- This is another AWESOME live Fleetwood Mac/Lindsey performance from their 1982 Los Angeles (Mirage tour) concert!! This time around it's the classic song~ The Chain. Lindsey REALLY gets into this!! I LOVE it!! This is one of my all-time fave (live) versions of this song.
No claim or copyright infringement intended.
Enjoy!! ~Jackie (: - Hudba
Fleetwood Mac need a movie like Bohemian Rhapsody, this concert alone is good a enough for a movie
still waiting
The whole movie is just the Rumours recording sessions.
@@supertramp9333 it's on it's way... but as a limited series :) :)
who can play stevie?
It has to be a matter of time
Bass riff comes in like "if you two don't stop arguing I'm turning this band around and we're going home..."
@jayfive276 ... Genius!
yesssss lmao!
Jayfive276 😂😂
accurate
Facts
Stevie and Lindsey hated that they loved each other, while simultaneously loving that they hated each other, it was visceral and you felt it in everything they did.
Very very well put my guy
YES!!
Just thinking about that is making me tear up.
From what I know, or seems you described it spot on.
Brilliant take.
That was probably the most accurate description of them I've ever heard.
I love Christine sitting there awkwardly singing, watching the chaos, she’s like “mom and dad are fighting”
she was also divorcing john during this time period.
In a later interview she was describing how pissed off she was at Lindsey during this performance.
I was going to make the same comment that Christine was just doing her part and watching them go at it.😮
She’s thinking, Here they go again and Mick Fleetwood is trying to keep up.
The one unadmitted thing I truly believe is that Lyndsey and Christine had an affair at some point.
There's just this weird energy and eye contact between them during some performances that has me convinced. Now she's gone and he'll likely never admit it.
Omg. That's the most coked up version of The Chain, ever.
True
Nope. Live 1979.
The drummer alone made a coke shortage happen at some point!🤣
The most awesome
XD
Love how Lindsey was giving his ALL during his guitar solo and Stevie was like yeah, you’re not going to outdo me buddy, then proceeds to aggressively hit her tambourine.
Correct me if im wrong... after 4:35 lindsey buckingham show us that he's not actually playing the quitar... am i right?
@@Levael Wrong. Play Big love first and think: do he really would ever need any playback ?
@@Levael for me it's more like a fact he's playing for real, because you listen weird shit when he pulls off his arm from the strings.
@@Levael no need for autotuning and playback back then..they were playing their hearts out every night!!
@Levael He’s using a massive reverb effect, a bit of delay, and a chorus pedal
This perhaps exemplifies the idea that Fleetwood Mac weren't a so much a band as a relationship crisis that made darn good music
Lindsey at the end being like “🌸☺️ thanks for coming everybody~!!!”
😂😂
Lindsey and Stevie are somehow simultaneously having a meltdown at each other and killing it with their performances
Whenever I have a meltdown I get arrested, yet these two can have one and make incredible music?? Doesn’t seem fair, but ok. 😆
Tension and fury can make for great art
Your comment is my new favourite
It wasn’t just the two of them - Christine and John McVie split during the creation of this album as well. She was sleeping with their lighting designer. Mick had either just or was about to get divorced.
That's not Lindsey Buckingham that's Tom Hanks in Big.
This feels like being in the kitchen watching your parents fight.
true
😅
Omg 😂 😂 lol, yessss!
And Christine's the child
@@thegirlfrommars4386 Jesus Christ, we're all the child -- why can't they just get along and love each other? It's tearing me apart.
At one concert, I saw them do this at the same microphone. They were screaming at each other, and you could see the sweat/spit flying. Stevie left the stage before the song was over. The audience was stunned. I wish someone had taped it back then. THIS clip is the closest I’ve seen to it.
how long ago was this?
May have been this performance maybe?
I sure wish I could have seen that.
Maybe it was when they broke up and it was still a fresh wound.
@@DM_21 It has ALWAYS been a fresh wound since they broke up. Lindsay getting “fired” has been building up for years. The Chain has been broken.
Stevie has the most haunting voice I've ever heard. And she means it.
Well put.
Nah, she wasn't playing, and neither was Lindsey. Love, hate, love, oh yes it's real.
✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️
it is other worldy.. chills!!!!
It’s like a tribal call
*aggressively hits tambourine*
I noticed the same thing about Stevie aggressively playing the tambourine far away.
I laughed way harder than I should’ve
She at least did that between her 200 costume changes Mick id stay away from here
Floor gang, tambourine gang Aouh
Plays the guitar like hell 🤣
I love how the rest of the band is calm in comparison to Stevie and Lindsey. They’re just sitting there playing their instruments vibing, thinking to themselves “ah shit here we go again”
British VS Americans
Idk, McFleetwood is losing it too.
Mick Fleetwood was just nuts too
@@grudman7885 5:22 yeah pretty much
And through it all Buckingham is just incredible.
Lindsey’s calm announcement immediately after raging for like 8 minutes straight
Christine brings a refreshing maturity and elegance to the nut-house.
Pretty sure she was the only adult in this group a lot of the time.
It’s funny that even then, she’s speculated to have had an affair with Lindsey lmao
Today I learned that it's possible to play the guitar perfectly while shivering in rage. Now, that's talent.
hard to tell if the rage or cocaine is contributing to the shaking more tbh
@@jsegaul420 probably both

Best comment ever! 😂
Great comment +++
🤣🤣
Rumours is probably one of the most intense albums because it was made through hatred and grief. The whole band was sniping at each other.
I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this from 2:38 to 3:28. It is a coke filled passion and hate that can’t be duplicated.
It's literally like the coke all hit at one time and possessed Lindsey's body. LMAO He just starts shaking. LOL
They all look strung out
Her expression at 2:44 after his primordial scream jumped off the screen
It's hilarious how Lindsey just comes and belts that part out LOL 😂😂
Comments from people that have clearly never really done drugs, aside from maybe some coke laced inositol back in college after a few zimas once or twice.
I never imagined that the biggest display of anger and malice between two people I would ever see would be in a Fleetwood Mac video from '82
Only to be topped by a 70s Fleetwood mac performance
Important reminder: THIS IS THEIR OPENING SONG.
AND he's playing without a pick! Simply amazing 👏
Really? So they just came out and screamed F you at each other for a couple of minutes and then played the concert? NICE!!!
This is my favourite concert video ever. The emotion each band member is experiencing in this moment. How they each desperately want their own interpretation of the song to be performed that they end up singing and shouting over each other. The fact you will fail a drug test just by watching it. Mick fleetwood having the time of his life
Brilliant
"The fact you will fail a drug test just by watching it." Yes indeed
Love it so much drama🎉
Mick's face is just pure innocent joy. He's experiencing a child like wonder and it's the best and most hilarious part of this amazing performance.
lindsey was skiing down a double black diamond
Someone on another video said that Mick fought his way through a heart attack/OD during his drum playing here, and I can't stop laughing at that lol
This is how a band takes out their frustration and anger at each other. Play the hell out of the instruments and sing like you are releasing years of everything.
Yep. That definitely was their way for awhile. lol
You can't just welcome the audience so casually after scream singing your soul out at your ex.
If you are Lindsay apparently you can.
And that was just the opener.
Oh yes you can and then it's magic.

Dude, everyone's talking rightfully about Stevie and Lindsay Buckingham but him and Mick shredding at each other at the end is intense
I think I read that Lindsay had just recently found out that Mick was sleeping with Stevie before this tour.
Mick has his head turned away and is cowering, Lindsey is doing everything he can to keep from coming apart and letting that come out thru his playing. Great performance!
@@tracytharp1189 Oh damn, it was that bad huh

@@prplhze2000 That wasn't a drum solo. It was Mick acting silly and outrageous to detract from the fact that he's a crappy drummer.

he was equally concerned that it would explode and ruin their tour and probably his bottom line so probably more XO than :D
Unbelievable performance. Christie McVie probably was the designated driver that night.
Manrique Molina She's the eye of the storm .
And even she looks like she's snorted her fair share.
Well it wasn't fucking Linsey lol.
What a performance from him though.
Christie McVie always seemed to me as if she was a mediator for them.
ya think?...of course she was and has always been, chris is the bands mommy...mick is the daddy, what could go wrong, lol.
Every footage of this concert indicates to Stevie and Lindsey trying to one up each other. The hate was strong, the performances were even stronger. The audience must have loved that, but people backstage were surely sweating.😂
I saw that, wondering if maybe they rehearsed it this way, I mean this tour had many shows, maybe this is the way they worked it out....but no, I think you might be right. Lindsey was out of his skull with vocal aggression, to go with his blistering guitar, and she was responding, trying to get herself heard over him. Sure was an excellent result tho, for us, maybe not so much for her
This should've been the official music video version. Their vocals are at peak and the way they perform is so good.
Was this version on one of their live records?
I’m very surprised Lindsey Buckinghams hat stayed so securely on his head during that.

RIP Christine. The band will never be the same without you. :(
She was the glue.
I'll go one step further my friend and say that without Christine and Lindsey and their incomparable talent(s) and chemistry, it's just about a wash for Fleetwood Mac the band, considering the advanced ages of the remaining band members. John, Mick, and Stevie, surrounded by session players? I don't know......
Damn it, I'm crying. This band was one in a zillion.

He did Stevie too sometime around this I think.
Not a care in HIS world at the time because it's pretty clear he is off in his own world.
mick was the instigator
I love how the performance really reflects the undertones of the song. They're all singing the same song but they're each doing it their own way and very non cohesively. Very symbolic of what the song itself is about. Amazing.
Jenifer Mattock wow that's the best comment ever!
It's how all three of them have unique styles and voices that perfectly fit together that can never be replicated by any other group on Earth.
When they first got together for their first rehearsal in 1975, they sang "Say You Love Me" together and Christine freeked out and got chills and said she had never felt that before (or since).
For certain! Noce observation
nice realistic critique!
So awesome that you are getting the actual meaning of the song!
You’re not hearing a song, you are hearing hearts breaking.
Cocaine and having an argument BEFORE coming on stage?
If so then they tapped into it to give the most shocking and gut wrenching performance. A relationship laid bare and WOW.
This is REAL emotions and two people literally ripping at each other while taking the song to heights only they could.
One of my all time favourite live performances.

I'm not a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, but Lindsey Buckingham sure can play that guitar, my gawd. Underrated

The last third almost feels like a prayer, "please let us not fall fall apart, the music needs to be made. I'm not sure I'm strong enough to keep us together"

Man I can’t wait till the Fleetwood Mac movie! Comes out ..!2019!!!
Ricardo Torres I mean… They’re still sort of making the movie as they go! As in, even though they seem to have chilled out a lot these days, there’s always drama in this group of people.
@@SuperTorres7 Is this true? Ive been hoping there would be a biopic from the story of this band.
If I hadn't discovered Lindsey (through this song coincidentally) I would've given up playing guitar. I was trying to learn guitar but hated using a pick. It never felt right and it never sounded right to my ears, but everyone says you have to use one. I wanted to play rock, but only wanted to play with my fingers. Seeing what Lindsey could do convinced me to keep playing. I'll never be as good as him, but I'm really glad I didn't give up. His performance here just blows my mind.
True tho, Lindsey and Knopfler are my inspirations too
The Chain is absolutely amazing and a 1st class Masterpiece and it will go down in history as a classic and timeless work of art 🎉🎉
its like they had an unfinished argument before they went on stage

I deeply deeply respect the fact that they went through whatever clearly LED to writing this song, while also still performing together. Honestly while I do agree with other commenters that this feels like watching your parents fighting in the kitchen, it's remarkable in that.... it feels like your parents are fighting, but also like you're watching them decide to carry on for the same of you and your siblings, and none of it feels put-on.
Lindsey Buckingham, such an underrated guitar player. He doesnt get mentioned no where near enough. Fantastic. Such a skillful player.
Oh **ck!, another dumb "underrated" comment. When is CZcams going to move on from this overrated buzzword?

That's what I said and she and Mick ADMITTEDLY were usually the big heavies. He just looks and acts like an idiot.
Totally agree, it's hypnotic and when you know about their story, their history it just adds to the atmosphere.
It's an act for the song...
Christine's face is all: "Ah crap, here we go again with these two..."
Can't tell if it's the stage lighting or was she on the verge of tears watching them?
I love the “WELL I CAN!!!” Stevie Nicks sings 😂. “(WELL I CAN!!) STILL, HEAR YOU SAYIN, YOU WILL NEVER BREAK THE CHAIN!!!”
This belongs in a museum.
I don't know how to feel for the audience. Did they walk away from this feeling like they'd seen the most epic/emotionally performance ever or are they traumatized?!?!?
They even got Christine fires up.
Every single band member is playing so intensely and aggressively. You can feel the pain and frustration.
Yes.
I love that it is so emotionally charged.
This is is the MOST unique version, the greatest version, in my opinion, because there is real emotion behind every word.
I also think the Guitar Riff in this performance is different from all the other versions of the song.

The hell you say I was there
@@aracelymoran2504they certainly did, though we are blessed that we kind of are able to inject ourselves in that moment, but those two in this particular performance as well as in a few others, both stevie and lindsey, expose their crowds to a cathartic display of love and hatered that can’t be easily replicated.
They respected each other as musicians and artists, but as a couple clashed hard and held no punches. This thing we see here is as genuine as it gets.
I see them and I can tell they’re both hurting bad, and that right there is the spice of music and art as a whole: expressing their emotions through song, dark ad they may be.
