before the Akechi forces captured him and sent him out of the country after Honnoji, where he faded into obscurity. He was, at best, a court jester meant to entertain Nobunaga's guests through his foreign strangeness and someone who carried the sword of his master on the way to a battle.
