This song actually inadvertanly is about her... She has said interviews that her songs almost tended to foreshadow moments of her life... like "Sorcerer" and the "black Ink darkness".... Here she was marking her descent into darkness and the "Gold Dust" that would almost claim her life.... "shadow of a dragon" It's amazing stuff... These are some of her most powerful performances...A true artist... I LOVE STEVIE
Outstanding "live" version of Stevie Nicks' Gold Dust Woman. The instrumentation is crystal clear. You can really hear how the classic Fleetwood Mac, drum & baisss compliments Stevie's voice, so well, on this video. The last 2-3 minutes are pure magic. Stevie's voice & Lindsay's guitar rock it out to the John McVie/Mick Fleetwood beat!
I'm gonna cry when we lose her, which I hope isn't for many, many more years. What a babe. Ugh! Her voice pulls me in like a beautiful sunrise. I hope Lindsey knows what he had.
Glad she is still alive and with us- Such a talented singer, songwriter, AND performer (and a witch to boot!) Thanks for the upload, have heard this song many times but always love the cuts that have the jam session at the end and Stevie doing vocal riffs.... She's just tapping into something from another world
INCREDIBLE Footage of Fleetwood Mac - Gold Dust Woman Thank you for sharing this flamingcrystal and the AMAZING Authentic footage of Tokyo in the 1970's as well
Awesome video. What a voice. Growing up in the 70's I was always in love with Stevie as she was drop dead gorgeous and had an incredible voice. I will always remember her in her prime in the 70's with Fleetwood Mac as that was when she was at her best. She will and will always be one of rock's greatest female voices ever. Thanks for posting this.
This is a great performance. Stevie Nicks is completely absorbed in the song, in a trance-like state of despair and anger. By the end of the song she IS the black widow, dancing on the grave of her lover. With her flowing black robes she creates a satanic image. Such a dark song. Absolutely love it!
She had the balls to break convention and talk about how focus is widely supported in the studio- I suppose on take 32 there's not much competition out there- and the public demands product! And yeah its a 2 way street: thank you to Ms. Nicks!
interstategar will never happen. Nick's vocal chords are never going to be the same. I saw FM last year, and she avoided all high notes like the plague. Almost flat.
It's difficult for me to choose my most favorite Stevie Nicks song but definitely Gold Dust Woman is my MOST favorite! Especially this performance! Thanks for sharing this one. This is a better quality than the other one!! ♥
Her words build a "sense" of a picture. An ambiance. Still moving the "story" forward - Christine McVie said it was difficult to understand the meaning of some of Stevie's songs - but each verse came together. From '77 - to '2013 - changes in how Stevie sings this song is marked. Mystical,...then as a more mature Spirit - determined. What she explains now to be the 'crux" of the song still rings for both ways she explained it. Lindsey is/was the object - love, hate, mix of success, loyalty, drugs, encounters on the road - almost "derailing" off the road, - but what she'll say after clearing the air with Lindsey in public is up to her. How their dynamic affected the whole is left unspoken. Great Group - talented all.
Hey coked up or not doesnt matter the woman is brillant she absloutely kills it here through all of it stevie nicks is still here and still rockin. Much love to u girl u 4ever rock
the entire band were so beautifully gifted..they were very unselfish together n solo. no matter what anyone may say..there just aren't bands like FM around these days.
I went to see Stevie in concert last week in Boston. What a great performance. She can still sing great and she put on a great show. Loved her performance of this song and also Rhiannon, Dreams, and lots of great songs from her new album 'In Your Dreams'. I was so thrilled to see her. She will always be the best female singer of all time to me.
I love this song and love Stevie nicks she is beautiful then and now... And yeah who wasn't stoned out of their mind in the 70s. I grew up in the 70s and had a awesome childhood... I remember listening to Fleetwood Mac as well as Heart.Great memories as a kid with the best music and the best parents... My beautiful mother. Rock on!♥
L Willing I think smoking pot made me a better mother.. I never got loaded in front of my kids. But I made sure they had the best .. not material things but my time. Cooking family meals, homework, clean clothes I fed the whole neighbor hood. Did my bit as a team mom , foot ball , piano lessons, baseball, now my son is a teacher at his old high school and my other son has his own sports shop. Now we do share our smoke time, since I’ve got cancer they bring me pot and edibles.. it then gave me patience and love for all ..
Everyone knows the band did a lot of drugs back in those days, so what's all the fuss about? We all know drugs are bad for you, and now so do they. They were on drugs, now they are off drugs as far as we know. They lived and learned...end of story.
MsCordially I would say her smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day probably was worse on her voice. She still smokes. My favorite singer of all time, but I can't see her live - her voice is totally shot. :'(
MsCordially Excruciating is not being able to see them live, I did last week! drugs or no drugs this people are all in their 60's and 70's , what do you expect? Despite that they put on an incredible show with over 22 of their greatest hits. While Stevie's voice is not as powerful as it used to be she sang good, looked beautiful and healthy. The whole band was full of energy, Mick Fleetwood was a rocket machine and Lindsey was phenomenal in the guitar! Over all it was an amazing show, I spend over 300 dollars in ticket, shirt, poster and beers and it was worth every penny!
Scott D While her voice is not like before she still sang pretty damn good, she looked beautiful and healthy considering the fact she is 64 years old and all the drug abuse! They are packing arenas world wide and have a loyal fan base! It all about the music and being 1 with the band, there is no need to put any of them down, They are Legends and deserve respect, nobody is perfect!
Such a tight band. And credit to the audio engineers too. Stevie sings in a lower register which could easily be drowned out by the instruments if the mixing wasn't right. But her vocal is coming out in front in perfect harmony, tone, and volume. This is another reason why she still has a voice today because she didn't have to fight to get out over the instruments, a circumstance created by bad engineers, or by bandmates who are just doing their own thing and not working as a team.
Drugs are the reason they performed so well. Drugs have their place. Especially in the arts. Drugs open the mind and let the passion flow out. Just watch Stevie and those beautiful, sad, and hauntingly passionate eyes. Drugs.
I don't know about that and I think Stevie would agree with me. She regrets her cocaine use which was seen as a recreational drug and not something so bad. I'm typically introvert, but I'm creative and I love music and can really get into it where I might seem extrovert. No need for drugs. Great music like Fleetwood Mac and Stevie's voice gets me high. Listening to a Jimi Hendrix concert can give me a euphoric high, eyes back in the head, total eargasm!
@@RetroFan Exactly. Drug addiction really fucked her up for a while. I'm far from anti-drugs but I certainly agree life must be nicer for those who've never felt the urge to use them, whether it's curiosity or self-medication.
Im born and bread Texan and had never listen to anything in Rock until one night, I heard a voice and a melody that put a spell on me. It was the voice and song of this woman. If it wasnt for Stevie Nicks I would have never become a guitarist and never would have discovered rock n roll.
One of the best videos on youtube! Amazing audio quality, even if the video image quality is on an 1977 level. What a great find! Stevie is pushing 30 here, probably isn't completely jaded yet, and might not have succumbed to the disease she is singing about. Note how she has better vocal control than in later years, when she let her vibrato get out of hand. But, her mannerisms and moves really make her a treat to watch.
downright mesmerizing. Like a Warhol piece come to life. Stevie Nicks arrived, top of her game, never has a false moment And the band propels her magnificently

They created absolute magic and nothing like i have ever heard before or since 🌙
This song actually inadvertanly is about her...
What does it matter.. Enjoy their music.. The meaning and passion behind the words and song is theirs
This is so awesome! I'm a really HUGE fan of stevie and fleetwood mac! Just everything about this is something that we don't have in this time era.
the japanese tours were super profitable
It was the 70's. We were all high. But wow they could still ROCK OUT
Outstanding "live" version of Stevie Nicks' Gold Dust Woman.
She my.favorite.yes.very sad.she gone
He knew. She has often said Lindsey did not want the break up. She wanted it.
@@tinaobanion816 she's not gone. Only in this video is she gone. Way gone.
I think a little of my heart will go with her. 💔
@@tinaobanion816 She's not DEAD!
She is so amazing and mesmerizing. Just saw her in Tampa fl. And she’s still got it! Absolutely gorgeous and talented.
Glad she is still alive and with us- Such a talented singer, songwriter, AND performer (and a witch to boot!)
Thanks for the upload, have heard this song many times but always love the cuts that have the jam session at the end and Stevie doing vocal riffs.... She's just tapping into something from another world
She is no witch. More of a Wicca than a witch.
Two years later. Alive and kicking!
Stevie said she wasn’t a witch.
This song gives me chills, damn Stevie
So stoned in this one, is Stevie....what a beautiful woman
wynne sagendorf I read some where, were she said she was.
I'm not buying that story!
I wouldn't believe Mick or Stevie since these 2 loves to break up marriages!!!!
WHO WASTENT STONED IN 1977 ?
I can't stop taking klonopin it's brutal. It's unbelievably brutal and it's prescribed to me. She wasn't exaggerating.
This has always been my favorite Fleetwood Mac song 💜
INCREDIBLE Footage of Fleetwood Mac - Gold Dust Woman
Thank you for sharing this flamingcrystal and the AMAZING Authentic footage of Tokyo in the 1970's as well
one of the best female voices ever!
This is one of my top favorite videos on CZcams
Ok truth. This is the best & bewitching version I’ve ever seen of Gold Dust! She Owns it ! Lindsey plays it with Clapton brill.
I love how this song slowly builds up the intensity...then the peak from 5:20 to 7:05 is simply amazing...
This is a great performance. Stevie Nicks is completely absorbed in the song, in a trance-like state of despair and anger. By the end of the song she IS the black widow, dancing on the grave of her lover. With her flowing black robes she creates a satanic image. Such a dark song. Absolutely love it!
Lived it, wrote it down, sang it for millions!!! At that age. BADASS!!!!!
I love Stevie Nicks. Insanely great.
She had the balls to break convention and talk about how focus is widely supported in the studio- I suppose on take 32 there's not much competition out there- and the public demands product! And yeah its a 2 way street: thank you to Ms. Nicks!
For me the best version they've ever done with this song. I wish they would play it like this today. They need to jam out more like this.
interstategar will never happen. Nick's vocal chords are never going to be the same. I saw FM last year, and she avoided all high notes like the plague. Almost flat.
Sorry, but arent they pushing 70??
@@marywilson4938 70 is nothing as far as them jamming with the bass, keyboards, and drums. They could do it, just not every gig.
Oh man I was only one year old then and now I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan.
Stevie is brilliant. My first concert was Stevie in the early 80s.If you ever get the chance to see her live please do.
Purple pop Girl They were my babies lullabies!
Pure magic. Stevie sends atmosphere over the world.......on and on....💐🥀💐🥀
She was high as but she held her shit together to make Fleetwood Mac successful and herself!!!!!!! Rock on Stevie!!
Hey coked up or not doesnt matter the woman is brillant she absloutely kills it here through all of it stevie nicks is still here and still rockin. Much love to u girl u 4ever rock
They still did their job...no matter what!!
the entire band were so beautifully gifted..they were very unselfish together n solo. no matter what anyone may say..there just aren't bands like FM around these days.
Hi i love the band Fleetwood Mac I'm fan of Stevie Nicks .
Exactly
i think it ruined Stevie's voice .
now she's all monotone, excruciating to hear live
MsCordially
I would say her smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day probably was worse on her voice.
I was there. 5 minute walk from my dorm. Took it for granted as I did all the remarkable events that I experienced there.
By far my favorite Mac song. Not a better looking brown eyed blond than Stevie.
Glad we still have her
I concur
WHAT A FUCKING PERFORMANCE!! Totally and utterly spell-binding.
41 years ago..this is still everything.
loved her in 1975 and still do now!
Amazing times, amazing music, amazing voice, beauty and those puppy dog eyes... I just can't, I can't go on... I love you Stevie
Im born and bread Texan and had never listen to anything in Rock until one night, I heard a voice and a melody that put a spell on me. It was the voice and song of this woman. If it wasnt for Stevie Nicks I would have never become a guitarist and never would have discovered rock n roll.
This is still everything.
Love the "ah's" at the end so much. Reminds me of Patti SMith.
Excellent point
One of the best videos on youtube! Amazing audio quality, even if the video image quality is on an 1977 level. What a great find!
Stevie is pushing 30 here, probably isn't completely jaded yet, and might not have succumbed to the disease she is singing about. Note how she has better vocal control than in later years, when she let her vibrato get out of hand. But, her mannerisms and moves really make her a treat to watch.
downright mesmerizing. Like a Warhol piece come to life. Stevie Nicks arrived, top of her game, never has a false moment And the band propels her magnificently
Sing it my sister and look at Lindsey jamming omg I have no words beautiful music!! 💖💗❤👏👏👏
Thanks so much for posting, Stevie Nicks was something else.
She looks like she was in the zone very good recording almost as good as the album version 😎
This is my favorite Fleetwood Mac Song. They did it quite well.
Pure perfection my all time favourite track , music , voice, lyrics, just sublime.
