- This is another AWESOME live Fleetwood Mac/Lindsey performance from their 1982 Los Angeles (Mirage tour) concert!! This time around it's the legendary ~ Go Your Own Way (my all-time favorite song) . Check out Lindsey's AMAZING guitar solo and the different way he sings the second verse!! ~I LOVE this!!
Sorry about the glitch that appears on the right side of this particular video from time to time. I'm not sure why this is happening. (I even uploaded this a second time, hoping that this flaw would be corrected, but it hasn't.) I still think it's enjoyable to watch, though.

Lindsey Buckingham really is an underrated guitar player; his time and control. Especially when you realize he's doing all of that without a pick. And performs every show like it's his last. Top notch musician, he is. Respect.
He's not underrated at all. He's very highly rated and very highly respected as a guitarist

Well, I guess after 40 years of not saying it I can put this out there, for no particular reason: Stevie Nicks has always reminded me of Carrie Fisher, and vice versa, on several levels. It's just one of those things.

Yeah, similar looks, similar eyes and I think the main similarity is their voices both going really deep and raspy the older they got.
The interaction between Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham in this is about the most intense I have ever seen.

John McVie is the bands secret weapon!!!!!!! A beast of a bass player!!
I watch and listen to this so I can hear John's amazing bass... near the end he plays around with The Chain bass line which ties in beautifully because the two songs lyrics are linked. I feel anyway....🙂

And an intense stare that could start them.
Lindsey snorted one line too many and he's getting jerky and messing up the end of the show. 2:27 and his girlfriend is getting mad. Smh. 3:00 and his buddy is messing with his head. 3:26 and his girlfriend is getting even madder but she's adorable 4:56 but she's finally done, she's leaving this mess lmbo 5:15 and Christine wants to know if he's ok 5:52 and Mr. Fleetwood just wants him to stay away from him.

It has always amazed me how any band can put on such a stellar performance while being high as a kite. It seems impossible, but these guys are absolutely amazing.

@@je1783 yeh you can function but after a while you gon’ be on stage jonesin for more. Coke is only fun for a little while before you stop getting high. In the beginning it’s all fun and games, then it’s misery. Exact reason why I don’t do drugs and never got addicted. The few hour high just isn’t worth it.
You gotta consider playing instruments like this it becomes second nature. They could do this shit in their sleep. Lose their minds, and still be able to do it.. Its mostly muscle memory after a while

I once did a Q and A with him on a Fleetwood Mac message board with other fans, and I praised him for his iconic bass work and style and he was so humble, sighting so many others as being superior to him. Honestly, few can keep a groove like McVie can and the chemistry between him and Fleetwood as a rythym section is perfection.
One of the deluxe reissues of “Rumours” contains a lot of demos and early versions of the songs, and in a few occasions you can hear a McVie bass part that ended up being used as a vocal line. He wrote hooks, for sure.
Even two really great guitarists couldn't replace one Lindsey Buckingham.

Love the base in this song. Most under talked about bass player, yet his base in 'Chain' is probably one of the most iconic base rifts we've ever heard in music. I've always heard so much soul in John McVie's and Christine McVie's contribution to the Fleetwood Mac sound. The fact they used to be together makes me wonder what a musically soulful house they must have lived in together. Or at least that's how I imagine it. Beautiful base, so soulful. Such an important canvass on which to paint what we got to recognise as the Fleetwood Mac sound. Peace and love

Theyre on the retirement nostalgia circuit now and they cant make that big cash money without stevie. Barely 1 in 10 casual fans could name lindsey buckingham but they know who stevie is. If she wants him gone hes gone. The days when they needed him to make new music are over. She is lord and master of their fate and finances now. How they managed to work together with all the bitterness for so long is amazing. But...they needed his talent then. The time for making new hits is passed.
I heard it was due to a significant drug problem. They started tour with him in the hopes he could hang in but he couldn't. It's shame as he is a fantastic guitar player.

Lindsey got tired of waiting and settled for the before Nancy "upgrade," if only they weren't two peas of the same pod, could have the baby, instead, Nancy stole Robin's baby and husband after Stevie put him to sleep

I high key miss Lindsey so much. He’s such a force. I saw him in NC and he’s great. I enjoyed myself and so did my plus one. Post concert depression is so real 😭😭
The tension is palpable through the pixels. I have always loved the sustain on Lindsey's guitar. He plays with a wild musicality which never goes over the top, but creates tremendous excitement!

I and my partner saw them here in Portand, Ore. but it was when Christine was on hiatus back home. Watching her on this mid blowing video just makes me so much sadder that she's left us!

Amazing performance. My absolute favorite thing in this song is the melodic baseline under the chorus and the way lead guitar comes to meet it as the song rises to its peak. This has got to be one of the few PERFECT songs ever written.

I was 21 and Rumours came out. It was the much more successful follow up to Fleetwood Mac and hung around for 2 years, smashing all kind of records. This song will always define Rumours for me, as it came out before the album, igniting a 42 year love affair with Go Your Own Way. So glad I was around for it.

This was 3 years later though and according to Stevie she and Lindsey were getting along fine - probably because she was dealing with her longtime best friend Robin's illness and death and Lindsey had also known Robin since he was 17. In backstage photos he's comforting her and during Sister Of The Moon where she's crying and bent over he leans over while still playing guitar giving her a kind of body hug.
I'm 65 and this is on of THE best songs in rock n roll history, bar none. Mick Feetwood's drumming is always fantastic and great...

I was just thinking that listening to this. Like are we not going to talk about how fantastic John's bassline and tone is in this song? As great as all the members of this band have been throughout all it's incarnations. If you strip it all back you're left with John and Mick and they are an incredible rhythm section. It's hard to go wrong with such a rock solid foundation.
John told Lindsey during the first Buckingham/Nicks Mac album recording session after Lindsey tried to tell him how to play the bass on a song "The band you're in is Fleetwood Mac. I'm the Mac. And I play the bass."
